Ben Woodburn to League 1's Oxford city on loan. I think their manager is a scouser. Hopefully he can kick on and get regular first team football.

Thats it he is done now.
Such a shame as it felt he had the world under his feet a couple of seasons ago.

@akrubbish what's wrong with you? He's 19 and it's exactly the right time for him to go play a 40+ game season somewhere. Herbie Kane did great in League 1 last season for example, and Woodburn's a year younger. I hope the lad really finds his feet and kicks on into top form and wherever his future may be, I wish him all the best.

Herbie Kane was exactly the same age last year going on loan to League 1 and it ended up a great loan. Now, at 20 it looks like he's going to Hull for a year and next year probably a loan in the Premier League. These players can still have a role to play in the squad in the future. Most important thing is that they are out getting games, its up to them then.

Isn't that the division dele ali starred in? Good luck to the lad, still only a kid but needs to be playing men's football, he will learn a lot for playing against experienced tough men, hope he rips up the league.

akrubbish such a negative view "he is done at liverpool" he is blooy 19 for christ sakes, shall we start writing off all players over the age of 17 who aren't regularly playing for liverpool?

In fairness he went to Sheffield United last year with a Billy big balls attitude and they sent him home. Maybe a drop to league 1 would be a kick up the arse for him to push on.

@little naby I have a couple of friends who are Sheffield United season ticket holders that said that to me last season when the loan was terminated. That's why they said Wilder had no interest in him. No source per say but that's what was going around Sheffield at the time. By all accounts wilder takes no rubbish.

The only logical reason I would feel because the lad has the talent and Sheffield United would have been a perfect club given how Wilder plays.

And herbie Kane didn't travel with the lads to any of the training camps because he's not in the plans because he's not good enough. Ben Woodburn is going the same way as Kent and Wilson and ojo before him.

Jezza, Kent and Wilson haven't "gone that way". If we were a top 7 team (like when Klopp joined), they'd be considered for the first team squad. Liverpool have massively improved since then, and the standard that we require is much higher. That's the only reason. They're very good players, but just not up to it at a club eye the league and Champions League.

Also, don't write Ojo off yet. He's got another chance and I think he's going to absolutely tear it up in Scotland.

I remember saying 2.5 years ago this exact situation would happen. He gets a 6 yard tap in, against lower league team in EFL cup at anfield. The next day he was all over the back pages of papers, was getting hyped by the media and us fans for weeks. He had proved nothing in our first team only that he could score a sitter! He started I remember a league game soon after away to stoke and got bullied for 45 mins before subbed at HT.

He was such a young kid who had no speciality position or role, he's now only 19 still but it always feels like he's considered a write off. I don't know much about his attitude or mentality but what we forget about Sheffield Utd last year is how good they were in championship. They were in great form and had a regular consistency. Not an easy situation for a teenage kid who's only on a 1 year loan to break into the first team.

I think Oxford is smart loan, ex red teammate Cameron brannagan will be playing alongside him which can only help, should get regular minutes and hopefully strive.

Be patient with him he's still only 19,. I've noticed this summer he seems to have filled out a bit too. A player like him who doesn't rely on pace, it can help that he has improved upper body strength and balance.
