Hi ed001

I hope you are well. I asked in early October whether the club see Lewis as Moreno' s replacement or if we would sign a replacement but it was too early to tell and I said I would again in March (It was under my old user name Oubaas can Zyl)

So I therefore ask if we see Lewis as this option or are we looking to sign a left back? If so who do the club have in mind?

Thank you for your knowledge and insight.

{Ed001's Note - it is looking like it will be a signing as things stand mate. Someone like Aaron Martin seems to be the favourite. A player whose contract is running down. I can't remember who else was suggested but it is not seen as a massive priority, so it will be someone who is near the end of a contract or out of contract, most likely. Unless Moreno decides to stay, there is still a contract offer for him on the table.}

Aaron Martin from League 2 side Exeter Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy him in the summer.}

Google Aaron Martin and it was returning the chap from Exeter City and I was sat there wondering what was happening for a moment. Then I see there's a young chap from Mainz!

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy.}

Was hoping we wouldn’t be looking at Div2 players Ed lol. Anyone else in the frame then for LB, not heard his name mentioned on here before tbh.

hahaha. Yes the Spain U21 international Aaron Martin, not the 29 year old Exeter City centre-back Aaron Martin, with all due respect to him. :)

Other notable young left-backs with contracts expiring in 2020 include Hertha's Maximilian Mittelstädt who's having a good season and Rennes' Ramy Bensebaini, who I saw against Arsenal and looked decent if unspectacular.

Thank you so much ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
