Ed's

Apologies in advance (if needed) but can you clarify the situation with the coaches/assistant manager.
When Pascoe and Marsh did not have there contracts renewed, in other words sacked, it was generally conceived that this was the work of FSG. and there was some sympathy for Rodgers. Fast forward to O'Driscoll joining the club it appears to be Rodgers choice. Therefore bearing in mind that 12 months ago he said that we would not have finished runners up without the work of Pascoe & Marsh
and no statement from the club are we ever likely know what FSG Plans are Or is there more to come out yet.

Thanks

yozzer58

{Ed001's Note - FSG are unlikely ever to be open, so we will never know.}

1.) 07 Jul 2015 08:17:59
From what i was told, FSG basically said that Pascoe and Marsh were not part of their plans and that BR could either accept it and stay or he could leave. As to how much say Rogers had in the replacements, i have no idea.

Question for the Edd's not LFC related but regarding the web sites for the other team's.

I often go on other teams sites to see what there fans are saying about there team and I was on Man CIty's site and I was shocked to see the poor response/questions.

Now I am not looking for you to say Lfc fans generate more questions etc etc because we have are our share of fans who reckon the club should buy every Tom dick or Harry. And it's not about being the top club in this case

But can you give us a guide to who are the teams that generate say the most questions (intelligent one's) / who appear to be the most realistic that type of thing.

yozzer58

{Ed001's Note - this is the busiest site, but I am not sure any of the sites can be considered realistic or that generates intelligent questions!}

1.) 03 Mar 2015 23:22:23
I love the Talkconspiracy site. I have to stop checking it daily as it doesn't get as much traffic as I would like. Some good videos and information is shared there. A lot of intelligent questions too!

And yes I know it's not a football site but it's all tied in.

The wrestling site is great though a lot less traffic

Let's get everything straight so that we can all move on
In each of the three seasons Brendan Rogers has been in charge The first half has been with the exception of one or two matches poor starts.
In the second of each season we have played some brilliant football but this deludes owners and certain fans that next season will be the year.
But there are fans out there that know that whilst it is a roller coaster ride, in the end certain decisions still need to improved upon.
For example Rodgers should not have not opened his mouth to the press about sterling (This being one example).
Also the ed's are NOt stating that BR should be sacked because they believe he has got some good qualities, it is that he should be more open minded and realise that in the modern world of football one man is no longer enough.
Everyone knows that mourinho is always on the TVs or in the press this is because he has the setup correct behind the scenes
Ok I will except that he likes the adulation as well.
But honestly hand on heart who can stand up now and say that we will have a better first half of season next season than the last three.

yozzer58

1.) Agree. how many times does this have to happen before someone makes a change?! Personally I believe that the only reason we are not challenging this season or at least have top 4 secured is BR. I really like the guy as a coach and I wish he could be our coach for many years, but its obvious he can't do it on his own

2.) 15 Feb 2015 16:45:05
We were so poor in the first half of the 2013/2014 season that we were top of the league on Christmas Day

{Ed001's Note - performances were not good early on in the season though. Similar to Man Utd this season, playing poorly but picking up results.}

3.) Why do people insist on saying we had a poor start to last season?

We had lost only three games by Christmas including a tough one at the emirates.

In this time we also thrashed Norwich 5-1, West Ham 4-1, Fulham 4-0, and completely rolled over spurs away, admittedly these weren't all top sides but its still hardly the behavior of a team you would say is playing poorly and scraping results.

4.) 15 Feb 2015 18:04:37
I remember us being poor against Southampton and Hull but plenty of goals and not many conceded . Lots of 1-0s too which i'd take any day

5.) 15 Feb 2015 19:10:39
BR is guilty of so many things. One being constant bashing of Mario every time he opens his mouth.

6.) I really can't get my head around it when people say we were poor or played poorly first half of last season. We played some of the best football that we've played in the last 15 years

{Ed001's Note - but we didn't in the first half, that was the second half when we were brilliant. The first half was very mixed.}

7.) Nobody plays amazing every game of the season winning and packing bad for certain parts of the season is a good thing

8.) Agree with the OP. We cannot wait for BR to always sleepwalk though the first half of every season. dithering and wasing our time as a club by being stubborn and playing that dreadful tiki taka system that gets us nowhere every time we employ it. We will NEVER win the PL (which the owners crave to get their ROI) nor the CL. That is a fact. BR needs to focus on coaching (he is damn good at it) and cut out the other useless BE and blunders as well as get help w/ transfers (DOF) and fix the defence (defensive coach or whatever). If he can do that s well as use our academy, I will gladly plead w/ the owners to keep him because he has proven that he can get the best out of players under him. Afterall, he built the Suarez that was the best srtiker in the PL and one of the most feared in the world for two yrs, made Studge the beast he is today and gave Couts and Raheem the careers they have now.

9.) How can you finish level on goal difference with the Champions and have a bad first half of the season?

Impossible.

The best indicator of whether Brendan Rodgers is doing a good job is not this website(sorry Eds) but the travelling away support.
That's a fact.
And to a man they all back our manager.
Honestly, everyone is entitled to their opinion but I'll keep repeating it.
If we are stupid enough to sack this manager then we will be making a massive mistake.

Lets look at his record for every game he has been manager for LFC: 157 games: 86 WINS 33 DRAWS 38 LOSSES.
Scored 302 goals Conceded 180 goals.
That is a win ratio of 54.49%.
Yes let's sack that manager and get a better one!!!!
So we win over half the time we play with this manager in charge.
When you see how young he is as well you can only think this ratio is going to go up and not down if he learns as he goes along.
Alex Ferguson finished his career at United with a 58% win ratio.
He was nowhere near that level in his first 3 seasons as manager yet Brendan Rodgers is.
But yes let's sack him.

{Ed001's Note - how are the away support the best indicator? Ridiculous thing to say, they were still behind Dalglish too, but he was not doing a good job the second time round (much as I hate to say that!).}

10.) We will have to disagree again Ed001.
I have worked out your identity now.
Are you my wife??
We never agree.

{Ed001's Note - we will have to as the fans are the last people to adjudicate on this matter. Especially the away fans, who are very unlikely to turn, they supported Ged right until the end, as that is what they do. It just shows how entirely and utterly useless Hodgson was in the role that he managed to turn against him the staunchest fans.

As for your wife, no, she just wishes she was as young and beautiful as me ;o)..... wait she doesn't read this site does she? In which case I meant I just wish I was as young and beautiful as her!}

11.) Ha ha ha ed001. Brilliant.
I think they are a good barometer Ed for the very reason you mentioned.
Loyalty.
They are not fly by night fans. they pay their hard earned wages to travel all over supporting the team.
They do not put up with dross for too long either.
I do agree that they are more loyal than most and that's what I mean by using them as an indicator of whether or not Rodgers has their backing. They are not fickle like me. ( I wanted him gone earlier in the year)
The way they constantly sang the managers name at the weekend says everything for me.
They were singing it when we were behind as well because they knew like I knew that we were going to score eventually.
I've not met one yet who wants the manager out.
I was not dissing this website by the way. This website is my mistress!!
And the cougar website above!!
Just to add. She is 39 yrs young and very beautiful (just in case she does read the site)!!!

{Ed001's Note - they sing Dalglish's name regularly too, I don't see that as an indicator at all. They never wanted him out. It is not a good barometer at all, they are blind loyalty, great in that respect, but not in terms of judging most fans, nor a good way of telling whether a manager should stay or go.}

12.) 16 Feb 2015 15:50:05
Actually we were doing well at the beginning of last season, was the awful scheduling of the City anf Chelsea games and some pretty shocking refereeing in those games that slightly threw us. Then we went on that run.

13.) Come on Ed they sing Daglish's name for obvious reasons. .
Fact is if they did not support the manager then they would not be singing his name constantly during a match would they?

My views on the Chelsea game is

One of the best performances this season but better than last season, no chance

To many negative back pass's

No strikers (Sterling is not a top striker) but could achieve being a world class player

Some people did not notice when we equalised Chelsea stepped up a gear and looked like they could do real damage be honest could we have stepped up another gear?

At the end of the day I am saying that to be a successful team, supporters are looking for their team to improve each season and we have clearly have not

yozzer58

1.) That 10 minute spell after we scored when Chelsea stepped up a gear.
I also think we lost the plot a bit.
We forgot how we equalized in the first place.
I admit that was worrying, just a bit of game management needed.

2.) There were also several occasions in the first half when our defence was quite thin and they attacked 2 against 2 or 3 against 3. We were lucky not to concede in these situations because costa or hazard alone against Skertl whith no backup, eventually they will make something from these. In contrast when we attacked their defence always seemed to be there in bigger numbers than us. IMO the only solution to this - strange as it may sound - is to improve our finish. The type of football we play mean that sometimes we are a bit exposed in the back and we have to accept it, but with the amount of chances we create, we should be able to take the risk. At the moment we are still very wasteful in the last third. And I say all this without taking away anything from a great performance yesterday.

3.) Fanobip. . The break from the corner was bizzarre.
I was waiting for the offside flag to go up and then I realised that Moreno was playing everyone onside and that he was the only player in our half (from a corner)!
Kevin Keegan and Ozzie Ardilles sprang to mind.

4.) You gus are asking way too much of the players. With the adrenaline flowing, it is normal to have a oment of mental let down that could have been taken advantage of. I don`t know if you`ve noticed but the Chavs are very good and are very capable of playing better BUT chose not to even come out of their own haf because Mou likes it that way (even tho that tactic has cost him a few times this and last year vs, Spurs, Utd, City, and Athleti). Hence, they are capable of stepping it up a gear which they did in that 10 mins span where we were a bit vulnerable after the goal (it happens a lot in footie) and they spiked up their level of urgency which in the end did not last long as they shuffled back to the three tier bus aon the edge of their box to keep warm. We

BR Stating that we are regaining our identity. Who lost it in the first place

yozzer58

1.) 18 Jan 2015 09:55:00
I'd say it was some of the"fans" who lost our identity by turning on the manager so soon.

2.) Since when?

'89?

'2005?

Finishing second last season?

Finishing second under Rafa?

The resignation of Shanks?

The resignation of the King?

The Moores family selling?

You see, that answer means nothing, does it? If it does, then please elaborate because your chatting it.

3.) Keep it coming Simsimo.

Nice.

4.) Davey, I don't understand your point/s.

I have to agree with Simsimo, very sad that so many fans have turned on the manager after seeing the football he had the team playing last season.

There is a limit to how much time that buys him given earlier results, team selections, use of the youth players and so on but I for nothing else other than the dozens of games I enjoyed last year, am willing to give BR time to get that back.

5.) "We lost our identity". And who`s fault is that? Don`t be fooled by his political, fault-avoiding spin. We did not lose our identity. BR took it away from us by employing a boring possession system which yielded nothing in his first 6 months when he arrived INSTEAD of just sticking to the high-press system that almost won us the league last year. If it ain`t broke, don`t fix it. I know we did not have SAS this year BUT we don`t have them now either YET we`re doing better now. What does that tell you? It shows that BR spent half a season screwing the team up by playing players out of position and against their nature and alienating the very same players (Sakho, Lucas, Can, Borini) who are in top form in favor of his faves (GJ, Allen and to some extent, SG) who were aweful yet played every game. I wanted Rafa gone whether he won games or not in his final season so even if we get Top 4 and /or win a trophy, I still want him sacked because his mismanagement and cockups have gone on long enuff.
