Hi Eds,

You've noted that the club are happy to move Sakho on and also that they expect to see their investment returned, are there any clubs in particular which are both actively looking for a new CB and are also happy to spend £15m+? The pound is very weak at the moment so he's probably more attractive to foreign clubs than he would otherwise have been, you mentioned Besiktas but I can't see them having the cash for him?

{Ed002's Note - The situation is as explained.}

So Shanghai SIPG just signed Hulk for £46m.

Do you know if the Chinese have an interest in any of our players?

Would love to see Balotelli go there for a relatively big fee.

Tbh, any fee!

2.) 30 Jun 2016 14:22:37
I am kinda surprised none of the Chinese club have not made an offer for Balotelli yet. High profile player which adds to their brand and a helping hand to get him off our books would be nice.

Makes £34 million for Mane look like the bargain of the century.

4.) 30 Jun 2016 14:44:12
Baloteli won't go to China.

There seems to be a lot of bad sentiment towards the owners of the club and also the key-players we've sold/ are likely to sell.

Personally I've been happy with the owners overall, the club is financially in a much better position now than previously, the stadium is being redeveloped (IMO expanding Anfield was favourable to the Stanley park proposal too), and let’s face it, they have spent A HELL OF A LOT of money on players.

It's important to remember that they are the owners and are not necessarily football experts, Eds correct me if I'm wrong but I see two possibilities as to the way transfer funding would work:
a) The owners just set aside an amount of money for transfer related activity, if additional money is needed then an argument is put forward to justify it.
b) LFC individually put forward an argument as to why Benteke for example is worth £34.88 million, the owners have the final say on the amount they are willing to spend on a particular player at a given time.

Either option a) or b) are exactly the same in that either way the owners have still thrown horrendous amounts of money at the club - they have no real idea how much Benteke, Lallana, Markovic, Firmino etc are worth as such, they trust the judgement of the transfer committee/ manager or whoever else. There have been some signings we have missed out on squabbling over relatively small amounts of money, however the owners need to be confident in the representatives that are scouting out these potential players if they are going to spend obscene amounts. So far, you could hardly blame them if they feel disappointed at the returns on some of their investments - £54million on Benteke and Markovic and from what I gather neither are in the long term plans of the club.

I think people should give the owners a break and focus on supporting Klopp completely – he is a very good manager and is one of the few managers who has impressed me for a long time. I don’t want our club to turn into a Man City or a Chelsea, soulless and bankrolled by oil money. I want Klopp to repeat Dortmund and I don’t think he needs vast amounts of money to do that - he just needs complete backing. If he is given time and support I genuinely believe he will build Dortmund v2.0. We need a top 4 finish, to keep all the players that took us to the top 4 and THEN we can start adding the glamorous world class players to the squad, the ones that will keep us in the top 4 consistently and hopefully challenge for the League/ CL. Right now, like it or not, the club isn’t that desirable for a world class player. If we can get a top 4 finish, hold on to Klopp as manager, keep up the incredible support and match day atmosphere then we will become very attractive again very quickly.

On the Coutinho situation, he’s a very good player and at only 23 could become something very special, he also seems like a pretty humble guy, but EVERY PLAYER HAS A PRICE – think about the value of Coutinho in two parts: What the market says he’s worth + the premium a potential buyer needs to pay given his key standing in our squad. If an offer comes in that satisfies both of those criteria then there is no real issue with Coutinho leaving. He’s a very good player and has probably been my favourite over the last couple of years so I for one will be sad if he leaves, but Klopp WILL replace him adequately and the owners WILL give him the funds he needs to do so – it could potentially be Gotze as the replacement (Very good player under Klopp), maybe Coric (I would trust Klopp to develop a very good player) .

The only regret with Coutinho would be PSG themselves as a club – yeah they’ve got wages and a guaranteed CL spot, but the competitiveness of the league is close to zero. Let’s hope he gives us one more year to get top 4.

In terms of actual rumours all I’ve got is this: I know the son of a football agent and 4/ 5 months ago he told me Kolo Toure was as good as a done deal to move to the middle east, think it was Qatar he said. Might be completely off and circumstances might have changed since, but I guess we’ll see.

I don't usually post but have been a reader for a few years now, so thanks eds for the hard work.

I don't think you guys have understood what he's suggesting.

What we know: Liverpool and Napoli have submit 'identical' bids, Napoli have had theirs accepted, we have had ours declined.

Zielinksi would prefer to come to Liverpool, however if Napoli were to offer high enough wages (everybody has a price), then it's possible he could change his mind and go to Napoli. This is what i understood Game of Thrones post to be implying - that Napoli have offered him better personal terms and he has accepted.

Seems fairly feasible to be honest.

If you haven't heard of him for 2 years, then i would say that you are the one who lives under a rock - the premier league isn't the only league.

He's been out injured for 1 season, it wasn't necessarily his England u21 performances either, more that he was looking good for Derby.

Who knows how his injury will affect him in the long run, maybe he will become a possibility again next year if he can put a good run of games together.

For some perspective: Wilshere hasn't played half the minutes Hughes has in the last 2 years and he's in the England squad!
