Hey team.

Not bitter about the result. I'm in the fine margins camp and on that display in singularity, city deserved the points.

I've a question which is a genuine rule question and before ed 2 blasts me, it's not a we were robbed question.

When mane hit the post, he was clattered by the keeper. Had the ball gone out of play I wouldn't of thought any thing of it, however, the ball stayed in play and the keepers physical contact with mane prevented him following up.

Completely objective and non whining,
Why was it not a penalty?
Why is no one talking about it?
From a rules perspective where does it stand?

Cheers in advance. Genuine rule / media coverage question.

Good question honestly. I don’t think it was ever a penalty but I’m curious about the rule of law.

2.) 05 Jan 2019 18:30:00
Benny!? My best guess if the advantage played was the shot on goal. Have wondered that in the past tho.

Also I think it's sad that some posters feel they need to preface their comments so as not to raise the ire of ed2.!

3.) 05 Jan 2019 18:54:06
I agree Faithworks, for me this site wouldn’t be the same without Ed002’s Exocet replies. I’ve been shot down but it’s all part of the banter and what we love about the site.

I’m more worried about 25, I’m sure he’s a secret Kopite!

{Ed025's Note - not on your nellie drogie, in fact i take that as an insult mate.. :)

4.) 05 Jan 2019 18:59:55
ED25 is from Wrexham.

{Ed025's Note - nah mate...true scouser born in wavertree, which is why i support "the peoples cub"..

5.) 05 Jan 2019 19:18:01
Haha, I wouldn’t do that to you mate 😉.

{Ed025's Note - cheers drogie mate..

6.) 05 Jan 2019 19:26:38
Tbh I haven't looked back at it. From my memory mane was on his feet trying to reach the rebound. I was (like dejan lovren) watching the ball though, so I can't say. Good point although I don't remember any body calling for a penalty.

7.) 05 Jan 2019 20:24:25
I don't think it should have been a penalty cos to me, Mane's collision with Ederson was incidental contact as neither player could have stopped their momentum and prevented the collision esp. since Mane clearly tried to score.

Now, had Mane touched it past Ederson and the collision happened then penalty all day. The fact that no one called for it tells you all you need to know. Just my opinion.

8.) 05 Jan 2019 20:44:28
Great question and I’ve just watched it back and it’s definitely a foul by Ederson. i just don’t know the rules regarding the fact he got his shot off. the thing is If mane had managed to evade Ederson he would of had a great chance of being first to the rebound.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe Ederson tripped in the long grass?}

9.) 05 Jan 2019 20:59:50
Ed002 did you see that? surely that’s someone on the wind up? it was bad enough listening to the bloke saying klopp out he’s brought us as far as he can😂😂😂.

10.) 05 Jan 2019 21:18:24
The people’s club? You stated supporting them in 2002?

And if, you know, your history.

{Ed025's Note - i have supported them since 1958 KR, i think you may have been just a twinkle in your arl mans eye when i was standing on the street end mate..

11.) 05 Jan 2019 21:34:12
Did you choose or were you chosen?

{Ed025's Note - chosen mate, the greatest honour on earth though at times it can seem like a curse.. :)

12.) 05 Jan 2019 21:50:08
Fair enough lad, you can take a bit a banter.

{Ed025's Note - take it?...i invented it mate.. :)

Hi Buddy from the referee perspective these are often fouls and very rarely given. I gave one in exactly the same circumstances about 12 years ago however the thing that sold it for me was that the ball hit the near post and bounced almost directly back to where the striker lay poleaxed. The keeper turned away sheepish and didn’t say a word but the defenders and management team went mad.

The striker needed lengthy treatment so whilst the defenders with me I simply explained what happened and pointed at the injured player. The defenders then tried to argue that because the striker got his shot away it shouldn’t be a foul, trying to suggested he effectively had “advantage”. I shot that down by stating it’s a clear foul for a late challenge anywhere else on the pitch so in the box it’s a pen.
Long winded answer buddy but technically “ yes “ it’s a pen, will many referees give them, no, only if the striker is cleaned out and really injured with the ball still in the vicinity.

It’s a good one to ask BB if he has ever given a pen for it, he’s level 4 so is currently active whereas I’m an old git who rarely referees nowadays. Hope that gives some insight that your instinct is correct, most people follow the ball and will have missed it completely, I only got onto it after the replay tbh. Cheers.

Any one else delighted that our clubs name is not get touted in every other paper paragraph like it is most deadline days?

Happy with window full stop.

Also I think the eds lobbied to get the window shut early to get a break from the crazies.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 09:04:37
So apparently all we need to do to convince the media we won't buy random players for 100m a pop is to spend 175m every window. Good to know.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 10:34:43
Haha no chance mate. If every tabloid suddenly linked us with Pulsic right now lad, you'd be on this Banter Page with a semi on waiting for the eds to confirm it like the rest of us hahaha.

Would love to mirror all the positive posts, and most important the safe passage of our travelling fans.

I have many different Liverpool tops, new and old.
Generally, when I wear them for a game it doesn't seem to go too well.
I stopped wearing colours for games about the time we started blowing teams out of the park.
So if I wear colours and we lose, I will feel responsible.
If we win and I am not in colours I will feel like a plastic fan.

So I'm putting it out to the masses.
I guess thumbs up for not wearing colours and comment why I should?

Win or lose, this is the most prestigious event in the football calendar. We are a part of it. On paper we are underdogs, pundits in UK have us as favourites.

As long as we turn up, I won't mind. Got a feeling the referee will have a part to play. Good or bad.

Alez alez alez.

1.) 26 May 2018 18:04:45
don't do ANYTHING different today.

2.) 26 May 2018 18:10:07
Dont wear the top! We need all the luck we can.
I made myself a deal that I would buy a genuine top when Liverpool wins the league. Im still waiting to buy it.

As per my previous post.

Whatever happens, the lads have done us fans so proud. They will be traumatised not winning the league on the points tally already totalled.
Let's just get behind them, thank them for all the effort. If there is a cup at the end of it then great. If not, they could not have done more.

He's literally said out loud, and I can see it during every game.
We're picking our moments, and our opponents to do what we know we can.
Could we have gone balls out against United and won 5 -0 yes.
Could we have lost 3 - 2 doing the same. Yes.
Tactical switching up, picking our battles and our moments. Getting respite during games. Preventing injury and burn out.

Love watching the high press heavy metal. But can't be done all the time because teams set up to counter and gets us unstuck.

Now they don't know what their getting.

I was a young Welsh lad in the 80s so rush and in fact Saunders were big favourites of mine. Though I can't remember much.
I do remember a quiz once, some one please correct me, but at the time of quiz, Ian rush had zero bookings in his career. Absolute goal machine.
Seems like a gent too.
