Lfctransfers reporting Eichorn has said no to LFC. Wants to stay in Germany.
09 Jun 2026 14:46:18
That's come from Plettigoal so I'd take that with a pinch of salt. There's a private jet from Berlin to Liverpool tomorrow.
09 Jun 2026 15:11:53
Then straight into the Babelcopter. ๐
09 Jun 2026 15:17:10
Other German news outlets reporting the same. Apparently it's between Leipzig and Leverkusen now.
09 Jun 2026 16:13:32
He literally cannot sign for us, he's only 16. He can only sign for EU clubs. We were never a viable option, as the only thing we can negotiate is a pre-agreement to purchase him at 18, which would force him to stay at his current 2nd division club.
With the attention he's garnered, that was clearly never going to happen. This one was a non-starter from the get-go.
09 Jun 2026 16:55:09
Hold your horses. This is about navigating legalities and doing things properly.
It's still on.
09 Jun 2026 16:59:13
Kenny Squirrel turning us down?
He must be nuts.
09 Jun 2026 17:25:04
Apparently he will sign for a Bundesliga club with a release clause, which Liverpool will activate when he turns 18. The player's long term desire is to join Liverpool when he is able to. That's according to ITK Space anyway.
09 Jun 2026 18:11:41
Not 100% true, Chewy. On the top level this would be correct, but there are ways to navigate it. For instance, the parents can relocate to the UK and then we apply for a FIFA permit for the under age player, etc.
There are ways, however, looks like he's staying in Germany.
09 Jun 2026 18:31:52
As things stand, it's impossible. Relocating the parents isn't an option either. That can only happen if the parents relocate independently, for reasons unrelated to football. If his family did relocate, there would be an investigation, and we'd likely be hit with a hefty fine, a transfer ban and nulling of the player's contract.
09 Jun 2026 18:41:24
I'm just saying it can and has and will again happen.
Where there is a will there is a way.
09 Jun 2026 14:21:40
Gjivai Zechiel I've been told was a player we were very closely looking at.
With a change in manager and prices being sky high for other midfield targets, I'll be curious to see if we follow up our interest further.
Ta.
09 Jun 2026 14:49:04
Never heard of him, but cheers, Carra.
09 Jun 2026 15:13:55
Thank you much, Carra. I wonder, is Wharton still a target now Iraola is here? ๐ค
09 Jun 2026 15:17:28
Also had never heard of him, but reading up on him, he sounds very underwhelming. Many Utrecht fans have been complaining about his "nonchalant defending" and "lack of effort". On the flip side, many others have been massively praising his playmaking.
He got 10 goals and 10 assists in 50 games last season, and also looks like he never misses a game despite playing 90 minutes most weeks.
I'll keep an open mind, but getting mixed reviews in the Dutch league is a red flag. Against such weak opposition, you'd hope any prospective signing for a club like Liverpool was standing out week in week out.
09 Jun 2026 15:19:33
Don't know how good he is. But I like the idea of going for some hidden gems once and a while to spend bigger in other areas.
Hopefully, our scouting department is good enough to find some of these to compliment the bigger priced signings. Quality will still need to be a high level. He looks decent on YouTube.
09 Jun 2026 15:29:01
Remember Sky Sports reporting a Scottish footy team were buying Yema Selsavon. ๐คฃ
09 Jun 2026 15:31:22
Think I would rather gamble on our own youth prospects than "gamble" on any player without a track record of note ...
09 Jun 2026 15:41:07
He sounds underwhelming.
09 Jun 2026 15:46:58
He isn't good enough for LFC.
09 Jun 2026 16:18:27
"Nonchalant defending" and "lack of effort." Maybe that's why Slot wanted him. He was on loan at Utrecht from Feyenoord, so Slot must have known him from there. Let's hope the club have moved on from him.
09 Jun 2026 16:34:42
Looking at his match ratings from this season, it looks like he is consistently excellent, but every now and then he throws in an absolute stinker.
09 Jun 2026 16:15:57
No more Dutch imports right now please and thank you
09 Jun 2026 16:53:04
Cheers, Carra. That's some name.
09 Jun 2026 17:08:11
He is a big scorer....
... in Scrabble!
Cheers, Carra.
09 Jun 2026 18:01:23
Yeah. Nonchalant defending has me put as well, if true.
But I stick by finding a few hidden gems. Like, I believe Geovanni Leoni is going to me. Those 20-30mill signings that turn out to be more than that.
09 Jun 2026 18:51:46
So defends just like VVD then. ๐ง
09 Jun 2026 18:58:01
Looks small, weak, lightweight, and tackle shy, hard pass as he's clearly a Slot kind of midfielder.
09 Jun 2026 14:19:11
Are there any legs in Marmadashvilli actually wanting to leave now Alisson is staying?
I'm certainly not struck on him, left-footed keepers do not give me any confidence whatsoever for some reason.
Cheers,
09 Jun 2026 15:14:40
Alison has far nicer legs.
09 Jun 2026 15:41:26
And nicer hair and beard.
09 Jun 2026 15:45:26
Only when he shaves, Barry.
09 Jun 2026 10:02:04
LFC are interested in Nnamdi Collins, who can play both centre-back and right-back. He is from Eintracht, and the club are open to sell the lad after the World Cup.
09 Jun 2026 11:20:23
It does seem like Inter are closer to Palestra anyway.
09 Jun 2026 11:39:07
Interesting, also young and (according to FIFA, sorry!) is pretty quick.
Like the fact he is reasonably tall so would be a commanding presence in the CB role.
Interested to see whether we go into Geertruida (similar profile, bit older) or whether that interest was only ever there as he and Slot worked together in the past.
09 Jun 2026 11:56:36
I'm with you, Zed.
I really like the thought of Geertruida as a more economical option if the likes of Kayode and others are not attainable.
And I still hold hope Frimpong will do well in the new system. With the leash off, direct play and forward runners, it should suit him.
09 Jun 2026 12:13:00
Geertruida was one of my wishes when we had Slot. Now with Iraola, I'm not so sure.
09 Jun 2026 12:36:27
I get too, too, Faithinworks. He is not exactly a flying full back/crosser type.
I heard a value of 17m. I think he is great value at that, and pretty good going forward.
To be honest though, there must be a lot of right backs out there. Surely they can find a decently priced option that works.
09 Jun 2026 12:50:06
The profile of RB we need probably depends on the midfield choices we make.
09 Jun 2026 13:26:18
Come on, Carra, give us Yr daily dose.
What's happening inside the world's greatest football club.
Can't wait any longer, mate!!
Make something up if nothing new. We need your thoughts, any thoughts apart from anything to do with England's World Cup chances. Couldn't give a toss, rather watch paint drying in the blazing hot sun.
Thanks in advance......
09 Jun 2026 14:11:15
Until the system is understood it's difficult to know who the best transfer targets would be.
He seems to prefer a more dynamic system with a 4231 or 433 shape. It also depends what the real fitness issue with Macca is and whether there's a view he can recover his mobility and form, and what fee we could get if he's done. All the noise on Wharton and the Bournemouth player suggests he's gone.
With Connor's injury there's a need for an out and out right back, I'd guess the Italian as he'll be easier to get than Koyode.
You can also see why we're pushing hard for Diomande as he can play right or left, which makes him valuable and would mean it's not as desperate to buy for both flanks.
I think Mama will go as well now Alli is staying, so another backup keeper in or return for Jaros.
Beyond that I can't see us doing much business unless a lot of the fringe players like Curtis, Harvey and Jo leave, in which case we might bring a rotation option in for midfield.
It leaves the squad thin but that's the way we've always been run.
09 Jun 2026 09:05:40
Any news on Eichhorn? According to Sky Sports Germany, his release clause is only valid till the 15th this month.
09 Jun 2026 09:39:57
It is true.
09 Jun 2026 11:28:02
A release clause is valid for the registration of the player. Liverpool cannot hold his registration until he turns 18 (July 2027).
What is possible is Liverpool are negotiating something outside of the clause to secure him in the future and hope no EU club activates it before the expiry date.
Any talk of Liverpool buying him and loaning him out as a sweetener is rubbish.
09 Jun 2026 11:37:44
I would have thought it made perfect sense, Threeps.
09 Jun 2026 12:35:33
We can't legally buy him, so the release clause doesn't matter; we can only negotiate a pre-agreement to purchase when he turns 18.
09 Jun 2026 08:10:09
To all the ITKs.
Which midfielders are most likely to join the club as it stands, who have we made contact with or spoken to the agents of?
Wharton would not be in my top 5 potential targets personally, I would choose 1 or 2 of the below before him.
Sangare
Sadiki
Camara
Stiller
Kone (Would have been Ederson before Utd got him for ยฃ35m)
Any chances any of the above will join?
09 Jun 2026 09:11:01
A lot of rumours are pointing towards Alex Scott. It's not clear yet if that's just lazy journalism because we appointed Iraola though.
09 Jun 2026 09:19:12
Scott and Sangare/Camara for me.
Presuming Elliot, Endo, Jones and Macca all leave.
Stiller next on the list then.
Wharton would be last on my list too. Not what we need now as good as he is.
09 Jun 2026 10:44:54
I get why people don't rate Wharton that much but for me he's a very good, very progressive midfielder.
He's a lot more mobile than he actually looks, technically he's very good, his vision and passing is excellent, and he's young enough to be molded into what we want from him. The price and Palace are a bit of an issue, but he's definitely somebody I think would improve our squad, and, although it does always sound quite disrespectful to say things like this, I think we need more English players in the first team squad.
He's also very well thought of in the professional football community and coming through at Blackburn he was a very stand out player and often played levels way above his age bracket.
I personally think he would be a very good signing for us, one that after a few years we'd be very surprised with.
09 Jun 2026 10:56:39
Assuming Endo, Elliot Jones, and MacAlister go, then I would like us to replace them with Sangare, Camara, Scott, and Yirenkyi.
Iraola needs midfielders with big engines and a bit of agro.
09 Jun 2026 11:03:33
GBB86, It's not necessarily about Wharton's perceived ability, it's whether he's the right type of player at this time. Last summer, there was a lot of activity around attackers, resulting in the defence being overlooked despite us screaming out for at least another CB.
We cannot afford to make the same mistake; fix the holes in the roof before deciding which decorative tiles to put on it!
09 Jun 2026 11:14:10
Isn't Harvey much similar to Scott and a bit younger with some potential still?
09 Jun 2026 11:39:58
While Alex Scott is a good player, he is a no8. We have one 8 in Gravy who will just give a massive contract to, and one no8 in Szobo that we are trying to tie down to a big deal. Plus we have Trey Nyoni that should be ready to step up his first team game time now.
I am not really seeing the vision with Scott here unless one of those is sold.
If Macca and Curtis are to be sold (still hope Curtis stays), I would be looking at one of Sangare/Camara and one of Wharton/Stiller.
09 Jun 2026 12:11:43
Marma, yeah I fully understand that, but we don't even know how we're going to set up and play tactically yet, in real terms.
We don't actually know what peg for what hole yet, and I feel, regardless of us wanting a midfield destroyer as fans, I just don't think that profile fits with fast, expansive, back to front football we're hopefully going to see.
Yes, it's been a staple of successful midfields in the past, but I feel the game has changed so much that the profile of such a player has changed and might not really exist any longer to what we'd previously compare against.
But hey ho, that's me and my thoughts. Be interesting to see what, who and how it all unfolds.
09 Jun 2026 12:26:29
Red-JC, Harvey Elliott and Alex Scott are nothing alike mate. Elliott is a no.10 in the Odegaard or Ozil mould, whereas Scott is more of an no.8/10 hybrid in the Szboszlai or Lallana mould.
Scott is a hard running and aggressive box to box midfielder; a perfect replacement for Mac Allister (who allegedly is looking to leave) in an Iraola team. Scott's a physical player who can press extremely well. I'd honestly see him as someone who could dovetail with Szoboszlai, getting forward to overload the opposition defence, then working back quickly when possession is lost to help the team defend. They'd be a formidable duo in my opinion alternating between the no.8 and no.10 positions, but they would still need a dedicated no.6 sat behind them though to give them that freedom.
I'd imagine Iraola might want to assess McConnell, Endo, Gravenberch and Bajcetic before signing a new no.6 but that could be tricky with Grav and Endo at the World Cup. I personally would like Lamine Camara to come in to be that player. Where that would leave an extremely overpaid Gravenberch though, is quite the conundrum, because he's probably our 3rd highest paid player behind Virgil and Isak now. You can't pay him (a reported) ยฃ280k/week to be sat on the bench, but also if Iraola doesn't fancy him as a no.6, he just isn't a no.8. He flopped there in 23/24 under Klopp and he flopped there in 25/26 under Slot. His only good season for us was as the no.6 in 24/25.
For me, Wirtz should be in the front 3. I simply don't see him as a midfielder in an Iraola team, as he's not strong enough to go man-to-man in midfield. So Scott coming in to replace Mac Allister would be my preference. If Slot had stayed, I wanted Wharton, but with Slot going that transfer now makes zero sense because Wharton is miles off being mobile enough to play in an Iraola side. Iraola takes many of his philosophies from Bielsa (who was his coach for 3 years) but with a slight twist. Bielsa went man-to-man to the literal sense where you'd follow your assigned man wherever he went, whereas Iraola plays a zonal-man-to-man press where you man-mark whoever comes into your assigned zone. Wharton simply cannot do that as he's not strong or mobile enough. Wirtz has the mobility, but is also too weak hence why I think he'll play LW or RW.
It will be very interesting to see what approach we take now in midfield. Iraola is so different to Slot and physicality, speed and energy are a trademark of his sides, especially in midfield. Szoboszlai is going to thrive for sure.
09 Jun 2026 12:34:20
I wouldn't say there's been anything substantial that we are signing Scott, so may not happen.
I don't think like Wharton to be honest, and with the right coaching and in a better team, he will improve.
I would rather we signed Anderson of Forrest, but it doesn't look like we are in the mix for him, which seems odd as he's exactly what we need in the middle.
09 Jun 2026 13:01:33
GBB, Absolutely a lot is up in the air until AI gets a hold of the players and can assess how they fit into the system. This will be a big season for Grav and Szobo regarding which player role they will need to adopt.
09 Jun 2026 17:26:31
Diomande
Trincao
Zaire Emery (if we sell Macca)
Sangare
CB and RB.
08 Jun 2026 17:22:52
Hi all,
The leading contender to replace Richard Hughes in the event of a departure to Al Hilal is David Woodfine.
08 Jun 2026 17:37:22
This Daviddefinitely Wood be a Fine replacement...... ahem.... Seriously though, I haven't got a clue who he is.
08 Jun 2026 17:37:46
Wood that be a fine choice, Vic? Don't know anything about him.
08 Jun 2026 17:40:01
Is he any good at his job.
08 Jun 2026 17:45:12
How do I delete posts? On reading this back, I realise through my poor attempt at humour that I've made a fool of myself.... Sorry, everyone, let the side down there.... I'll have a word with myself.
08 Jun 2026 17:47:35
Yes, I think it would be a fine appointment personally.
08 Jun 2026 17:51:31
Is just a promotion from internal. He is under Hughes currently. No idea on his credentials or performance.
08 Jun 2026 17:54:24
Current assistant to Hughes. Worked with the club under Edwards and left when he did. Was head of scouting and then loan management before leaving the club. Came back with Hughes.
08 Jun 2026 18:02:44
Meijer, take it easy, you didn't abuse anybody. We all say or do something silly from time to time.
08 Jun 2026 18:09:11
"We all say or do something silly from time to time."
I think you will find I'm perfect all of the time. ;)
08 Jun 2026 18:11:52
Meijer, it was funny!
08 Jun 2026 18:12:47
Thx, Vic. Preciate you.
08 Jun 2026 18:27:18
Best thing that could happen if Nunez returned on a free, his workrate and fight is just what this team needs, a warrior to show the others how to run with fire in their bellies.
Could always sell in a year or 2 if it doesn't work out and any money would probably pay for all of his wages.
Attitude is 100% what we want to see and maybe the new gaffer can fine tune him.
No brainer, especially as Ekitike not available and cash needed for other areas of the pitch.
08 Jun 2026 18:27:58
Excuse me, sir, but I have never done something silly on this site. ๐คจ
08 Jun 2026 18:30:06
I say something stupid 106% of the time.
08 Jun 2026 18:46:38
Depends on your definition of silly Barry. ๐
08 Jun 2026 19:20:12
Very true JLC.
08 Jun 2026 20:14:29
Good pornstar name that.
08 Jun 2026 20:46:27
Since Woodfine is an Edwards guy, this would probably mean that the latter is consolidating his power. Hughes leaves, and Edwards has his man in the talent collection role.
08 Jun 2026 21:05:36
I don't think he's going anywhere, I think he's here for the next couple of years minimum.
08 Jun 2026 21:59:53
Isn't Woodfine the guy that had been responsible for managing the loan programme over the last few years? Not sure that has been a resounding success, has it?
I'm sure he's done more than that, but I hope he's not a patsy.
08 Jun 2026 23:43:03
Not even a real dude, and I'm already Woodfine Out! He's garbage
09 Jun 2026 01:06:41
I hope he does well, Victor.
I'm curious about the possibility of Diomande.
And who will be the next target?
09 Jun 2026 07:30:08
Does anyone know what experience he has before calling it a good appointment? Let's face it, it's not an easy job to do. It's probably one of the biggest jobs to take over in world football!
08 Jun 2026 15:53:44
Any legs on Nunez returning to LFC? Have seen some (I know not the best source) chatter on X/Twitter that he is interested on returning and will leave as a free agent.
I would love to see him back. Always loved his passion and spirit.
08 Jun 2026 16:30:17
I hope not - the amount of chances he missed, I mean, haa everyone forgotten this?
Plus Edwards and co seem adamant to get rid of every player that played for us and reset. Edwards wouldn't want to bring back a player Klopp bought. It'll be like admitting defeat.
08 Jun 2026 16:31:49
Any legs on Nunez?
At the last count it's rumoured that he has two.
08 Jun 2026 16:45:59
Nuno was a warrior for us, and we didn't have many of those last season.
His best position was coming in off the left, but he never got many chances there due to Lucho being so great and Gakpo, being so Dutch.
08 Jun 2026 17:10:00
Hopefully, that's one for Hughes' opportunistic signings.
08 Jun 2026 17:39:55
We could put a barn door on the pitch at the AXA and hand him a shovel. Start with that. Seriously tho, I wouldn't be averse to him returning. Worst case we can sell him back to the Saudis next summer!
08 Jun 2026 17:59:29
Would love him back. Give him the left wing role and back up striker, as we are short there, especially if he is free!
08 Jun 2026 18:00:05
I love him and would welcome him back. I'd imagine if it happened, it would be on reduced wages and he'd be incentivised by a performance based contract.
08 Jun 2026 18:08:27
I'm behind his return 100%. We don't have numbers for the squad, and he would give us 150% whenever introduced into a game. Why would we not want a free, athletic, aggressive addition?
08 Jun 2026 18:10:03
Yes, OP, but his legs are offside.
08 Jun 2026 18:14:53
I really wanted Nunez to work, but he was very average and he was even worse at the end because he was sulking and putting in less than 100% effort in.
So, unless he has changed, I would not want him back.
08 Jun 2026 18:15:15
Where are these Nunez return stories coming from - probably "caught offside".
08 Jun 2026 18:27:15
Nunez had 33 G/A in 23/24, which was 6 more than Isak, but Nunez is average and Isak is Elite.
08 Jun 2026 18:28:43
We judged on him being a ยฃ75m player. If he came in free to cover Ekitike, scored nine goals to cover Isak, that would be fine.
08 Jun 2026 18:43:57
In 3 years he showed he wasn't up to standard.
How many of the top sides in the EPL would he get into?
He stopped trying towards the end. Is that the attitude you'd want around a rebuilding team, losing most of its leaders from the dressing room?
Nostalgia signing, which I understand, but wouldn't back personally.
08 Jun 2026 19:01:28
If we signed him, he'd probably miss the plane.
08 Jun 2026 19:39:54
He was far better as a left winger than a striker. I would take him on a free, we need a lot of players this window, and I doubt we have the cash for them all to be world class.
08 Jun 2026 20:20:22
Really? People really can't get over their exes on here. He wasn't good enough first time, but people still want to go back. Jesus.
08 Jun 2026 20:24:35
Logically we need a striker to cover fit Ekitike's recovery. Beyond all the misgivings, he is a free transfer and he'd be here to cover Isak and give squad depth. Can play left wing or centre forward, and would probably thrive under a coach who was tutored by Bielsa.
I mean yeah, he has a bozo gene, but can anyone legitimately come up with a cheap decent option? Worst case, we sell him again and make a profit this time.
08 Jun 2026 20:35:26
I'm all for signing someone on loan or on a free to cover Ekitike.
We have to sign someone who can play up front. Isak can't play every game, and Gakpo is terrible there.
If Nunez is genuinely the best option the club can find for a short term fix, then let's go.
He's at the very least entertaining, even if he can't a barn door.
08 Jun 2026 20:33:43
Based on that opinion Fatwallet I bet you must be gutted how Salah worked out with us back in the Premier League after his crap spell at Chelsea?
08 Jun 2026 21:35:14
Re-joining us on a free?
Filling the striker/wide left position, which needs reinforcement?
He's a pressing monster.
But, if it doesn't work, we sell for a fee.
Absolutely nothing to lose by bringing back Nunez.
08 Jun 2026 22:23:48
Bazzinga, Salah didn't leave after being crap and then people wanting him back.
No one mentioned Salah and Chelsea, mute point.
08 Jun 2026 23:52:41
Absolutely should bring him back if it becomes an option to do so. No brainer for me.
Need cover up top for Ekitike anyway, the Anfield crowd love him, and can play up top and, more importantly, left wing, where most people on here want us to sell our current first choice and rely on a 17 year old kid every game.
Yes he looked disinterested in a couple of his last games for us, but that's no better than 90% of the squad last year. Shall we get rid of all them to?
We also can't rely on Isak to start every game. If it's a choice between Nunez and Gakpo up front for us, I'd choose Nunez all day, every day and I actually like Gakpo.
09 Jun 2026 09:12:54
Nunez?? God no, horrendous player, not good at his job, which is a striker, caught offside more than any player in his first 2 seasons. Actually got worse at it, which shows he hasn't the brain to improve it. So bring him back and play him left wing because he's crap at his primary job, absolutely not.
09 Jun 2026 09:15:52
"Nunez was a warrior for us" ๐๐๐
He just ran around a lot, mostly in an off side position.
09 Jun 2026 12:24:32
Nunez was a tryer who gave his all but unfortunately wasn't good enough at the level we needed him to be so don't bring him back. The same can be said about Harvey Elliot. He was sent to AV and they had the option to buy but didn't keep their end of the bargain.
He wasn't good enough but very likeable. Only other 2 I can think of that came back were Rush and Fowler.
09 Jun 2026 13:54:12
I'd have him back on a free, for most of his tenure he worked his arse off for the team something we need right now, even tho Newcastle aside - barndoor and banjo applies to his finishing.
Would really like to see a bit of English talent in the team as well, where has it all gone, are the academies not producing or is it just the stupid amount of money required to buy homegrown talent these days, doesn't bode well for the future whichever the case?

Hughes leaves and Thiago appointed as DoF.
08 Jun 2026 15:59:51
I'd take that.
08 Jun 2026 16:14:12
Opinion or fact?
08 Jun 2026 16:14:56
Ah, another IKFA post.
08 Jun 2026 16:15:00
It's a nice idea from a sentimental standpoint. What is Thiago's experience as a DoF?
08 Jun 2026 16:22:19
He had plenty of time sitting in the stands, so maybe that gave him some insight?
08 Jun 2026 16:31:34
Sweet FA, dbav.
08 Jun 2026 16:32:01
If Hughes goes, it will be his understudy taking over. Thiago could come in as a coach.
08 Jun 2026 16:35:29
Thiago is a coach, not a DOF.
08 Jun 2026 16:43:19
That sounds like a terrible idea.
08 Jun 2026 18:45:15
It's a rumour I started when I was dream teaming. Thiago knows more about football than pretty well all other DoF in the Prem. He is also intelligent and well respected. An upgrade on all counts in my book.

@Jari, just because someone makes something up you do know that it isn't a rumour don't you?
