Frankfurt have rejected Newcastle’s bid for Ekitike apparently.

if we do get Isak and that is a massive IF
It still likely means we'll be saying goodbye to Diaz and also Nunez which literally just leaves Salah Isak and Gakpo as our choices.

That would be an insanely great top 3 but if any of them get injured the drop off will be severe.

i'd be keen on Mateta as a backup,

Rotation of Wirtz, Elliot etc filling on the wings if we ever need it.

Bayern are preparing a new offer for Diaz according to Florian Pettenberg.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:43:02
49 million and 25 cents?

 3

15 Jul 2025 12:50:53
58.6 million pound bid for Diaz from bayern Munich rejected.

15 Jul 2025 13:08:21
£58m 🤣 don’t shoot don’t score i suppose.
Stick another £20m on that.

15 Jul 2025 13:28:29
I presume that mean Lucho or his agent, has told them he's open to the move?

Let’s be real, Diaz isn’t an £80m player in any market apart from the Saudi one, they are the only teams that would look to put in an offer like that or meet our ‘asking price’. I know things can change but we seemed open to moving him on, unless this was all just PR for contract negotiations, indicating we have interest in other LW to somehow get an advantage at the negotiation table with Diaz reps.

I just think based on what we know, he clearly has a desire to leave and we have been open to a sale at the right price, I think in that instance, £60-70m is the right price. Same with Nunez, he’s a £50-60m player so anything in that range should be accepted and we move on to better targets. Whilst Diaz has been one of our better forwards, he’s still relatively unproductive and hasn’t shown he wants to be here on multiple occasions now. We want players that want to be here and win, so the likes of Nunez, Diaz and konate we should look to move on if that’s their desire. Especially when there are quality replacements out there interested in joining us.

Im guessing our unwillingness to sell might be because the replacements would be difficult to get at reasonable prices or wages (Gordon would cost a fortune and isn’t worth the fees being suggested and rodrygo would demand mad wages etc) . Diaz might just be seen as a safe bet to stick with based on these factors.

67 million bid from bayern for diaz rejected.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:44:30
Whats the asking price anyone?

 0

15 Jul 2025 12:49:07
Eh that'll be 67.5m euros, which is like £58m, they're absolute pish takers.

 3

15 Jul 2025 12:50:42
£67m or €67m? A significant £9m difference in bid amounts.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:56:26
670 million pound.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:59:21
Bid was 67m euros. Will take a lot closer to 80m euros to get it over the line.

 2

15 Jul 2025 13:03:04
It's saying the club value him at €100m+.

15 Jul 2025 13:08:41
I just keep coming back to the fact that Elanga went for 55m, Diaz surely is worth 20m more than that at the very least.

😁😁😁😁😁 I love the financial analysis - especially the comedy routines about, Sterling, Euros, Dollars and Bottle Tops.

This is all laughable. Euros, dollars, bitcoins and wool bobbins. The money talk is scheisse.

Has Diaz asked to leave ref DO?

Seems like bayern have turned his head .
. any chance he stays with improved contract. ir we okay hard ball and he stays as he is under contract?

15 Jul 2025 12:59:30
I personally would take bayerns bid 58 million pounds is acceptable, rather that than lose him on a free in a couple of years.
But then on the other hand this team realy is getting dismantled and rebuilt and too much change too quickly is a concern I have.

15 Jul 2025 13:03:10
By September this team is going to look
A lot different
I can’t see Diaz Nunez Elliott or even konate staying now u know.

 1

15 Jul 2025 13:03:15
Papers saying that Diaz has asked to leave as Bayern have prepared a £58 mil offer.

 0

15 Jul 2025 13:17:01
He still has two years left on his contract. The club is under no compulsion to sell if they don’t want to.

Morning Ed001 it seems we are giving Newcastle a free run at our second on the list striker target Ekitike with Isak being our number 1 choice do you see it realistic he might be lured away to join us? We will be looking at number 3/ 4 on the list else.

 1

{Ed001's Note - Isak is still number one choice for a reason, he wants to join us.}

15 Jul 2025 11:20:26
What type of barricade should we erect to prevent further “free runs”?

You do know if someone says “this house is for sale for £475,000” and one person says “I will pay that, seems reasonable” and someone else says “woah now, it’s not worth that” - that isn’t a free run, that’s just choosing not to buy at that price.

15 Jul 2025 11:46:26
Ekitike will make a great replacement for Isak for them.
🤞🏼.

15 Jul 2025 11:30:06
Thank you for your reply Ed. Still a change then by the sound of it. Almost like Newcastle are looking at Ekitike to replace Isak rather than play alongside him.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:26:12
I just read a very depressing article that claimed we were considering Nicolas Jackson. I'm confident it is absolute bs as it also claimed that we had tried to sign but 'missed out' on Isak, Ekitike, Gykores, Oshimen and Pedro.

 0

15 Jul 2025 12:26:48
So there still getting a free run at ekitike then 😂.

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:45:38
Slotsredmen is no doubt saying that if Newcastle go in at £75 million on a player valued at £86 million then we won't go in at £80 million, or start a bidding war over and above the asking price.

 0

15 Jul 2025 12:29:10
Ed001, obviously Newcastle don’t want to sell, but do you think once they get Ekiteke over the line, they we’ll be more open minded to the idea?

 0

{Ed001's Note - I expect they will still want to replace Wilson too and not want to reply on just one striker.}

 1

15 Jul 2025 12:47:30
Thanks for your input Whyowhy. I was meaning he is our second choice striker target thinking Isak was already out of reach. I meant I would have thought we would have bud for him but it seems Isak is still very much a possibility. The house example you used is just ridiculous and not comparable but thanks anyway for your opinion.

 3

15 Jul 2025 13:13:08
Ed1, do you think we could of agreed to give Newcastle a free run at Entitke (sp) based on us wanting Isak and once that transfer happens it could open the door for us to sign Isak?

 0

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly possible.}

 1

15 Jul 2025 13:24:47
Maybe we’re getting a free run at Jackson?

 0

15 Jul 2025 13:41:40
It’s a perfect analogy.

The reality is we don’t allow other clubs to do anything, it’s a free market.

The selling club have a price. We don’t want to pay it. That’s not weird, that is happening to us right now with Diaz. Barcelona haven’t given Bayern a free run at their second choice target.

You and I have no idea who is first, second, third or eighth choice as well. It’s all a bit daft to say “the club have done this” when we have zero idea of what the club has done, but we don’t want to have evidence to suggest the club knows it’s onions, right?

Cheers ed1! Fingers crossed! Imagine Isak in the same window as Wirtz!

{Ed025's Note - an amazing piece of double glazing there Marty.. :)

Al Hilal and Inzaghi want Nunez this summer according to Saudi Media.

15 Jul 2025 10:14:28
Darwin's old coach Jorge Jesus has also been announced at Al Nassr. The need to replace Jhon Duran.

Darwin's camp appear to be asking Napoli to hurry up too. Unfortunately for him, De Laurentiis is a madman.

 3

15 Jul 2025 10:25:42
Problem is does Nunez want them.

 2

15 Jul 2025 11:21:44
Needs to be more respect for Darwinny. Seen him called “a busted flush” and “a turd” (ed025) on here this week.

He’s not a fit for us though, not after three years.

 3

{Ed025's Note - respect has to be earned AK20 and downing tools like he did last season means hes fair game in my book, by the way i never called him a turd, i said you cant polish one mate..

 4

15 Jul 2025 11:47:13
Also a rumour AC Milan are tabling a £52 million bid, but could be absolute bull.

 4

15 Jul 2025 12:20:59
Fair play ed.

 2

15 Jul 2025 12:30:54
Was there any truth to story about us refusing to start him because 1 more start would trigger the next payment to Benfica? It wouldn't justify his apathy last season but it would go some way to explaining it.
