Hi Eds
Lots of talk of a new first choice CB. Is still simply for footballing reasons, or is there other factors at play meaning Gomez is taken out of the limelight for a while to grown into the VVD role. Would the club be open to serious offers for JG to fund a new CB?

I was kind of thinking there could be an option of three at the back if we are so keen on someone like Carlos. Allow Robbo and Trent full freedom, the obvious three up top, and two deep lying mids, could be hendo gini or Fabinho. Gomez would suit rcb well.

I've seen ManC use that a lot at certain times during a game. We could try it too to counter certain teams and certain players/ formations. Not sure about having a back 3 full time though. Having all your creativity only from the sides makes you predictable and easier to counter.

Exactly ed, it's not hard to see that robbo and Trent play in wing back roles every game while fabinho plays in the similar depth that Gomez or vvd occupy. Formations are fluid in moments with or without the ball and if any 2 full backs operate as wing backs currently it's Trent and robbo who've been playing as such for 2.5 years now. To play 3 natural CBs we would lose a midfielder which would harm us. We have no reason to add a 3rd CB as we are one of the strongest back 5 units around without need to disrupt. Would also need our squad to consist of 5 or 6 CB options if not using fabinho in a flat back 3. Could only 2 of hendo, gini, Keita or ox play together in a midfield duo against 3 man or 5 man midfields? No chance could any combination of those 4 play in 2 man midfield without us being immediately weakened in that area.

So does Gini and Milner, Ed01 but they do on the flanks in a back 3 rather than thru the center like Fab does.
