Hi Ed002 what's the plan for Andre Wisdom next season? Is anyone showing and interest or are Salzburg keen to keep him? Assuming he has no future at Liverpool. Read a report Liverpool are looking to get up to £6 million for him which is putting Salzburg off.
Also, Salzburg and Leipzig are both owned by Red Bull with Leipzig basically using Sazburg as a feeder club so could wisdom be involved in a deal for Naby Keita do you reckon?
Thanks for your time, have a good week.

{Ed002's Note - RBS has not shown any interest in a permanent deal. Derby and Nottingham Forest may provide options.}

1.) 02 May 2017 19:54:16
Ok thanks. Derby makes sense I suppose. Had a good season there with Steve Mcclaren a few years back.

2.) 03 May 2017 00:13:26
Youre assuming Steve McClaren will still be there by the time the transfer window is open😏.

3.) 03 May 2017 16:40:34
Big drop from international age group captain to hoping for an average Championship side to be interested, for me he's one who should have developed further.

25 Apr 2017 12:20:15
Been told that Liverpool will be looking at Guerreiro again this summer after missing out on him to Dortmund last summer. Not seen much of him tbh but looking at his stats and he seems to have had a good season, scored a few. A possibility eds? Or just rehashed story from last summer?

{Ed002's Note - He has only been at Dortmund 9 months and they would not be looking to sell. Liverpool has not shown interest.}

Congratulations to Danny Ward. Thoroughly deserved, had a great season. Onwards and upwards.

10 May 2017 10:26:26
Hi Ed001, do you think the lack of experienced winners in the squad is what causes us to seemingly lose focus against the lesser teams? There are very few players in the squad who have actually won anything in their careers and I think that might have a lot to do with the way they fail to take responsibility to change a game or show some drive when things aren't going our way. It would be nice if we could get a couple of experienced heads in this summer imo especially with champions league potentially next season. Or is it simply a case of not having enough vocal leaders on the pitch?

{Ed001's Note - not so much experienced as just winners. It wouldn't matter if they didn't have experience, so long as they were winners. Milner has plenty of experience, but he is not a winner, he is a worker, but not a winner.}

1.) 10 May 2017 12:01:03
Ok see where you're coming from ed. Problem is I guess that all the 'winners' are already at top clubs aren't they. Would be nice if a couple of the lads coming through the academy now had that kind of mentality. Maybe something that Gerrard can help the youngsters in the u18s with, he did say something about it a couple of weeks ago I'm sure that the young lads are too soft etc.

{Ed001's Note - there are winners in the lower leagues as well, not all winners are at top clubs. Some top clubs also have a lack of them, both Manchester sides and Spurs spring to mind.}

2.) 10 May 2017 12:45:33
I think we just miss a leader on the pitch.

3.) 10 May 2017 13:48:30
We used to have so many winners. Gerrard, Kuyt, Carragher and Reina all stand out in my memory. The only winner we've had in the last 2 years now is Henderson. He is the only player I've seen come off the pitch after a defeat and look sincerely gutted.

It is part of the reason why local players are loved so much though. A player playing for the team he supports will become a winner even if he otherwise isn't. For me a winner is a player who plays as though he is a fan of his club. Someone who die for the cause. That is why we came so close in 13/ 14. We had Agger, Flanagan, Gerrard, Henderson and Suarez. They all wanted to win more than they cared about their pay cheque.

4.) 10 May 2017 14:51:17
You don't have to be a winner to be a leader. Look at Tom Brady, for example. He till this day, plays with a hunger and chip on his shoulder cos he was overlooked in high school and University as a perennial back up QB and he has NEVER let that go in spite of all his success. That is fuel for his fire and a main reason why he is still motivated to go out there and compete.

He was not born a winner BUT forged a steely resolve to be successful cos he felt slighted for being overlooked. Playing with a chip on your shoulder and always having something to prove, can make you a leader by example cos others can feed off that. Same for Carra who proved his doubters wrong cos many thought he would not make it at LFC YET he did. Those are what you need.

05 May 2017 10:25:18
Who would you lads say our most improved player this season is then? The eds can feel free to give their opinion too.
It's between Migs and lallana for me. Lallana probably edging it because we have still shipped a lot of goals and he's added goals and assists to his game and as well as being very effective in the middle, whereas we were basically playing with 10 men at times last season when he was out wide.
Credit where it's due though Mignolet hasn't had a clanger in a long while and I don't believe he's at fault for the large number of goals we've conceded. They mainly come from lapses in concentration ahead of him. Although I suppose you could say if he was more vocal organising his defence that wouldn't happen, so that's where he can improve next season for me.

1.) 05 May 2017 11:00:38
I'd go for Lallana, though he is still showing signs of inconsistency. Shout-out for Mignolet, and Hendo has excelled in the deeper role.

2.) 05 May 2017 11:03:15
Emre Can has improved through the season - plays so much better when Hendo is not in the team. Migs has surprised with his recent improved perfromances. got to give him credit, must have been a kick in the balls to be dropped to no.2 at start of season for him then to come in and play with some confidence.

3.) 05 May 2017 11:23:24
Roberto Firmino.

4.) 05 May 2017 12:49:11
TAA and woodburn, with brewster coming in third. For the first team has to be migs.

5.) 05 May 2017 12:51:03
Lallana for me. I wouldn't have been upset if we'd sold him last summer. He was so frustrating, clear ability but always slowing down play and ruining attacks doing numerous cruyff turns. Now since being put in the middle he's become instrumental to our style of play. Running his socks off every game. Using his tricks and ability at the right times to keep possession and also moving the ball on quickly when necessary most of the time. On top of that he has chipped in with some goals. It's great to see him still improving and long may it continue.

6.) 05 May 2017 18:14:16
Lallana? He improved for about 4 months and has now gone 5 months without a goal or assist.

Not for me. For me it is Mignolet. He's gone from being an undeniable liability in every aspect of his game to now making saves he should be making that used to go through his rubber wrists, and also being confident and decisive on crosses and set pieces. Kicking is still wayward and he is far from top class, but last season he was League 1 or League 2 quality, and now he doesn't look out of place in the Prem.

7.) 05 May 2017 19:50:21
Going to be controversial and say Milner, he's been pretty solid at left back, not spectacular, but you said most improved, don't think he had ever had a good or solid game for us until this season. I would still replace him though.
To be honest a lot of players have improved dramatically this season, Lallana stands out, as does coutinho and Can.

8.) 05 May 2017 19:57:55
Roberto Firmino, by a mile compared to last season.

9.) 06 May 2017 06:41:16
Llalana or Firmino - both have stepped it up to be real talismans this season. Firmino I feel still has another step up to go.

{Ed025's Note - i would say another 2 or 3 zimbo..

01 May 2017 21:59:39
Certainly would've taken that result before the game so well done to the lads. Poor game but getting the points on the table is the most important thing at this point. Fair play to Can, he went through a rough patch earlier on in the season but he's came through it and has been important for us in the last few weeks imo. Ed001, do you see a long term future for him at LFC mate? I think he's got potential to be an important player for us. Still only 23.

{Ed001's Note - I have always said he has something about him and that he has the potential to be an excellent player for us.}

1.) 01 May 2017 22:16:13
Future skipper?

2.) 01 May 2017 22:18:21
I agree Ed I've always said he has all the tools and I've tried to defend him this season when at times he's been below par and a target for some.

3.) 01 May 2017 22:21:10
Emre can goal pure porn. Migs superb again commanded his area and brilliant save when he tipped one over the bar when Watford should have got a corner. Great 3 points.

4.) 01 May 2017 23:05:37
Klopp said till recently Cann had being playing while carrying an injury.
He has improver massively of late.

5.) 01 May 2017 23:04:47
While Hendo is at the club he is our captain and even he's fit Can probably drops to the bench. That being said, I do think he could have the qualities to be a good captain, he seems to be quite vocal, I noticed him yelling at Milner for not getting back in to position tonight, we need more players with the balls to do that.

6.) 02 May 2017 01:21:35
I've been as supportive of Emre as most, he has performed to a higher level the past 8 weeks or so, but let's not get carried away, hope I'm wrong but how often have we seen a player up his game when contract renewal time comes around?
Although from reading the eds it would appear the stumbling block over new contract is down to game time rather than financial, if he's still performing like this next season then we'll have a player on our hands, call it as it is, for now he's in good form, that's it really, not like he's Gerrarded us by himself.
Just keen not to go over board, to easy nowadays for players to have a poor game, their crap, great game, world class, perspective needed, for all players.
Some goal that tho! Bravo Emre.

7.) 02 May 2017 08:21:44
I've never given up on Can and never will as he is too talented to be a bad player. Bayern wanted him back bUT chose to come to us instead. Pep must have seen something in him clearly. He is still raw and needs to smoothen out his rough edges BUT Klopp is using him well, playing him in situations where he can use his strengths to perfection and we all know he can score goals. BUT not a goal like that.

24 Apr 2017 16:20:48
Hi eds, any idea what happened to my post on the banter page from this morning? Can't seem to find it. No worries if not.

{Ed001's Note - Find it unbelievable how we've struggled with corners for so many years now. Surely the coaches have picked up on it? How does this happen week in week out, nobody takes charge to hoof it up field everyone just leaves it for someone else to deal with. Lovren has to be replaced imo, he's great sometimes but the other games he is so sloppy and messy, making the most basic of errors to gift chances to the opposition. Injury prone too.
Like ed001 said though, Palace did the same the other week against Chelsea so you have to give them some credit I suppose because it can't be a fluke. Onwards and upwards, hopefully city do us a favour then it'll be back in our hands. And if not Spurs and arsenal could still help us out lol.

That one? If so, not a clue mate, I put it up earlier but don't know about anything after that.}

1.) 24 Apr 2017 17:13:16
Ii any of the EDD'S r around, if we spend millions on another centre - half and a fullback and we continue to have these problems at the back then the finger of suspicion will be pointed at KLOPP, we had the same problems under RODGERS, at the moment KLOPP seems to be getting away with it, looking back at DORTMUND'S team under KLOPP they did concede a lot of goals. just a thought EDD.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp is at fault. He gets away with it because of his clown like personality and the fans are very easily led. We have been around this on many occasions.}

2.) 24 Apr 2017 17:30:11
We've conceded 50 plus goals a season for the last 5 seasons, it's criminal it's still happening but blaming solely klopp is ridiculous, yes he's the manager and responsibility lies with him he's given players he didn't sign a chance to improve and they've let the whole club down, they've proved they can defend well at times but completely switch off at other times, so if millions are needed to sort it out so be it, or we'll be looking at results like yesterday.

3.) 24 Apr 2017 17:39:32
What is the solution Ed's? Do we have or need to get any coaches who have better defensive expertise? I know the goalkeeping coach was mentioned specifically as a weak link? I say w/ o having much knowledge of how coaching units work and whether most coaches I'm the EPL delegate certain aspects like defensive coaching.

{Ed001's Note - it is a learning process. I know Ed002 likes to dig at Klopp, but that is up to him and he doesn't watch the games to know if there is any truth to his opinions. Klopp has initiated training sessions designed to fix weaknesses he has spotted (as has been pointed out regarding Karius being constantly buffeted by the coaches in training to toughen him up), I just don't know how much he can do with the players at his disposal. The mental side of the game is where we struggle and that is the most difficult thing to fix. That is why experience of winning trophies is such an important thing.

Right now we don't have the players to do much more and I know Klopp would love to buy world class centre backs, but we just do not have the money, nor are there any available. The biggest issue is the injuries, all our centre backs suffer too many injuries, and it is making it very difficult for the coaches to work with them as a unit and improve matters. That is down to poor recruitment, as injury histories should be taken into account.}

4.) 24 Apr 2017 18:09:05
Klopp biggest problem is his inflexibility. If he doesn't start finding solutions quickly then unfortunately can see tide turning on him. He had the same problems at bvb against teams who sit back and counter which he massively failed to fix and had to leave after his huge success. What baffles me he hasn't learn anything from it.

5.) 24 Apr 2017 18:00:12
How does he have a clown like attitude. He doesn't come across to me like that. He's a character yes but not a clown.

{Ed002's Note - I didn't mention "attitude". Why don't you read the posts more carefully?}

6.) 24 Apr 2017 18:26:39
Yeah that was the one ed, I'd seen it up earlier and then couldn't find it so thought it must have been taken down.

{Ed002's Note - One advantage for Klopp would be the club have a director of football who knows about football coaching and players and not having one who is a performance guy only.}

7.) 24 Apr 2017 18:39:27
PORT RED, no one is blaming KLOPP solely, asI said we had this problem under RODGERS, but if it doesn't get sorted soon KLOPP will have no one to blame but himself, at the end of the day KLOPP has come with a big reputation and we as fans need to see if he is tactically astute or is he just another busted flush. the clock ticks.

8.) 24 Apr 2017 19:25:30
it can be done with poor players, it's about drills and repetition and having a vaguely intelligent defender to lead the line.
Other teams manage it with worse players.
I think it's a balancing act. If Klopp really wanted to he could just turn us into a boring defensive team like WBA etc. But he wants to keep the positive intent and that's where the balance needs to be found. I think it's a fine adjustment that's needed which is why I'm not on Klopp's case. Well that and the fact that I love (rodeo) clowns 🤡.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is Ron that the defence is Klopps. He ostracized Ward and Sakho and now he is talking up Ward and suggesting he will be moving back as a third choice - and I am far from convinced that will suit Ward. I would bite the bullet and ask the club for a propoer defensive coach to join the coaching team - if there was a proper Director of Football this would have been seen already. I have banged on a bit about Klopp not being willing or able to change, about not having a plan B, about not making good decisions over transfers, about the team running hot and cold continually, but the results and the consistency are simply not there. They are on course for a 3-7 finish and I suspect the will manage to get the results to end up fourth right now - it is not what the owners want, it is not the target, but it buys more time.}

9.) 24 Apr 2017 20:53:29
Sorry Ed. "Clown like personality ".

{Ed002's Note - Better - it is always good when you can find a grown up to read it to you.}

Good review, it's interesting to learn a bit more about the players we don't get to watch so often!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, they do take a while to put together as memories are vague and I have to check up each player in turn before writing it!}

Joe "The Ego" Hart would never come to be anything but first choice. That would be a disaster imo.

I've never seen such mass hysteria like this so early in a summer. It's ridiculous, players will be signed we just need to be patient. See who actually comes through the door before kicking off. At the end of the day it's not too late for Salah and personally I'd rather we spend money on some fullbacks than blow our whole budget on a centre back. It's going to be a very long summer for everyone involved with Liverpool if we start kicking off at the beginning of June.

I would say you're being far too negative.
