Evening Ed

My mate said he seen we are interested in Philipp Max the full back from Augsburg in Germany. Not heard of him nor seen anything myself.

Any truth?

{Ed002's Note - Philipp Max would be a replacement for Robertson.}

Ok Ed thank you, so another non starter!

{Ed002's Note - Unless he is suddenly willing to sit on the bench - or perhaps Roberts is and the club could move on Adam Lewis.}

Ye never know, he could be like Emerson, Danilo, Davies and Kolasinac and not be afraid of some competition. Personally i hope we don't sign a leftback and leave a route for one of the youth to step up.

Do you know how Lewis and Larouci have been viewed so far is Klopp considering one of them now, or is he still looking for a replacement?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know what he thinks of them.}

Fair enough Ed. I will scrap it along with the rest.

Sorry Ed, I meant to add with what you’ve said about Lewis. Do you think he could get a chance at back up to Robertson this season then, or more likely a new one arrives?

{Ed002's Note - I would opt for Lewis but we will see.}

Thanks Ed, I would do the same and keep the position open for both of them to keep fighting to win throughout the season it will hopefully spur them on to prove themselves.

I don’t see the point in spending money on a back up and it’s expensive to buy someone to compete with Robertson!

{Ed002's Note - What would make a lot of sense would to bring in someone who can play both on the left and right to provide cover.}

Cheers Ed, you speak such words of wisdom sir.

I’m with you Ed002. I’d like Lewis to be back up.

Left back cover could be provided by Gomez or Milner, Larouci has looked OK in preseason so far and Robertson has been lucky with not picking up injuries and his form gets better each game. Hard to drop the lad and he shows no signs of complacency at the moment and does not pick up too many cards either.

ed002 from what I have seen of the preseason games Larouci looks a good back up for Robertson, and if he missis any big games Milner can cover there too. All so ed am I right in thinking the young lad can play right back as well if so with him and lewis I think that is more than enough with Milner and Gomez in emergency's. They both seemed to coped all right up to now. They would only get the cup games or some minutes against the lesser sides who are not going to put us under to much pressure.

{Ed002's Note - The club have used Larouci primarily as a LB but he can also play RB and has been used there. I would agree with you - but only as cover. Adam Lewis is further ahead in the pecking order and both have much to learn.}

they do have much to learn ed002 but being around the first team training with top class players and getting some game time should bring them on leaps and bounds. there is not to many better full backs than the ones we have so spending money on players to sit on the bench seems silly. And with the carabao cup and the world club world club championship and the fa cup there should be plenty of games for them to get a run out.

I wouldn't swap our full backs for primed Cafu and Carlos.

not sure if Lewis or Larouci are really up to speed at the moment, pity really as both are good left backs, but prob need another year or two before they are able for the big games, which means that we will have to bring someone in,

{Ed002's Note - Sure - and then the club should look to moving at least one on as they are doing with numerous other youngsters. It is interesting they are also bringing in kids from Fulham and Chelsea which means other Academy kids will be moving on.}

You mention youngsters brought in from other clubs, and I assume the one fron Fulham is Elliott, but who is the one from Chelsea?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I don't recall his name - he is just a kid (16 or 17).}

@Red 6 times - they have that year or two to be ready for the big games, we're not talking about either youngster being first choice, Robertson will play the big games.
