Hi Ed001

With a Cesc Fabregas like situation for Coutinho slowly starting to develop at Barce do you think we would be interested if he were to become available?

{Ed001's Note - no, after the way he forced his way out? Not a chance.}

Made his bed now lie in it.

Ed001, just out of curiosity though, is he actually unhappy at Barca? What about Barcelona with him?

{Ed001's Note - he can't get in the team.}

Coutinho should have done his research on Valverde and the current Barcelona setup before making the move. There was an inevitability that it would end badly for both him and Barca. He just does not fit in seamlessly into their midfield or attack. Not to mention his playing style being quite different to iniesta who he was supposed to replace.

In life, sometimes, you get what you ask for. Just a shame. Struggled at Inter and was going nowhere. Liverpool gave him a chance and he took it and made a name for himself and the team. And now back to square one.

Even tho we came off better in the deal (buying alisson and vvd for what we sold him for) if the chance did come up to sign him I for one think we would be crazy not too. Yes he forced his way out but for me emotion should be put to one side. Would he make this Liverpool team better? 100%.

{Ed001's Note - where would he play? I do not see how he makes the team better. In fact, as I said at the time, I think we are better suited to Klopp's style without him and I think that has been borne out since. Excellent player but not what we need in any way, shape or form.}

Rather not have him back. He went on strike to leave, faked back injuries, and completely ignored his defensive duties for the last 6 months whilst he tried to force a move.

He can get in the hole he's dug with Suarez and Mascherano.

I think the team has moved on to the next level (up) and it's without Coutinho. I for one, would never want to replace Mane with Coutinho today. I believe Mane offers much more than Coutinho did. Where else would he play? Want the front 3 left untouched. And Klopp never continued with playing him in central midfield; probably because he doesn't track back well or have major defensive skills which Klopp wants in all his midfielders.

The sad thing is ArAy1969, Coutinho is actually really good defensively. I remember in 13/ 14 when he played in the midfield diamond and worked tirelessly. He was a good tackler as well.

He just stopped caring and that is unforgivable. One thing you can't take away from Suarez is how committed he was on the pitch even in his last few games. Then again, Coutinho didn't bite anyone!

How’s Suarez and marchersno on dug a hole? Both When they left we’re good enough to walk into any team, coutinho who has glimpses of excellence is far too inconsistent.

24 Dec 2018 13:40:53
Ed001 could you not see him playing on the left in a 4231 with mane switched to the right. I think he is a special player. Wasn't happy with the antics I'll admit that but if there was a chance to buy him back I just think we would be mad not too. Merry Xmas anyway ed001. Unbelievable site.

{Ed001's Note - not at all mate. He doesn't do the press well enough which is why we improved so much when he went.
Merry xmas to you too mate. Have a happy and safe new year too.}

Pegleg, Suarez bit someone and threatened legal action against the club to get a move. Mascherano turned up drunk and went on strike to get a move. Coutinho feigned injury and went on strike to get a move. That's how they ALL dug a hole and that's why none of them should ever be welcomed back to Liverpool.

12.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 14:22:12
Not to mention how Suarez lied to Kenny and brought disgrace to the club.

I think mane plays much better in todays set up when he is on the left. Despite his early struggles adopting to that side he has become a best at left foward.

I personally wouldn't bring anyone in to shift mane to the right.

I don't think coutinho would ever come back anyway. Just like players move on. Teams move on too.

Hes still a great player but i think the 100 to 120 million it would take to bring him back would be better spent elsewhere to enhance our young and improving squad.

24 Dec 2018 16:21:24
Everything aside, would he still fit our style of play or have we moved on from him. We’ve done pretty well without him and sometimes his attempts at worldies drove me mad, although how much of that was trying to catch barca’s eye I don’t know? He’s got quality in his boots though. Did the club wash their hands of him after the way he left?

15.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 16:40:33
coutinho will always have a special place in my heart ad long as he does not play for united. will love to take him back tomorrow.

24 Dec 2018 16:56:35
If Coutinho did move, I’d find it hard to see him at another English club. Barcas midfield isn’t great, he should buck his ideas up, stop moping and push to be in the team.

24 Dec 2018 16:59:06
Interesting that Barca's last few moves in the transfer market have turned out quite badly especially as they were very very expensive ones with Dembele not working out too well either. Methinks they need to up their scouting game.

18.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 19:11:11
Scouting nonsense. Yeah they had best academy till Messi comes out. After that no one of note came of. Maybe I missed something.
The players they signed are the ones who are making name for themselves in the league. Suarez, Coutinho, Mascherano, Sanchez, Dembele, Rakitic, Neymer. They literally think they can play FIFA in reality.

19.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 19:20:38
I wouldn't want Coutinho back at Liverpool if he came on a free or came begging, we don't need little turds like that at our club, the squad started playing much better when he left, people tend to forget pretty quickly how he thought he was bigger than the club. Not welcome.

20.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 22:06:23
Bit condescending of you Salah considering VVD did the same at Southampton to get to Liverpool. Short memory mate.

21.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 22:36:40
Love coutinho, but our performances and results without him easily matched when he was playing. Good deal for the club and totally agree that he is was 'almost' a passenger playing the #8/ #10 role at that time.

22.) 24 Dec 2018
24 Dec 2018 22:51:10
I’ve watched Liverpool from the early 80s both sautes and mascherano have been some of the better players I’ve seen play for the club. Most players will spit their dummies out if they don’t get the moves they want. Don’t forget vid went on strike to get his move to us. Players want to play at the highest level, except that and realise all players are replaceable!

23.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 00:03:52
Completely agree with the sentiment MK. however both Mascherano and Suarez have gone on to have very successful careers since leaving Liverpool, winning titles and cups. I don’t think they would describe themselves as in a hole 😂
🎄🔴.

25 Dec 2018 05:23:12
Shaqiri has his old position, sort of, so he would fit back into the team imho.
He’s a better player too.
But it’s not going to happen.

25.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 03:34:24
Wouldn’t want him back, partly because of feining injuries etc to force a move but also because I think we are genuinely better without.

Question for the ED’s though (sorry to bring money into this) if he can’t get in the Barcelona team, will that affect payments to us? Would it be better if he got sold on it there were payments to us linked to a future sale? Just hoping we don’t get kicked on the payments.

{Ed002's Note - If he is sold any payments related to appearances and success don’t get paid. There are no payments for future sales.}

26.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 09:42:15
Regardless of his behaviour when trying to get the Barcelona move, You’d have to consider what the deal would cost and what else you could get for the same price. Also, how our performances and results improved almost overnight after he left. Great little player but we’ve moved on.

27.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 13:10:45
I loved Coutinho but disagreed with the way he forced a move away from Liverpool. We made Barcelona dish out 140 mil+ for him, how much do you guys think we'd pay to take him back? Would we pay 100 mil+ to get him back? I don't think so and I don't think Barcelona will let him go on the cheap as well. So, that pretty much settles the discussion about him coming back if you ask me.

28.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 13:38:04
Coutinho is a no brainier. I would replace Lallana for him and Milner for Emre Can! I want them back!

29.) 25 Dec 2018
25 Dec 2018 12:58:15
Is a Bobby/ Dembele swap possible Ed's, a few guys banging on about it last night saying it was a goer, Im thinking 5 year deal £100 mill added to any further deals with them surely not .

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean about the money, but as I have explained there is nothing involving Liverpool at all and the club has had no talks with Barcelona about Dembele at all. Everyone is completely deluded about the money paid so far for Coutinho and what is still due - I have tried to explain this over and over again - to no avail of course.}

30.) 26 Dec 2018
26 Dec 2018 10:34:31
Not for me, we have enough midfielders, and he wouldn't get in ahead of the front three, personally I think we have played better since he left.

31.) 27 Dec 2018
27 Dec 2018 00:29:05
I wouldn't take coutinho back. He forced his way out and acted terribly to get his move to Barcelona. Our play immediately improved once he left, he didn't do the press as well as the current players we have. Also i feel because he was able to produce that bit of magic the other players seemed to rely on him to pull something out of the bag and try pick out coutinho when there was better option available. As for coutinho, i thank him for his service, but he forced his way out, and ultimeately, the club has moved on, we are in a much better position now compared to 12 months ago.
