Apparently Bournemouth interested in Wilson, anything in this?

They like overpaying for our players.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, they have been interested all summer.}

As always Ed, you are a fountain of love, thanks!

Add another £5m on after that strike.

I still think he’s adequate back up as he knows how to put the ball in the net and is capable of troubling a keeper from distance, something sadly lacking in our team.

Have we got a player in the squad who can do that apart from Wilson? If we aren’t going to sign anyone why sell him!

Shaqiri can - I like Wilson but there’s no need to keep him if Klopp feels he’s not going to make the grade long term.

I thought of all the youngsters in pre-season, Larouci looked the most ready, but Hoever looked good and Harvey Elliott also impressed with his two little cameos, although clearly one for next year or year after perhaps.

not sure why people keep saying "Klopp feels he’s not going to make the grade long term. " regarding Wilson . because Klopp said nothing but praise for the boy . The original plan was to loan him out again, but as Ed002 mentioned few times already, their was a change of mind and they want to keep him . If Wilson is sold it will be because the lad wants first team football and thinks can get it elsewhere.

Keep him. He could start in a low level Premier league side and be the star of a Championship team, but if he can pitch in for us from off of the bench it will be far more rewarding for him. I personally feel he has the ability to become a star for us if we're patient with him and he keeps his work rate up. I see no reason to currently loan out a player that's not necessarily on high wages and can serve a role for the team short term and possibly a greater role going forward. Preseason has been a good chance for him to show he can score, now let's see if he can provide a spark during the season. I'm nothing but encouraged by his play this last few weeks.

I've followed this site for years. Interesting to see the views of fans and lads 'in the know'.

I've been reading comments regarding Harry Wilson and they reminded me about comments made regarding Gini Wijnaldum on this site by the eds at the end of last season. Apparently he wasn't seen as good enough and would be 5th or 6th in the pecking order for midfield. Yet he was probably our most consistent performer last season and played a massive part in that champs league semi! I would say I disagree with comments about Wilson in that he isn't good enough. Maybe he doesn't work as hard as what Klopp would like however as a footballer I think he can do it in the right team. Whether that is us or another premier league side who knows. I hope we keep him and give him a chance this season. With injuries and the amount of games we have then he will get some game time. It doesn't look like we are bringing anyone else in at the minute.

To be fair to you Roy, I’m only basing this on what others are saying that Kent and Wilson are for sale and I have no special insight, but even so, while he’s a useful player I’m not sure I’d lose too much sleep if he moves. I think Shaqiri and Ox can play out wide and not sure Wilson is, or will develop into, better than those two.

The funny thing about Wilson is he's clearly a technically talented player but the reason it's hard to see him being with us next season is simply down to our style of play and klopps preferance of a certain type of footballer.

A couple of reasons I feel for his lack of having a role under klopp.

1. High intensity, pace, aggression is wanted from his midfield players or forwards

2. Formation doesn't suit his role, he's not a wide forward player who plays on the shoulder of defenders, but also not fitted to play in a 3 man disciplined midfield.

3. As SGRed pointed out, he has similar attributes to Shaqiri in style of play and position and it's fair to say shaq is probably better.

4. He's only played 18 months of consistent 1st team football and only at championship level despite being 22 so his stock and reputation right now might be the smartest time to cash in. 18 months on loan has arguably added 20mil to his value. A season of back up to salah will likely see him lose value.

Just my thoughts on what makes sense for him and us that he moves on this summer.

{Ed025's Note - how about the real reason har?....hes crap..

Roy, is Klopp supposed to say no i don't like Wilson, he won't make the bench 99% of the time because he is slow and doesn't work remotely close to hard enough. Ofcourse he is going to praise him. Doesn't mean he actually means it.

He isn't good enough, he scores the odd screamer free kick, and had a few long rangers at Derby, but he won't get the same types of chances in the prem.

Wilson will be sold if a buyer can be found to match the £20-25mil.
We need better backup/ options to our front 3 than him.

Bournemouth just acquired a winger from Ligue 1 - Danjuma. I wonder if this means they've decided to move on from Wilson?

10 goals for lfc this season and he will be 50 millions on todays market.
Suggest we could keep him.

17.) 01 Aug 2019
01 Aug 2019 11:42:30
He must be a magician that Harry Wilson if he is able to score 10 goals for LFC from the stands! He has Salah, Shaqiri, Mane, Chamberlain, Firmino and Origi ahead of him on the wings and even more players ahead of him in midfield.

18.) 01 Aug 2019
01 Aug 2019 15:54:06
Yea and potentially 60+ games next season and also has only no one ahead of him as nobody plays AM.

{Ed001's Note - Shaqiri and Bobby can both play there, as can Lallana. However Klopp rarely uses an AM so it is of little use being an AM is it?}

19.) 01 Aug 2019
01 Aug 2019 16:39:08
Wilson played and scored the majority of his goals on the wing last year for Derby. There’s a long season and he can help lighten the burden on Mane and Salah very capably and is certainly better than wasting money on a sub par option like Kamano or Cornet.

01 Aug 2019 07:44:12
I think he’s done enough to be part of the squad this season personally. He can cover wings and centrally and is clearly talented. If it doesn’t work then fine, but I see no point in signing a player like Cornet who we’v been linked with rather than to at least give a homegrown player a chance. Maybe he’s not going to make the grade, or maybe he isn’t hard working enough for Klopp, but he certainly isn’t crap Ed. Some players come good and/ or improve given the chance and I think he deserves at least 6 months in and around the first team squad.

{Ed025's Note - thats just my way of saying that i dont think hes good enough westwood, i say it about everton players as well, just a personal view though mate..

Fair nuff. Maybe it’s because Iv been looking foward to him coming through for years in the same way I did Sterling and again now with Brewster, but I still think there’s something special there in him. Whether with us or elsewhere, I guess time will tell.
