Mohamed Bouhafsi reporting a 4 year deal with Alcantara and it's between Liverpool and Bayern to finalise a deal. He's seen as relatively reliable, obviously not saying anything about if it's correct but it is a rumour site after all. Any Ed's have any knowledge about this?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure there is anything new here - Liverpool need to make an acceptable offer to Bayern Munich. The other interested sides do not see value given his age and injury issues.}

As you've explained before it does not make much sense, although the player himself is excellent. Ed002, whilst obviously Bayern have the player in contract and can therefore demand their price is there relevant pressure for them to sell (obviously to avoid losing him on a free) to get some sort of money from him? If so could that maybe make them rethink their valuation or lower it ever so slightly to help a deal?

{Ed002's Note - The player has told them he wishes to leave and they have already made provisions for it so they will let him leave. Manchester City have spoken with them about Thiago but I understand they don't see the value and are after someone younger. PSG spoke with them during discussions they have been having over another player, but he is certainly no more than an option for them. That gives Liverpool tohe opportunity to try ad do something. They will need to find the money from somewhere, so perhaps they are confident of sales.}

Thanks very much for the info, have a good weekend. I personally wouldn't object to the signing of Thiago.

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

All reports are saying we have agreed a four year deal with the player not his club, unless we agree something with Bayern it doesn’t mean a thing, not starting to get hopes up on this latest news.

This is probably the 3rd time since June that Thiago has accepted LFC offer with mid June, late July and now mid August.

I still don’t see this happening especially as we haven’t approached Bayern directly yet. Little point in agreeing terms with the player if the club haven’t been contacted.

We have to wait and see. Whilst people such as Fabrizio has said we've contacted Bayern, Ed002 has said we haven't. The only thing I know is that Thiago is a Bayern Munich player until he wears the jersey of another club and signs the dotted line.

I’m all for it, only thing is why would he move now when he’s got a Big chance to win the Champions League? Surely it’d be after that competition wouldn’t it?

I think it is unlikely that any agreement between the clubs will be agreed and publicised until Bayern complete their CL campaign. So nothing is likely to happen for a few days at least. Personally I would love Thiago at LFC - he is class and would improve our team.

Mohamed Bouhafsi just tweeted that Bayern and Liverpool are close to agreeing on a fee.

That’s why the op put at the start of the post kwkhong, agreeing with the player is fine but having not contacted Bayern is the issue imo surely to god.

I don't believe the 'no value' tag, that is because the other clubs know he doesn't want to goto them. Thiago is world class . If sides want to shut down our full backs, they will have a new threat to deal with. Thiago is amazing in tight spaces, his passing is world class.

{Ed002's Note - Yes as you know he has been tapped up and his head turned by Liverpool. But they do not see the value in giving a 29 year old a four year contract.}

Thiago doesn't rely on speed or strength really, so he should be playing at the highest level for a while longer. Not only that but he can also help nurture the talent around him. I'm all for this one.

Hi Eds, I'm a bit confused because if it's true that Klopp tapped up the player who is 29 years old and they do not see the value of giving him a 4 year contract or paying an acceptable fee, then why bother making an approach? Unless they are confident to get him on a cheap which doesn't look like happening. So, they might as well look elsewhere for someone who fits their purpose.

{Ed002's Note - Different people at the club have different views of players. Klopp is clearly very, very keen to take him.}

Where does this guy play? Is he a deep lying playmaker so would take Fabino's place and if so can he defend and tackle well enough; or would he play further forward. It looks like we would need to change formation to play with him in the side or he may mess up the balance much like Keita does when he starts.

{Ed002's Note - Typically between DM and CM so it is hard to see where he fits in with the tactics and how he could be used. }

Be interesting to see if Klopp gets his way here or if the club stand firm.

{Ed002's Note - You don't understand. It is not a dispute.}

Sorry Ed I took it as Klopp Really wanting him but some from inside the club don’t see the value in him with his age and fee Etc in mind like you’ve explained.

{Ed002's Note - But you make it seem like a dispute - it is isn't.}
