Afternoon Ed's, hope you're all well?! I know this has been addressed previously however all these rumours and paper talk posts have made me want to ask you if you could please do a quick summary on who, to your knowledge, we actually still hold and interest in this summer and whereabouts we are with any deals if there's anything currently in the pipeline. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to your reply, keep up the good work!

{Ed002's Note - Post COVID-19 priorities should be for a CB to replace Lovren and an AM to replace Shaqiri. There is then an argument whether or Lewis is trusted as a send choice CB if Larouci leaves, knowing there is also cover from elsewhere. Additionally Klopp seems to want Thiago (DM/CM) but Liverpool has not spoken with his club and it would really hit what little available transfer funds there are.
Diego Carlos (CB) First choice - it was viable for Liverpool to negotiate the price down and include Xherdan Shaqiri in the deal but that option has now gone. Diego Llorente (CB) may provide a slightly option and was certainly looked at. Ozan Kabak (CB) has been mentioned recently but again there has been no approach. Ben White (CB) has a significant benefit in being HG but is very expensive and money is very short.
Julian Brandt (AM/CM/LW) has gone as a wildcard option and a versatile Shaqiri replacement. It has been suggested that Harvey Barnes (LM/RM) might prove a suitable replacement but I am not aware of any approach for him.
A couple of the youngsters appear to be ready to step up.}

Sorry are you saying they are looking at Lewis for CB? Or whether he is ready for back up LB?

{Ed002's Note - Lewis is a LB.}

Ed002 - Ferran Torres was mentioned a while back and looks on his way to City. I think at the time he was priced a lot higher than what is rumoured to be the figure to City, similar to those figures banded about for Thiago. Obviously he would give backup to the wide areas as Shaqiri did as well as being young. Did we look to him at all or no interest at all.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

The whole no money thing is part ploy, surely? The players who really want to join, like Thiago (allegedly) will point to the fact that there is only one club that they wish to join, and Edwards will play hardball, thus meaning the price gets reduced.

I Like the look of the Turkish CB, he looks raw and is apparently multi positional. Carlos would of course bring immediate quality to the side and make us one of the best defences on the planet, but if he is in high demand, then Seville don't need to reduce the price .

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have a serious financial problem and that is not some sort of ploy at all.}

We need to clear some debts again now as the Edds have mentioned before. Unfortunately for us, this close of season we will have to shop at happy shopper and not waitrose.

Is your knowledge of our finances from people at the club, or from available accounts that anyone can see.

Dont doubt you know what your saying. Pointless me looking at accounts.

I’m not sure it’s all that severe. I do understand accounts and they are extremely strong. Next to no debt, lots of assets with a new facility setup where we can release funds against the assets of the club. BUT as with all businesses cash is king and it’s that we have a problem with at the minute. As I understand it there are some big player payments due and an existing loan is due to be repaid. Also, from something Ed said a while back, we may have been a little hasty in recognising revenue on something not earned yet and may not be now (coutinho fee maybe on the add ones? Am guessing butbwould of been daft if we did)

So we are going into a year with less revenue from stadiums being partially or fully closed to fans, a potential write off to make and no cash Without increasing debt.

We could always borrow money against that facility setup and buy Mbappe for £300m but that’s not how fsg roll and we certainly don’t want to go back where Hicks and Gillette left us. They are doing the right thing for the future of the club and I totally back them on it. Let things settle down and stick to a tight budget and flog a few to fund strengthening the squad In key areas (Lost on Thiago though as we don’t need cover there, but I trust klopp)

Sorry Ed I know He is a LB but was referring to your original reply

“ There is then an argument whether or Lewis is trusted as a send choice CB” I assumed you meant LB.

Is the idea of him going out on loan to Blackpool being halted until larouci has left?

{Ed002's Note - Yes it should have been LB. Liverpool need to make a decision as to whether they trust him or not.}

Ed, you mentioned that the Shaqiri option is now gone, is that to do with Seville dropping their interest in the player or is he potentially moving elsewhere?

{Ed002's Note - Sevilla purchased an alternative.}
