Ed's, just wondering if the virus and global financial affect on Clubs, tv, sponsors, oil prices etc will affect the bigger players expected to move this Summer. The likes of Mbappé, Sancho, Neymar etc. will the value of transfers overall drop or will some of those moves and one's for similar players now be effectively put on hold for a year? Hope you are all keeping well and thank you for your insights and the great site.

{Ed002's Note - The financial impact will hit clubs at all levels. Most protected will be the cash rich clubs who will look to proceed with transfer plans - but they cannot expect a bargain unless clubs are quite desparate to sell. Clubs who have spread out payments for past transfers are going to be hit badly as payments typically fall due in June. The higher profile transfers, Barcelona will need to include players in any major transfers so their position is week - but they would still like to complete a deal for Neymar and will lose Lautaro Martinez to make sure it happens. PSG are looking to offer Mbappe a new contract to fend of Real Madrid - the wages will be beyond the €400k he is currently paid on a weekly basis. Real Madrid would like to get Mbappe done this summer but money will likely not stretch as they still have to work on replenishing an aging squad. The issue with Sancho is the total cost of the full package (transfer fee, agent fee, signing on fee and FA payment) which is simply outrageous - otherwise he would be moving to Chelsea - but they won't pay it. Borussia Dortmund would be happy to keep him and should be able to afford it, but they want to know where they stand in respect of their long list of potential replacements. The clubs quoting English sides €75M or €100M for players will need to think again - regroup or look to sell at a more attractive price for buyers. Certainly there will be a lot more players being offered in part exchange deals.}

Thanks Ed02. Will be hard for clubs to budget you’d imagine especially if they are waiting on instalments for previous sales etc. Hopefully it will give a chance to more academy players to come through into squads and be given a chance to play/ shine. I hate to constantly hear of fans shouting for signings without a thought for our Academy players. It’s a wider discussion but would this lead to more focus on bringing talents through?

{Ed002's Note - That is the reason that many sides need to have an end in sight - so they can try and keep control of their finances.}

The Anfield Road expansion has been put back at least a year now because of the financial implications of the virus.

@The Juicer. Is it definite that's the reason, or the building contractors have a queue of jobs and work to get through and the current situation has delayed their other work, so we're further back in the queue?

The same psg kid most people think we have chance of signing with our niky kit deal. 400k would per week would leave a taste on wage bill.
