Good afternoon all hope everyone is well,
Just a quick question for Ed1 if you could please mate?
So with the arrival of Ekitike seeming near enough done. Are LFC still targeting another striker? I assume the club are wanting to sell Nunez. So are we still genuinely in for Isak or are we looking for just another solid back up and Hugo will be the main striker for us?
Also if i could too mate how do you see the rest of the window developing in your eyes with regards to us bringing in a winger? Correct me if i am wrong but i assume if Diaz goes as we know Chiesa is most likely going too, i assume we will target another top class winger who is versatile like Rodrygo? Is it a case mate of we are still actively in the market for a striker and if Diaz goes we will target another top class versatile winger?
Cheers as always for your work mate.
{Ed001's Note - yes.
We are targeting Ekitike because he offers wing cover too, so we might not go for another wide man thus summer.}

I think gakpo is probably first choice, then ekitike, wirtz and hopefully Ngumoha all able to cover if Diaz goes.

I think this is exactly the move.
Liverpool want two forward players. One is a bonafide centre forward, the other is an adaptable pacy player who can play across the front line, including down the middle.
On the one hand, you have the Isak route, a world class centre forward for whom there is no real alternative. On the other, a tricky wide player like Rodrygo, Fofana or Gordon who can play in multiple positions.
It is becoming clear to me that we haven’t targeted Ekitike instead of Isak, rather that we’ve gone for him first because he can fill either one of those roles. If we don’t get Isak, our starting centre forward is Ekitike, there and ready to go, with the wide option being Rodrygo or someone else.
However if we DO get Isak, then Ekitike becomes the adaptable wide option. It seemed silly at first, but the more you watch of him, the more sense it makes. Quick, technically brilliant, tricky can hold onto the ball, excellent build up play, significant experience playing in multiple positions across the front line. The only thing which makes it a bit weird is the fact that he is so tall, but everything else makes perfect sense.
Buying him first was, in hindsight, the most rational thing to do, because you cover yourself in all departments irrespective of who joins or leaves thereafter.

Not a bad shout, Livered esp. since Chiesa is very likely to leave.

I think Ekitike is the Jota replacement. But also our first option if Isak didn’t sign. A very opportunistic moment.
Isak was (and still is first choice) . Still expect Nunez to go.
If Diaz leaves we may stick with Rio or we may go into the transfer market again. Exciting times.
