We have decided to change the Teams page to be the Liverpool Match Posts page, so look for posts talking about the latest Liverpool match there.

But most of the posts still go to the Liverpool Banter page.

20 Jun 2019 23:07:49
Also more posts are being added to the Liverpool Discussion Posts and the More Liverpool Posts pages.

Mornin Eds.
Reading conflicting reports of Rafa Camacho supposedly off to either Schalke or Sporting, any chance Ed002 or anyone knows what's really happening and can clear this up?

Thanks very much and have a great day.

Believable4 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Rafael Camacho (AM) Sporting still want a loan to buy deal but will have an influx of money which will allow them to commit to buying. Interest of Benfica has probably gone as they were looking to a loan with an option to buy. Wolves are interested and have been for sometime. Schalke have been in discussions with Liverpool recently and are interested in buying the player outright.}

20 Jun 2019 11:00:01
Wow great thanks a mil Ed002!

Agree6 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

20 Jun 2019 11:02:47
Thanks Ed! I am assuming, given the contract situation, we would do a loan to buy?

Do you think he has the qualities to of been given a chance at some point? Whenever I have seen him he has been decent enough but difficult to judge given his lack of experience!

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool want to sell him. He has been told he will get chances and that was untrue - he has also said when he did play it was out of position. This is the growing problem the Premier League clubs are seeing - the kids want immediate first team game time and those who have been promised chances (which we know Klopp does) then get miffed and want to move on. A month or so ago I was with the Sporting Director (and very high end scout) of a German side and he was in London looking at kids from Arsenal, Fulham and Chelsea and he was explaining that German sides are going to be pushing to look to signing kids from England as they offer realistic routes in to the top-level game. So lots of sides from Germany are looking.}

20 Jun 2019 12:05:22
It must be difficult for young players to be promised stuff like that for it to just be a lie!

I do think we should be giving more opportunities when maybe we are comfortable in a game to maybe let players like Camacho have 10/ 15mins of experience.

I just don’t get why managers don’t do that more often, and would of assumed Klopp would be someone of that ilk, do you think the pressure of being at Liverpool has led him to be less youth driven? I know at Dortmund he was really good at nurturing youth.

I believe the same thing Ed, it is an interesting approach by German clubs and one that we have seen is fruitful, we as a country of academy’s produce quite a lot of decent players but as you say we don’t ever offer as much exposure as German clubs.

What would be your approach to youth at Liverpool so that we are still offering a route to the first team and exposure that makes us seem an attractive club for your players and their development?

Agree1 2Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing better than they used to but it is not structured or managed well still.}

20 Jun 2019 13:00:38
I suppose the difficulty managers have is that they may fully intend giving young players some time on the pitch but then that gets pushed aside once a certain group of players starts doing well. I doubt any Liverpool supporter - sad but true - wanted to see Camacho replace any of our players in the first team last season given we were pushing so hard for the league and CL. If he was playing out of his skin in training and the U21s then maybe he'd have got more chances but do we know if that was the case? Probably not.

Agree2 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - The answer is don't make promises or kowtow to players.}

20 Jun 2019 16:18:02
Agreed Ed, if that filters through the youth teams of broken promises that’s going to have a negative impact on the rest of them.

Agree0 1Disagree

20 Jun 2019 16:42:15
Half the problem is expectancy of fans. If a young player doesn't hit the ground running or isn't Neymar then there's howls of "he's crap, get rid, spend £60 million on a suitable replacement". And this coming from fans who playing wise aren't fit to kiss the studs of the young players they're busy slagging off.
Unfortunately the sheer majority of fans these days have no idea at all of what it's like for players trying to climb through the ranks and stake their claim for a spot in the team/ squad.

Agree2 0Disagree

20 Jun 2019 17:21:37
I think the problem (albeit a good problem) is that we're now at a standard 1 point behind an excellent Man City team and European Champions.

If we were still finishing 7th, like when Klopp took over, had an injury to our right sided attacker/ winger, and Shaqiri's signing just didn't work out, the likes of Camacho may have been given a chance.

The stakes are higher now that the level of quality in the squad is much higher and our attackers have been pretty much injury free.

It's different trying to break into the first team for an upper mid-table side than it is to break into a serial European finalists and title challengers side.

Agree5 0Disagree

20 Jun 2019 22:10:57
Personally I'd say if the youth players were actually good enough to displace the starting 11 and were leaving we would have a problem.

Liverpool won’t consider another Championship loan deal for Wilson.
Wilson will be assessed in pre-season before Jurgen Klopp makes any final decision on his future.

Believable4 4Unbelievable

20 Jun 2019 11:04:00
I think we are currently pricing him out of a move anywhere at the moment! He had a decent season at derby but the goal return doesn’t reflect his overall output for the team.

I do hope he proves us all wrong but I have a feeling he isn’t quite ready or up to the standard we are wanting.

I have read that LFC have looked at Junior Firpo of Real Betis. The 22 year old is predominantly a Left back but able to cover left wing and CB.

Believable1 1Unbelievable

20 Jun 2019 09:44:33
Looks ideal on youtube. And everybody knows youtube clips are golden when judging a players ability. :)

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Firpo is not moving to Liverpool to play as cover - he would be first choice if there were any interest.}

20 Jun 2019 12:02:12
How is the young lad Anderson Arroyo doing - was his loan to Gent a waste of time?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Anderson Arroyo (LB) will have to be loaned again as WP issues will persist. Questions have arisen that he has struggled to settle and he was not seen as good enough to play for the Gent first team. Relegated Nurnberg and struggling Deportivo de La Coruna are potential options for him - clearly any side in Spain might ease issues with his settling and ease him in to Europe.}

19 Jun 2019 19:28:04
1. Milan have cooled their interest in Dejan Lovren, acc. to very reliable Fabrizio Romano.

2. Acc. to Melissa Reddy, Liverpool will not sanction the sale of Divock Origi during this transfer window - even if it means losing him on a free next summer.
His representatives have been in discussions with the club over fresh terms.

So much of negativity about Origi. The lad has worked his socks off to get back into Klopp's plans.

As it is, Klopp does not field a natural striker. So why on earth would Klopp want to get rid of Origi when Studge has left?

Semifinal and Final scorer for gid sakes! He deserves a new deal and gametime. Kept himself fit and firing when needed, no groaning either. Is immensely talented and definitely an asset to our team. Give him a deal rather than wasting money on a, b, c targets who may or may not cut it.

Agree7 1Disagree

20 Jun 2019 08:53:04
Would never understand the panic about Origi myself. Before his injury at Everton, we all saw what he could do when confident as he effectively put Studge on the bench. We all know he's yet to reach that height of confidence but in there clearly lies a decent player.

They say his hold up play is bad, his passing is bad and so on but what do you expect from a player who's often used as a super sub? Many keep talking about City's back up striker in Gab Jesus but is he even that much of an upgrade over Origi? That lad is one of the many reasons we call no. 6 with joy today. He and Matip deserves not just a new deal but a raise!

Agree4 0Disagree

20 Jun 2019 20:02:38
Matip deserves a new contract if his current one is nearing the end, but definitely not a raise. He's already on high wages due to him coming on a bosman, so there'll be no need to be giving him a raise.

Good morning or afternoon which ever part of the world you reside from.

Liverpool are close to completing a deal
for Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon.

The deal isn't directly linked with Rafael Camacho going the other way, two totally separate deals.

We've got

All of whom when fully fit are starters and all vying for 3 places.
We need to lose at least one as it is. At the moment it's Lallana
who has unfortunately fallen down the pecking order.
I seriously hope this rumour is bs. We do not need another midfielder.

Agree4 24Disagree

19 Jun 2019 14:03:46
People keep coming out with all these midfielders we have but if we want to go to the next level we need to be ruthless.

We have 3 attacking midfielders. Keita, Lallana and Ox. The only one who has proven he is good enough is Ox, and none of them have proven they can be relied on 30 games a season. If there is a chance to sign a player with 32 goals and 18 assists from midfield, you don't turn them down to remain loyal to players who had little to no impact over the last 12 month's.

Milner, Henderson, Gini and Fabinho are our only midfielders who earned their salaries last season and they're all better as box to box / holding midfielders.

Agree23 7Disagree

19 Jun 2019 14:20:11
Odd thing Liverpool would be spending valuable time scouting a player, they don't have the need for then.

Agree0 7Disagree

{Ed001's Note - why would that be odd? Teams have to scout players because you never know when you might need one. Illness or injury can end a player's career at any moment, for example.}

19 Jun 2019 14:34:17
We need another attacking midfielder in my opinion, we have enough forwards but no AM.

This is how i see your list above
Henderson - Box 2 box / DM
Wijnaldum - Box 2 box
Fabinho - DM
MIlner - Box 2 Box / AM (But ageing won't be a major starter)
Keita - Box 2 box
Oxlade-Chamberlain - AM (Coming back from a heavy layoff)
Lallana - Should be sold, as can't be relied upon.

From how i seen it we only have 2 AM one of which is ageing and will possibly only have 1 more season and Ox who has just come back from a long injury and could easily get a few niggles keeping him out for short periods. That means we are back to just Box 2 box midfielders and DM with little creativity coming from the midfield. I know a lot of our chances come from our fullbacks, but we need to have more options in attacking, someone to play balls through the defence. Although i do believe this is one of Keita's strong points in his game, so hopefully he steps up there.

Are we doing it ed? Or is it going to be another fekir. oh no i just jinxed us😣😣😣.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - I am not entirely sure I understand the question. All of Liverpool’s efforts (as far as the fans are concerned) appear to be working on Pepe to replace Salah, Mbappe to replace Pepe and Dembele to replace Mbappe (or something like that.}

19 Jun 2019 15:16:09
I said it before and i will say it again, if we do not REFRESH our squad this window, we will end up like Spurs.
Lallana and to some extent Ox cannot be relied on. Lallana is past his best and Ox just coming back from an injury where he gets his speed from.
So tell me why we can't scout and bid for Fernandes and the like?

Agree7 11Disagree

19 Jun 2019 15:24:22

So we have the highest points total in the history of the club AND win a champs league at the same time and everyone wants to suddenly change the first 11?

Whether flashy or not that first 11 IS capable of winning a title and probably will. But if start changing players we will also affects tactics and team chemistry.

Personally I hope we don't sign anyone for the first 11. We need viable back ups not starting 11.

Agree5 12Disagree

19 Jun 2019 16:57:04
Nevada we don’t need to replace the starting 11 but we do need cover for both full backs as they can’t play 50+ Games each. Same with the front 3 we need cover and possibly a creative midfielder.

Agree5 0Disagree

19 Jun 2019 17:23:07
Personally hoping we sign Fernandes. I think he would be a great complement to a great squad. Lallana probably needs to move for game time but I still believe in him when fit. Keita I was expecting a lot of but a year in England not comfortable with the language would be tough for many players. Cost so much go can't just give up on him, and hopefully he will prosper next season. Fekir is a good option in lieu of Fernandes and Ox is always there.

I have heard Liverpool are interested in Pedro Rebocho from Guningamp.

From what I can see online, he’s a Portuguese left back, could be good cover for Robbo and probably wouldn’t cost the world.

He even got 8 assists last year in the league!

Anyway, I’m not ITK or anything just what I was told by a chap at work.

19 Jun 2019 10:54:15
Sounds plausible at least.
Can't decide whether it's claptrap or hogwash from the Echo who say Junior Firpo or Philipp Max are tipped as possible left-back options for Liverpool. Well, they're left-backs but that's where the relevance ends. Both would want to be first choice and we've got that covered already. Just stop printing this crap.

He'd cost more than VVD and he also plays on the left side of the defence which is where VVD plays. We also have Gomez who impressed immensely alongside VVD before injury, so I'd rather just stick with what we have, maybe move Lovren on for a homegrown option or an experienced player willing to rotate and push Gomez to keep improving.

However, when taking into account he had one year on his contract with Chelsea, being one of the best in Europe in his position and Madrid reportedly paid £80 mil for him I would have thought Chelsea could have got double that figure if there was two or more years left on his contract.

Hi guys I'm well informed from an excellent source who I have no reason to doubt about two transfers to be completed within the next week or two maximum. Both are Southampton players!

The first is Alex McCarthy with a 7.5 million fee wanted.

Both could be excellent home grown snips.

Ed025, come on now these little partnerships exist all over, not just between Liverpool and Southampton. I mean don't Everton have a history of pillaging Man Utd of its players?

18 Jun 2019 11:44:39
Not exactly top class player purchases are they? City are signing Rodri from Atletico and Cancelo from Juventus, how can Jurgen compete with that, if McCarthy and Targett are our only two signings for this season, expect the gap between Liverpool an City to widen significantly, no offense to both those players but they're mid-table signings.

Agree3 12Disagree

{Ed001's Note - Robertson has done ok on bridging the gap and he was not even mid-table when he joined.}

18 Jun 2019 12:21:04
I agree lerchy, that they sound like good deals. Homegrown too.

They may seem underwhelming to some but so did Andy Robertson and Aoc. If klopp and the team have identified them as good targets then i trust in them completely.

Eds, could some deal with Danny Ings be involved?

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - the Ings deal is done.}

18 Jun 2019 12:52:52
Thanks for the rumour lerchy.

At the price of 15mill for both decent backups to have. Yeah Targett is a weird one but young enough to make a go of it if he can improve under the set up at lfc.

Maybe a couple of signings like that keeps funds free for a attacking mid or help for the front three usually a position that’s more costly.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 Jun 2019 13:01:49
Exactly Robbie mate, targetts first team chances have been limited due to the excellent bertrand. If Klopp thinks it’s a good signing I’m with him, with the transfer fee it’s a low risk gamble plus it adds to the home grown quota.

18 Jun 2019 13:20:46
Re-bolsters the HG quotient, seems a reasonable amount of money for a couple of decent backups.

18 Jun 2019 13:32:35
ed001 what's your thoughts on Targett, from the games I see him play last season I don't see the point as I would much rather Milner cover there or even give Adam Lewis a shot as he never looked any thing like good enough for are first team.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I don't want to waste Milner on covering left-back except in desperation. And I am not convinced by Lewis at all. Targett's issue is injuries, he was way ahead of Shaw in youth teams until injury ruled him out as he was set to make his debut. He still struggles to stay fit, that is why I would not be so keen on him.}

18 Jun 2019 15:07:38
A good homegrown option as backup imo, who won't cost much or expect to start games, yet has the potential to become very good. If our medical team can get Sturridge fit they can get anyone fit!

Lewis is going to go out on loan, he's got a lot to prove so a season in the lower leagues should show whether he's got enough potential for the top or not.

Have the Eds any tid-bits on clubs interested in loaning Liverpool players? The limit has been reduced, right? How many allowed now?
Thanks Eds!

{Ed002's Note - It depends where they are loaned to. I have answered this before.}

Just an observation about Southampton and Liverpool 'pinching' their best players; I recall reading this a couple of years back. Draw a 50 mile radius from Southampton and you get a lot of sea to the south but you capture 4 million people. Do the same in Liverpool and you capture 8 million people. The academies that Southampton compete with include Bournemouth and Portsmouth and at a real stretch Reading and Brighton. Liverpool compete with Everton, Tranmere, all Greater Manchester clubs, Preston, Blackpool, Crewe, Stoke, etc, etc. This is picking kids for academies not scouting, but I think it is a fair point to make about competition for local talent.

{Ed002's Note - You mean like Lovren, van Dijk and mane?}

18 Jun 2019 11:53:36
Come on Ed025. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do anything to you if you don't allow it to happen, in the first place. So Southampton are willing sellers because they allow it to happen. And I think they have been very handsomely compensated with the fee for VVD, to balance out any other previous misgivings. It's the business. We do to Southampton what Barcelona did to us. 😉.

Agree0 1Disagree

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right ArAy and i feel for their supporters who pay good money and see their team decimated every season mate..

18 Jun 2019 17:51:46
I will agree with Targett at this moment ed025, but I feel if Liverpool had not secured Mane and VVD, another top 6 club would have definitely signed them and Southampton would still have been in the same state.

In that case, it would have not only been damaging for Saints but also for us mate.

Agree0 1Disagree

{Ed025's Note - im sure if everton had signed them 2 then i would certainly not be complaining MH, it must be terribly hard to stomach for the saints fans though mate..

18 Jun 2019 18:35:49
ed025 is it not like Barcelona signing player of us.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed025's Note - in a way it is grino, but if they took 3/4 of your side then you would really have a case mate..

18 Jun 2019 19:04:25
I feel for the saints fans, every window must be sickening. But they really need to look at who's running their club and not ours. Football is all about what players you have and who you can buy to strengthen the team, and what youth players you can bring through to save and make money. They can always say no, but when a players heads turned, it's very hard as we have experienced before and will again no doubt. But if saints have a player we want, we should make a fair offer and respect their reply.

Agree1 2Disagree

{Ed002's Note - You don't want to worry too much about them. Liverpool massively over paid for van Dijk in cash they didn't have and had to borrow. And it was yet another attempt of the Liverpool directors trailing a trail of slime to beg them not to make a complaint about the tapping up. And they have had to do that over another player since.}

18 Jun 2019 19:15:54
Absolute bull Ed 2. Your smear campaign isn’t working.

Agree2 5Disagree

{Ed002's Note - What smear campaign - what isn't true there? Every word is true as it always is. Klopp is a cheat - there is no disputing that. Liverpool paid for van Dijk after he had been on strike for 6 moths - a bottom of the pile human being. Liverpool paid £15M pounds more plus enormous agent fees than the club was asking from the non cheating clubs. Liverpool paid in cash with money they borrowed as they did not have it. Moron.}

18 Jun 2019 20:07:27
Ed001 only just catching up with things on here mate. Do you no if any interest from us in Targett then?

Agree0 1Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry.}

19 Jun 2019 01:01:19
I live in Southampton, and yes their fans are pretty fed up of us poaching their players.
We're not too popular a club down this way.

Ed002, FSG stumped up the cash for VVD, am I correct in saying that.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - They borrowed the money.}

19 Jun 2019 07:03:42
Ed25. Just saying, but Klopp only signed 2 Soton players. Just saying. 😅.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed025's Note - your right robbo its not really a klopp issue, its a liverpool one, the saints are struggling to stay afloat as are a lot of teams and the big boys take advantage of that....when i was at school (many many years ago) it was called bullying now its called business..

19 Jun 2019 07:03:15
I don't get it why borrowing money is a problem, this is how business works antway, of course they will do it. And it paid out, as Van Dijk is a Ballon d'or contender and we won the CL, so good loan right there.

19 Jun 2019 11:27:04
Klopp does what a lot of managers and players do, tap up their fellow countrymen while away, Madrid and Barcelona are the worse by a mile, if Saints didn't want the money they could say no and so could the player, like it or not Liverpool is a massive step up and any player with ambition would choose the move.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jun 2019 20:10:00
The way I see it, whether it's Liverpool or not, these players would have probably moved elsewhere cos I don't think we were the only interested club at the time. I don't get the "bullying" thing. To blame their struggles to stay afloat in the league on Liverpool is a little misplaced for me. But, what do I know?

Any truth to the rumours we are negotiating with Barcelona for dembele eds?

It's likely he'll leave Barcelona this summer with coutinho but some journalists are reporting we have been in touch with barca.

Believable0 10Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any negotiations.}

17 Jun 2019 20:40:41
3! Dembele questions in the space of two hours - all answered with the most minimal of fuss.
Just another thank you for all the you do and are (Ed) dies!

If the stories about his off field behaviour are true- and let's face it, we don't know for sure do we- but if they are, then the club will be aware, and they will surely steer clear of his lad at £90m, however gifted he is.

Agree2 0Disagree

18 Jun 2019 08:23:06
I hope not, Barcelona are like any club and made a desperate signing to appease fans that Neymar had gone, the lads not all that at all, hope we don't touch him.

18 Jun 2019 11:01:12
Hi Eds,

You say there has been no negotiations but is it a player we have an interest in?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any discussions with Barcelona and again he would be a Salah replacement- or is he a Dembele replacement - who replaced Pepe who replaced Salah.

18 Jun 2019 12:29:34
Lol ed02. But again he plays on the opposite side to salah, same with sane. Dembele was looked at last year i remember, or there was a lot of talk. Macca predicted we'd sign him.

I think to call the lad "not all that" is way way off the mark. He's a fine footballer and i think he'd be brilliant in the premier league. A club like liverpool and a boss like klopp is just what the lad needs. Too young to write him off. Some are debating whether wilson should get a shot and the two lads are pretty close in age. Only one has played for dortmund and Barcelona the other has played for derby.

If we can sign him we should. I would see him more of a Danny Sturridge replacement than a Salah one. DS came to us as a forward/ winger who scored goals.

Agree0 2Disagree

{Ed001's Note - the lad is an idiot of Neymar proportions though. Steer clear please.}
