Hola eds,

Question for Ed001 or macca if they're around. Anyone know anything about Milan wanting to take brewster and moreno on loan?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know if the interest in Brewster is still there, they wanted him if he left us. Moreno is someone they have shown interest in.}

How good is this lad tipped to be my friend?

Seems a lot of hype!

A kind of hope we trim the squad a little of players who always seem to be there when there are injuries - much rather give solanke, Woodburn, Brewster the minutes. In recent times Flanagan, Gomez and Trent have all been given chances through injury and did well - I know Flanagan hasn't pushed on, but it's always nice seeing a player come through the academy, and I hope we see some more.

I would rather have a capable squad player in a key position than gamble on an 18 ear old prospect. He can get minutes when we are 4-0 up against Arsenal. Not when 1-1 against Spurs.

Thanks Ed heard it from a friend of mine in Milan and it was first I'd heard so was initially skeptical.

Apparently they'll be making a loan offer for the pair just after WC ends. Not sure why then since neither players are involved.

{Ed001's Note - they were showing interest in Moreno last summer as well.}

Tried the search engine to see if the Grulic thing had been addressed in detail but couldn't find something . Is there any serious interest in the kid that could result in him leaving or is the club looking to rid of such as Marko and Allan who play similar positions and facing similar issues such as work permits and any hope of getting game time?

{Ed002's Note - Markovic is still for sale and it will be a case of setting a revised price that is realistic. His loan last season eventually turned out not too bad but when he arrived at Anderlecht he was out of shape and they were obviously not happy with that. Anderlecht did enquire after buying him but the asking price Liverpool had was prohibitive. Allan has been injured - I am not sure if he has recovered now but he will be let go on loan or permanently as there appears to be no other option. Grujic is wanted by Lazio and there have been some discussions between the clubs but there was no agreement before he left for Russia. The player and his father are apparently keen for the move to go ahead so he can get his career back on track.}

Thanks for the detailed response, it's a shame how we contributed to the stalling of these kids careers. Best of luck to them where ever they end up. Thanks again for the quick and comprehensive response.

{Ed002's Note - I failed to mention it is Olympiakos interested in LM.}

Sounds like Brewster is supposed to be the real deal.

when i read about "how we contributed to the stalling of these kids careers" i feel kind of strange, because it sounds like you are giving the club the "harms intentionally those players" tag. you mean, the club spent money, paid salaries and on purpose kept them away from first team action? because i don't feel like markovic wasn't given a chance, he just didn't perform. grujic also played and didn't look like he should be in the first team. allan just couldn't get a wp. etc?
so, all in all, in my opinion, can't blame the club about people not having a successful career, and also, at the same time, blame the club for not buying marquee signings (whatever that is), and then blame the club for taking gambles, and then blame the club for taking a risk with somebody, etc etc etc, list goes on.
truth is, business as usual, don't stare too much. life goes on, both for players and the club. no blame needed on any part. just best of luck to everybody is in order.

{Ed002's Note - You are missing the point that Liverpool never had a plan.}

I won't argue on what Liverpool did wrong about every single player, but I don't think they intentionally do/ did anybody any harm. The same window they got Grujic, they also got Gomez, who proved himself worthy and is now a valuable member of the first team - more or less same age, good prospects, etc.
Same window when they bought Markovic, they got also Lallana, Origi, Balotelli - of those 3, one turned out pretty awful, one was pretty decent for a while but got injured and one was so-so and went out on loan. So there you have it - four different cases with four different players, all signed in the same window. My point is, it is more or less up to the player to show that he's the real deal. And, I 100% agree that sometimes the club makes buys that are wrong, but looking back it's easy to say "they didn't have a plan and they ruined the boy". Had Markovic done a Salah first season, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Anyway, no need to blame anybody on "failed careers" was my starting point. Of course things can go wrong, as in life in general. And it's easy to say when you look back "hey, that was wrong". Yeah, well, they didn't know that back then. I am sure everybody wanted Grujic to turn out to be a Gerrard, I know I did.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has ever suggested it was intentional. It was more a case of buying players at the wrong time and having a manager who makes promises which are simply not true.}

Whz whilst it wasn’t intentional we had no idea what we wanted to do with these players. This was rodgers spending money for the sake of it. 20 mil and when he played Markovic he was played out of position. We then turn off clubs wanting him as we want to recoup our money which is never going to happen. So Markovic has barely played whilst his value has gone down year after year. What’s the point in that?

I think eds has clarified what was meant to be said, in all honesty the tone was set for the lads the moment we signed them without a plan in place for them to progress. Let's face it with broken promise from management and club that's has not planned a path to at least develop you further the odds are just not in your favor.
