Just rewatched the Brighton match and I’ve got to say how impressed I was with Fabinho. I wasnt expecting him to play so well out of position but he didn’t look out of place at all, I know it was only Brighton and I don’t want to get carried away but it’s good to know that if we have an injury crisis at CB or RB, Fabinho has the versatility to cover and really do a job for us!

P. S. Ed025, Fabinho changed your opinion of him yet? 😉.

Congratulations to Fabino the opposition might not have been the greatest but this guy confirmed how good a baller he is. He looked totally at home as a CB.

Knew we'd win, well done Liverpool. Bring on Crystal Palace at Anfield!

Very pleased with win. Still believe we are being too casual and not enough urgency but it's all about the three points and back to winning ways and a couple of home games to come.

My beer will taste all the better tonight now!

I don't think it's about being casual. We've lost 2 games in the past couple of weeks. The players had to manage the pressure and I think they did that well by playing calm and getting the 3 points needed.

Totally agree 1jj great to get back to winning ways but like you I think we are way too slow with our build up play which allows teams to get back into formation and extremely hard to break down we are to tentative in midfield always taking the easy side or backwards pass we just need someone to be positive for once and drive forward to link up with the front 3 but id take 1 nil wins all day every day big up to the defence solid as a rock as per usual. Massive win keeps things ticking over nicely, beer will taste extra nice tonight.

Good result at a tough place to go. Fabinho put in a solid display and was poitionally excellent in my opinion.

Bias aside:

Thought that was a clear penalty that Salah won there. Reading BBC sport and a lot of "dive" comments, as well as if that was Kane it would be a dive. Is it rose tinted glasses?

He had his leg taken away clear pen!

Brighton, even at home where they have a good record, tend to sit back so I'd go for our 'home' attacking formation of 4-2-3-1 and start Shaq and really take the game to them. This also keeps them away from our new CB Fab as much as possible (Murray can be a handful) .

What do Ed's and Reds think?

Brighton look like the new stoke, sitting soo deep.
Could be a 0-0, barely creating any chances.

I'm surprised no one has posted comments on the Man City game.

I know it was Burton, and before that Rotherham, but you could see plenty of first teamers on the pitch, and the confidence of putting in 16 goals in 2 games is immense.

2 things I take from this.

1) our squad still has a way to go to be on par with theirs. Our first team is more than a match, but although we have a number of bodies, the next tier down does not work for our style of play. Whether it's promoting youth or bringing in better, more suited, backups, we need to improve over the next couple of years to build a proper dynasty.

2) obviously I don't know the state of our first teamers (other than the injured ones of course) so I don't know if they are just exhausted, but I think Klopp took a gamble too far with resting so many of them.

Ultimately, getting better backups will more likely happen if we are champions - Jesus is happy (I guess) with getting 25-30 starts as he is playing for a team of winners. We need that too and hopefully this is (finally) our year!

I have no fear over Klopp going if we don't win this year, none whatsoever. But we need to win something and soon. I love the FA Cup, one of my earliest Liverpool memories is watching the 86 double winning final. Disrespect is too strong a word, but I'm not delighted that we have gone out so soon with such a relatively makeshift team. The CB injuries are not Klopps fault of course, but resting all of the front 3 was a big gamble; especially when we do not yet have backup players who can play in the same style.

I hope we put in a good performance against Brighton and win at a canter. Confidence is a strange thing, and we need to get it back quickly and go on another winning run to sow this competition up.

Agree with all of that, Zeddicus.
