I've just read that when Phil Jones signed for Man United from Blackburn, Liverpool had made a bid and he rejected us.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to it?

If so, we certainly dodged a bullet, there.

I think its very nice of mr jones to provide us with humour during this very difficult time.
Surely the last thing he should be doing is highlighting what a awful career he has had.
EP: I do believe we were interested but as you rightly say we dodged a massive bullet there.
Has he ever completed a season without being injured?

I’m pretty sure it’s true yes and definitely a bullet dodged. I remember being gutted at the time because of all the hype around him.

It’s an interesting question Epic.

I was listening on the radio the day he moved to United, it was transfer deadline day.

All the talk was that he was in a helicopter, heading to the Northwest to sign for us.

The rest is history.

Jay dub red : right place at the right time, if utd had to rely on 11 phil joneses the outcome would have been very different indeed.
A lot of very average footballers from man utd got quite a medal haul and can count themselves very fortunate to have done so.

Liverpool definitely wanted him. He was shown round by Kenny I think.
I liked him back then and for several seasons he was a good player.
Injuries disrupted his career.
I think he was a better player than Skrtel personally.

Not exactly a huge amount

In fact Adam Lallana will have won more in a year then Jones has won since 2012.

It seems that he was very sought after if he is to be believed. He claims that he also had offers from Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal as well.

Sure, his injuries have badly affected his career. Or is it just that his ridiculous facial expression make him an easy target for jokes and memes.

He looked a great player at Blackburn, at the time I would have certainly taken him in the squad.

For what it is worth for the chat. I remember reading Harry Redknapp saying that every club in the premier league had a interest in him at that time.

@Gaz827. Wow, I didn't know he was that highly rated.

I know he plays for Man United, but what a shame for the guy if he was tipped to be the next big thing.

Let's hope that Joe Gomez doesn't end like him, haha.
