Hi eds and reds hope we’re all having a great Christmas. I’ve read a number of reports that are saying we have agreed a £18m fee with Lille for Renato Sanches seems a really odd one to me. Any insight would be much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Renato Sanches (CM) Lille are happy to let the player move on due to the constant muscle injuries he suffers; they want euro 20M. I am not aware of Liverpool having agreed his transfer but Klopp has praised him in the past.}

to be fair ed we do need another CM to start on our treatment table, would add some great depth on the injury list.

Don't see the value in him tbh. Very over hyped and still has plenty time to live up to his potential but what does it do for the progressions of cain Clarkson and Jones. Even if gini goes for free we have enough cover and he isn't needed.

If its true at that price its very interesting. there's not a team on the planet who wouldn't have wanted him when he signed for Bayern. Obviously everything hasn't gone according to plan since then but i remember looking at him at 18 and thinking he was going to be one of the top handful of players in the world. A fit Sanches at that price could be an inspired signing.

This the guy who was on loan at West Ham few years back? Surely isn’t good enough for us?

{Ed001's Note - Swansea he was on loan at and he has improved since then. But then I have seen better players in pub leagues than he was at Swans. He was ridiculously overrated, as I said before he went to Bayern. Never got the hype then and I wouldn't consider him now. He is a lump of lard.}

He certainly ain’t no Hendo.

i didn't actually realise how much the fee was that bayern had agreed, was massive for an unproven 18 year old! wasnt it up to like 75m euro's with 35m upfront.

i think if he has fitness issues one to potentially stay away from.

I sincerely hope we steer clear of Renato Sanches. I still cannot forget his world class pass to the Carabao Cup billboards instead of a team mate standing right next to him.
Want Bissouma as Gini's replacement. Premier league proven and more consistent without any major injury history (bit like Gini) .
Only drawback being Bissouma will be off to AFCON next season for a month.

You guys have Grujic on the books. Surely it's worth giving him a shot if Gini leaves before spending money on a player who has flopped massively at a big club in the past and whose current club are willing to sell him without much hassle for a not too big of a fee. Surely if he had started showing the potential he once was said to have than surely Lille would want to keep him on seeing that they are top of the league currently.

Grujic is already on the books and 20m euros can be better spent specially during the current economic situation in my view. Why is the club/ Klopp not that high on Grujic ed001? Wasn't he signed under Klopp. Surely he must have seen something in the lad to green lit the signing even if he wasn't Klopp's choice.

{Ed001's Note - work permit is the main issue. I would rather have no one than Renato Sanches.}

I'd rather give Clarkson or Jake Cain a real go than sign Renato Sanches. The kids would run through a brick wall for the club. Sanches is the kind of signing we would be making under Brendan Rodgers (no direction or real plan for the player who is not good enough to make our first team squad in the first place) .

{Ed001's Note - I would rather play Jeremy Clarkson than Renato Sanches - about the same build and mobility.}

See what everyone is saying about Sanches and that one game for Swansea where he passed to the hoarding is enough to put you off! However haven't seem him lately and by all accounts he's improved so if Klopp and the team deem him good enough that's enough for me.

{Ed001's Note - I have seen him in bits and pieces at both Bayern and Lille and he is not good enough or even close to it. I really do not believe there can possibly be any truth to it, the lad can barely run.}

Ha still the same player then ed? I was reserving judgement a bit since I haven't seen him play so long. But from what you say there's not been a lot of improvement. Was the hype around him purely because of his physicality for his age then?

{Ed001's Note - and because he was part of a Portugese team that won a tournament because of Ronaldo and nothing to do with him. He was always a big lad, but it is mostly round his waist. He is not anything like Klopp-type fit.}

CR7 wasn't that great in the Euros 2016 if I recall correctly Tris.

{Ed001's Note - he doesn't have to be great as international footie is crap. He draws players away from the rest of the team, even when playing poorly he is worth two or three men, just the same as Salah on a bad day. They give the rest of the team space.}
