Morning Ed's,

I have to ask as I take your words as gospel.

Is there any truth to the Ramsey to LFC rumours? Or are the papers just creating headlines

Thanks Ed's.

{Ed002's Note - What I understand the situation to be is that Arsenal had reached a general agreement with Aaron Ramsey and his agent for a new contract but concerns were expressed about his "comportement" so a new deal is on hold but might yet be possible. Right now the two players that Unai Emery thinks about as possible central midfield replacements seem very unlikely options to the person I spoke with so it is unclear where this might end up. In terms of interest: Liverpool yes, and they would provide the best financial solution for the player. Juventus have at least four options in front of him so not right now. Milan yes they are interested - they have targets ahead of him but one is unaffordable at this time and attracting attention from elsewhere; the others are free agents in the summer but one is looking to head elsewhere and the other is Cesc Fabregas. I do not know of interest from Spain but, like Italy, wages would be an issue. Do not be surprised by interest coming from other English sides at some point.

It is good to have a question about transfers.}

Thanks for that ed2, impressed as always with the level of detail.
Question (for the group really but will be cool if ed2 can add) - if/ when Ramsay at pool, who is it likely instead of?
Of the top of my head I count Milner (age) and Gini (? ) .
Any thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool priced Wijnaldum out of a move in the summer but he has become a starter - whether he remains so when Fabinho settles we will see. Against Milner is his age and a thought that he might look to move on when his contract runs out in the summer.}

Cheers Ed002 always appreciate the info.

His injury record is worrying for the wages he'd be on, but I can see how it might be tempting for the club with him being out of contract. I'd be curious to see how he'd fair in Italy. Also in regard to our midfield, we still have the Ox to come back as well.

{Ed002's Note - I would agree that the muscle injuries would have to be taken in to account but there is some interest. I will admit I am rather surprised about the interest from Liverpool. Whilst Juventus have other priorities it should be remembered that they are going to have a pretty major reshuffle at board level later this month and there might well be some rethinking about the midfield plans they have at the moment - which could well see a glance back in Ramsey's direction.}

I imagine Lallana will be leaving the squad as well as a couple of others in offensive positions so there might be a bit of space for him to squeeze into the squad.

I think we'll have to see how the season progresses though and what happens with someone like Gini, if he slips back into his previous inconsistency then perhaps he will leave and they'll be room for Ramsey.

I think Ramsey is a decent player and certainly could be worthwhile bringing in on a free transfer at the end of the season, I think we'll need to see how our current crop of midfielders get on though over the season and whether Ramsey would actually be an upgrade.

Great to here some transfer news ed. Tbh its been a while that anyone has even asked about them. I do agree though that Ramsey is a strange one.

Apologies if I should be taking this rumour with a pinch of salt, but with Rabiot’s contract expiring next season I have read we are looking at him?

Is this true or is it putting 1+1 = a tree.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine please.}
