Barca have held talks with Coutinho's agent over a potential move. They are aware it wouldn't be easy to convince the club but are confident of reaching an agreement. Player has expressed his desire to move back to Catalonia after playing for Espanyol on loan in 2012.

Just matter of time.

Eds has explained the contact from Barcelona and they have been told he is not for sale.

{Ed002's Note - They will be returning to London to talk with Liverpool again.}

2.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 13:45:38
I know you hate talking money but surely with all the money in the game Liverpool should be asking more money than what we got for Suarez.

{Ed002's Note - His value is nothing to do with the runt.}

3.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 13:55:17
Owe ok mate. 😂. I thought we had made it clear. If we are even talking to them I guess its very possible the Money will sway it.

{Ed002's Note - The opinion of the player will also be taken in to consideration and his agent has made it clear that he wants to play at the highest level.}

4.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 14:10:34
Ok. I think we all need to accept its a matter of time then based on what's been said. Even with CL football it probably won't be enough for him to stay. Youve already said this is the extra season he has given us. Very hard to take but inevitable I guess. 😟.

5.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 14:23:14
Why are Barcelona returning to London ed2 if you don't mind me asking.

{Ed002's Note - To meet with Liverpool.}

6.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 14:37:40
Well that sucks. Will be sad to see him go.

7.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 14:59:19
I am told the club will try its best to hold on to the player. But I think he will depart. Liverpool has become a feeder club to big clubs. Silva managed to stay at City we can't hold on to Coutinho!

8.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 15:27:41
Can Barcelona afford him though?

{Ed002's Note - Of course. They have a number of players who will be moving on this summer.}

9.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 15:31:38
Why don’t you accept that he is going and wish the lad well. He has served the club well why he has been here.

10.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 16:20:12
Ed is couthino their top target? Also any idea who we would be looking to replace him with, i can't think of many that could fill that void.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona has looked at a number of players but they are keen on Coutinho. Liverpool will look to keep him. This is simply business as usual.}

11.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 16:24:57
Dont worry lads, we've not seen the last of Coutinho by a long shot.

12.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 16:29:41
Harry I think almost any player in the globe would leave for Barca, especially if he gets to play with his mate Neymar and the likes of Messi etc.

As gutted as I'd be, I don't think that if Coutinho does leaves it means we're a feeder club. The key is Liverpool getting to top 4 now and remaining there consistently, and Klopp seems to be heading in that direction.

13.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 16:31:05
65m + Suarez and coutinho is yours 😂😂.

{Ed002's Note - Why would you want the runt back? How many games was he banned for whilst at Liverpool (25 or so and then a further x month ban that was avoided by his sale). What did he cost the club in reputation? A great deal - dragging the name of the club through the gutter. And the cost in embarrassment of having a player threaten legal action and actively court other clubs? Add to that his keenness to get the club embroiled in a major racial issue with his disgusting abuse of another player. On three occasions, twice as a Liverpool player, he has bitten fellow professionals. He spent 18 months trying to get out of the club and was happy to join Arsenal. And what about how he cost Kenny Dalglish his job? A man who did so much for the club but so many of the supporters were happy to see discarded in favour of the vile little runt. He squats to piss and is a truly appalling excuse for a human being whichever way you look at it.}

14.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 16:34:56
two ways to look at it, if he leaves and have UCL football next season might free money and opportunities for others to come in, e. g. Brandt, if he leaves and don't have UCL we've more problems to look at anyway and might free space/ funds for the key areas.

15.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 17:07:50
Brandt doesn't compare to phil though, he is on the cusp of being a great player, i know we can't keep him if he wants to leave but id be gutted if he was to go after the 5 year contract and he signed that knowing we couldn't compete for the title.

16.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 17:15:12
Coutinho's great but he's not irreplaceable.

My worry is that we would try and replace him with a promising young player on the cusp. If he goes, we'll need someone to step in and hit the ground running with a similar creative output. It's big boots to fill.

17.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 18:51:59
I'd have Suarez back in a heartbeat, never left anything on the pitch. And dragged everyone else to play at a higher level, disrespectful to call him a runt really.

{Ed001's Note - not as disrespectful as his actions while employed by the club. He should be called a lot worse.}

18.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 20:00:45
I'd be sad to see Phil go but if we bought the right player he's not irreplaceable in my eyes. As long as we don't spunk the money we receive and spend it wisely we'll be fine.

19.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 20:21:24
Aren't Barcelona also supposed to be after Christian Erikson? I'd imagine it's one or the other.

20.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 21:00:22
i guess we are looking at brandt as a replacment then!

21.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 19:36:25
Ed02 sadly being a good player let's you do what you want with some fans, his treatment of Kenny was abs disgusting and the amount of guys who still would deny any wrong doing on his behalf is truly amazing, the amount of rubbish he put the club through is sickening, I could think of a lot worse than runt to be honest.

22.) 03 May 2017
03 May 2017 19:58:25
"Squats to piss" amazing haha! Great player, horrible person!

{Ed002's Note - And true.}

23.) 04 May 2017
03 May 2017 23:32:36
Of course leaves then fair enough, he's been a great player for us and a big part of us being In a Strong position to finish in the top 4 so if they are going to pay top money and he wants to leave so be it. Personally I can't see it happening though, premiership big money is more than it was previously so I'd be asking for a fee in and around that of Pogbas for our best player which I don't think they would want to pay.
Agree on Suarez, nasty person, but Jesus can he play footy! Difficult to say you wouldn't have a player like that back. Every club has a player everyone else hates, Costa, For instance.

24.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 03:29:01
That's Ed 2 off the Suarez Christmas card list.
Lol.

25.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 07:19:14
According to ever unreliable BBC site they're offering 51m. Even if £ it is about time LFC played hardball with other people and oversold a player. Personally I think if they want him that badly and considering what others are going for stick another 20 on that.

26.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 07:42:37
Of course "it's a matter of time".
Coutinho is not going to be playing for Liverpool in 15 years time. He will definitely leave in the next 15 years therefore it is a matter of time.
I refuse to accept it is happening this summer, I still think it's to be decided. If he goes then good luck to him, he'll get a massive cheer whenever he comes back to Anfield.

Great servant to the club, he is not irreplaceable.

27.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 09:15:28
Squats to piss! ha ha. i agree with your whole retort Ed 002, except squatting is a great functional and primal movement pattern, so squatting to piss is probably a good thing! (ignoring the social and cultural dissonece of the connotations) xx.

28.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 10:53:45
Squats to pass and social and cultural dissonance of the connotations, all in one post.

My head hurts even after copying it down never mind trying to understand what it means.

If possible could someone please explain.

29.) 04 May 2017
04 May 2017 14:45:21
Squats to pass?

He's better than I thought, but still unwelcome 🤝.

30.) 05 May 2017
05 May 2017 06:19:58
Coutinho is neither good enough nor consistent enough to play for Barca's first team. He'd be on Barca's bench instead of starring for Liverpool in one of the Euro competitions.

{Ed001's Note - have you not been watching Barca lately? He would walk into their midfield.}

31.) 05 May 2017
05 May 2017 06:26:07
That's subjective of you Ed. But I have to disagree - he would struggle - he's so on and off.

{Ed001's Note - you can disagree all you like, but Barca's scouting and coaching staff disagree with you, as they want him to be a regular starter to replace Iniesta long term. I think they know a lot more than you or I do.}
