Sepp van den Berg is the name lots of websites are reporting about at the moment. Eds, any truths in these reports?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect there is. My notes are out of date but say: Sepp van den Berg (CB) Zwolle kiddie but being watched by a number of sides including PSV, Brighton, Ajax, Lille and Genk - Sampdoria have had a couple of offers rejected - Crystal Palace, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have enquired.}

Lots of pace as he used to be a winger before converting to a centre half. That will probably mean that he'll be able to play as an attacking full back too.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone convert directly from a winger to a centre half.

Sure, winger to full back; centre half to defensive mid; even full back to centre mid (ala Fabinho and Philip Lahm) ; but winger to centre half? never.

EP, Van Dijk started off as a striker, and I could be completely wrong but didn’t Carragher start out upfront too?

OGRed_Phil. I forgot the centre-half/ forward combo. There's quite a few examples. Chris Sutton was a classic example and regularly played both roles, and dare I mention him? Steven Caulker, haha.

Strikers and Centre Halves share a lot of the same attributes. I don't know if he ever played in defence but I'd imagine that Duncan Ferguson would have made a decent centre half.
