Hello Redmen,

Sorry there was no loan update last week, I was Globe trotting. I wanted to go with ED2 but instead I was stuck with my wife.

Anyways I am back now, I hope you didn't miss me to much.

Danny Ings made his first start for his boyhood club Southampton and with his first start came his first goal.
Unfortunately Saints lost 2-1 to the bitter blues of Merseyside but I think we all agree its good to see Ings fit and firing.

Awoniyi is finally up and runnig with his first goal for Gent as they beat Jagiellnia 3-1 to reach the 4th round of qualifying for the europa.
Despite his lack of goals so far this season Awoniyi has started every game as the lone striker and has been a big contribution to the team.

Young left back Arroyo back with the Mallorca B team for the season opened his account for the club with his first senior goal.
His goal proved to be the difference as Mallorca B beat Poblense 1-0 in the season opener.

Wilson featured midweek for Derby as they beat Oldham 2-0 in the league cup.
Wilson got his first assist of the season as his pinpoint delivery was headed in for the opener.
Injury unfortunately ruled him out of the weekend defeat to Millwall.

Woodburn has waited for his first start for Sheffield Utd and he finally got it last week in the league cup. Unfortunately it was not a game to remember as United lost to Hull on penalties. Woodburn did however score his spotkick.
Things went from bad to worse for Woodburn who made his first league start on Saturday as Utd hosted Norwich.
A poor first half saw him substituted at half time. Utd went on to win 2-1.

Herbie Kane had an impressive game as Doncaster knocked Scunthorpe out the league cup last week.
Following his impressive midweek performance Kane kept his spot as Doncaster lost 1-0 to Burton at the weekend.

Shamal George started his first game for Tranmere in a 3-1 league cup loss to Blackburn. There was little he could do about the goals. George was back on the bench at the weekend.

Games are coming thick and fast for Ejaria and Kent at Rangers.
Ejaria started against Maribor in a Europa qualifier where a 0-0 draw saw them through to the 4th round. He also started the weekends 3-1 win over Hibs.
Kent came on as a sub against Maribor and played the full 90 against Hibs. It was his deflected corner that lead to the opening goal.
On a side note its good to see Gerrard make a good start to life as Rangers manager. Unbeaten in 9 and one round away from qualifying for the Europe league. Does anybody know the last time Rangers featured in Europe?

Lastly Bogdan featured as Hibs lost 3-0 to Molde and crashed out in a europa qualifier. To make matters worse he injured his hip in the game and missed the weekends action.

And that's your lot.

It's early days Tc77. The championship is a big step up from the u23 league and very physical/ competitive. he's got the skill set it might just take him a bit of time to adjust to the league.

Thanks for the update Carra.

Was it 2007? I think they made it to the Europa league Semis. Back when it was the Uefa cup.

Out of interest Carra, do you know where woodburn has been playing, positionally speaking?

Firmane - at the weekend he played at the tip of the diamond. I’m not sure where he started in the league cup match prior to that.

Thanks Carra, was hoping he’d play through the middle! Just hope he takes his chance and maybe toughens up a bit.

Only because they're my hometown team am I mentioning it, but it was Kilmarnock that Rangers played at the weekend, not Hibs.

I watched the game (and have watched a few of Rangers Europa games this season) . Kent is really fun to watch, very tricky, but at least 50% of the time at the weekend he lost the ball without doing anything with it. Definitely a good winger there, but needs to make better decisions.

Ejaria has looked good going forward for Rangers in the games that i've seen, but seems a little positionally naive, and doesn't contribute a lot defensively.

Steven Gerrard has had a really solid start, although they haven't really beaten anyone they shouldn't have beaten anyway. He's built a decent squad for a title challenge, but a lot of questions will be answered when they play Celtic next month.

Will be interesting to see Gerrard vs Rodgers in the dugout when Rangers play Celtic.
