ED002

Hope all is well!

A few different Liverpool sources saying RM in not prepared to pay Alisson's asking price, even though they agree terms with the player, which now opens the doors to Liverpool.
I know you mentioned the situation is difficult/ unlikely, but are you aware if the situation would be looking clearer if this were to be true?

Do you think its more practical that with RM out the way, that we will place a bid?

Thanks
Tommy T.

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid's primary interest is elsewhere, it is the player who is keen to move there. The situation will be eased if Liverpool were to offer an acceptable fee - somewhere close to what Roma are asking. Then something can be done.}

Ed is it courtois that RM want?

{Ed002's Note - He is there preferred choice by a long way. He is far more affordable than Alisson and is in their view the much better goalkeeper.}

My only fear with this is if we do offer an acceptable fee, this along with Fekir would be another 100M+ on 2 players on top of what we have already paid for Keita and Fabinho. Yes its not my money but imo the club will be spending to much and for that reason I can't see it happening.

How will alisson feel about being third choice? I mean, klopp has apparently told ward he is in the battle for number one with karius. Or is klopp selling more falsehoods?

Thanks for the reply ed, courtois in my opinion is the better keeper. Interesting to see what happens next if RM do sign him.

Have you heard anything recently in regards of Liverpool willing to make such an offer ed?

{Ed002's Note - There has been no offer, and Roma could end interest in the player by demanding cash which Liverpool don't have. If Liverpool want to push ahead and try to do something with Alisson, then they must talk with Roma and put an acceptable offer on the table. Given what Klopp has said about Karius and Ward it would be a very significant kick in the gonads for them.}

I do admire your patience ed2!
You do know you opened the door for a gazillion more Alisson questions now? 😀.

Knowing LFC, we will bid for Alisson even after klopps comments regarding Ward and Karius but fail to bid enough which will leave us with disgruntled keepers of which two at least aren't what most would deem "good" enough.

I doubt we'll put in a bid unless we have are prepared pay what Roma want and know that Alisson will sign.

With the Salah sale, Roma's Pallotta said he and John Henry negotiated the deal in Boston. I expect something similar will happen with Alisson.

the Club will spend what it can to back Klopp as long as it is for the benefit of the club. If Klopp can convince them that spending £100million more on two players could be the difference between a title or champs league etc and it is financially viable the club will do it. They know the financial state the club is better than we do. I’m looking forward to the new season. This is probably the most complete squad we have had in a long time other than the keeper position

we can use city as an example they bought bravo and realised he was useless in a more physical league and went and replaced him with Ederson who was a class apart last year. I hope we can do something similar and pull off a deal for someone like Alisson. Then football may well be coming home to Anfield for the first time in a long time.

In the champions league final we saw we needed an upgrade in middlefield, cover for Salah and a better keeper.
We upgraded our middlefield with Fabinho Keita and (Fekir) .
We got cover for Salah in Shaquiri and (Fekir) as well.
We need to get now a better keeper hopefully Alisson.
If money is the problem we still have to sell
Wijnaldum, Clyne, Mignolet, Markovic, Ings.

Yeah fair play Ed002, great insight as always.
I just don't see us spending Van Dijk-type money on a position that Klopp doesn't seem too bothered about, although I do hope I'm wrong. Butland/ Navas seems far more likely, but let's just wait and see, only 23 sleeps until the window is closed. Good luck, Eds! ;)

When did we sign Fekir?
Have I missed something?
