EDS, is there any basis for Southampton reporting us to PL for illegal approach of VVD?

shothorse

{Ed001's Note - yes there is a basis as the club should not have done anything until after speaking to Saints. The only question is whether or not we were led to believe the club knew about us speaking to the player.}

1.) 06 Jun 2017 11:45:51
United fan here in peace.

Just a quick follow up @Ed001

Aren't Liverpool and Klopp already in hot water over a previous illegal approach made for a player? (Can't remember which but do remember Ed002 mentioning something)

This could turn ugly pretty quick for Liverpool if there is any truth in Southampton's claims.

{Ed001's Note - yes though this is very different.}

2.) 06 Jun 2017 11:57:50
I thought with us having a new CEO we wouldn't be seeing stories like this anymore from our club, if true i can't believe we could have been so idiotic to speak with vvd without consent from saints.

3.) 06 Jun 2017 12:05:10
Ed I can't beleive we might have been this stupid. Surely we have not? Could this scupper the deal?

{Ed001's Note - it could yes.}

4.) 06 Jun 2017 12:13:14
If this turns out to be true then we will deserve everything we get. Absolutely shocking (if true) that we are still carrying on this way, we should damn well know better.

5.) 06 Jun 2017 12:40:58
ED1 - thanks for the reply, I guess the follow on question would be, is there any evidence?

It seems somewhat churlish, especially with the amount of money we've "invested" after buying half of their team in the past! It's seems apparent that VVD wants to go elsewhere (us, City or Chelsea all expresing interesting) and I find it hard to believe that we'd be stupid enough not to follow the proper process.

If no evidence can be found and Soton still decide not to do a deal with us, would it go to a tribunal to resolve, or is VVD foced into a dilema of continuing to play for Saints or having to chose another club?

{Ed001's Note - he wants to go regardless. They could end up in a Fonte situation.}

6.) 06 Jun 2017 13:44:50
Ed1, oils you remind me which deal previously Klopp had gotten into trouble for tapping up with. I remember that Gerrard approached Kroos obviously the Dempsey fiasco had us in trouble but what has Klopp done wrongly?

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember mate, Ed002 would be the one to ask.}

7.) 06 Jun 2017 14:55:29
i believe the player was Zielinski last summer.

8.) 06 Jun 2017 15:02:08
If I am not mistaken, it is Zielinski who ended up at Napoli.

9.) 06 Jun 2017 15:06:46
I know of the deal regarding Zeilinski last summer who Klopp tapped up and Udinese refused to sell to us and sold him against his wish, to Napoli even tho we offered more money in fees.

Anyone else wishing we had the power of foresight and were able to see how well Péter Gulácsi has progressed since leaving us?

Is is now an upgrade to Migs or Karius?

I'd be interested to know the thoughts of any of the EDS, who may be ITK as to why he was given away to Salzburg (for free) and wasn't considered a viable No.1 for us?

shothorse

{Ed001's Note - because he wasn't at the time willing to wait for a chance and he was not good enough to take the spot.}

1.) 09 Jan 2018 13:45:47
The real question isn't 'why wasnt he considered a viable No.1 for us? '. It's 'why was the person who was chosen considered viable'.

2.) 09 Jan 2018 14:02:19
Thanks for the reply. I thought you would probably have the answer ED01.

Your opinion on his suitability for No.1 spot now?

Personally, only having seen highlights of the Bundesliga matches he’s played in, I think he’s a step up from both Karius and Migs. but no point in crying over spilt milk, or giving away goalkeepers eh!

{Ed001's Note - I like him, but he talks too much to the media for my liking. I prefer players to do their talking on the pitch rather than tell all and sundry every little thing they are doing or about to do etc. He has seen a few moves fall through because he openly discussed them in the media.}

3.) 09 Jan 2018 14:42:51
Gulasci was deemed not good enough to be here well over 5 years ago BUT now, he is a viable option to be our no. 1? Really? I feel it disingenuous and unfair to now hail him as a viable replacement for Karius. In fact, I did not even know where he was playing until last season when RBL got promoted. Could this mean that he was in the second division while Karius was leading Mainz to the EL for the first time in their history? I don't know BUT the OP is being very unfair here.

I would like to know if ED02 is supplying @WonderDog Sparky with some kind of hallucinogenic substance?

There's some serious weird rubbish coming out of that dogs mouth; reminds me of the stuff me ol' mucker "Schmokin Tailpipe" used to come out with when he was "experimenting" in the 60's!

1.) 09 Jan 2018 08:56:50
i enjoy reading it to the point that i set twitter to notify me when WDS tweets. but i swear since the beginning in December i have absolutely no clue what WDS is talking about. still enjoy it somehow though. maybe the problem is reading it while im sober.

2.) 09 Jan 2018 10:45:36
Ed02 clarified yesterday that he has NOTHING to do with WonderDogSparky. He refused to be drawn into any links with this dog. And I believe him.
There are some similarities between WonderDogSparky and ED02 speech and tone, but these are probably more apparent than real.
Ed02 don't do twitter or any social media anyways. He hates it. But am sure he'd take to WonderDogSparky. In fact he probably does like the dog.

{Ed002's Note - #WonderDogSparky has a much gruffer voice than me - except when someone treads on his tail.}

EDS - any thoughts/ updates on the GK situation?

With Manninger being released, Danny Ward expressing a wish to stay at Huddersfield, Bogdan likely to be sold on, that leaves us somewhat thin on this position. (Karius, Migs and Fulton) .

shothorse

{Ed001's Note - not sure how that is thin? Is that not enough?}

1.) 12 Jun 2017 08:48:51
3 keepers for a whole season, with all the games we're likely to have, seems a bit thin to me. Especially as only 2 of them have top flight experience.

Just wondered if we're looking at strengthening; I read the rumours regards Hart and Casillas and a "seasoned" keeper may not be a bad idea (for backup) . Not sure if either of them would be my choice personally.

2.) 12 Jun 2017 09:13:24
How many keepers did we use last season?

3.) 12 Jun 2017 09:42:20
Joke post of the day?

4.) 12 Jun 2017 10:53:17
Saying "Hart and Casillas" in the same sentence as "Strengthening" is HILARIOUS.

5.) 12 Jun 2017 12:25:38
Joe "The Ego" Hart would never come to be anything but first choice. That would be a disaster imo.

6.) 12 Jun 2017 12:42:35
I think you've missed the point of the post, or maybe have problems understanding it!

I'm not suggesting for one moment that adding Hart or Casillas would strengthen our side, and as I further added, neither of them would be my choice for being signed.

If either Karius or Migs sustained a long term injury, that leaves us with Ryan Fulton as the primary backup; assuming Ward goes to Huddersfield.

At least with Manninger we had a proven premiership keeper as standby and with him now being released, we could fall short with goalkeeping quality; in a season where we have more to play for (should we lose a keeper long term) .

My question was aimed at anyone with useful information as whether any keepers were being looked at (to replace Manninger) or maybe if one of our "someone in the know" posters, thought one of the other youngsters, Lawrence Vigouroux maybe, be given the opportunity to play more for the 1st team?

7.) 12 Jun 2017 13:55:02
I'm sure vigoroux signed permanently for Swindon last season?

8.) 12 Jun 2017 14:40:30
Shay Given .

9.) 12 Jun 2017 16:19:13
Realistically though, GKs can play a lot more often without fatigue so an injury doesn't really create too much strain on the side unless you have another on top and both are reasonable long term (Very unlikely), I would be happy to see Grabara play backup if critical.

07 Jun 2017 15:27:11
EDS - Is Karius still the preferred GK for next season, or does Klopp now have someone else in mind?

shothorse

{Ed001's Note - Migs is ahead of him at the moment.}

1.) 07 Jun 2017 15:38:04
Ed01 if Migs continues the way he finished last season would you be happy for us too keep him?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

2.) 07 Jun 2017 16:25:30
Is it assumed that Migs has done enough to change Klopp's mind? I remember reading in previous posts that Karius was the preferred choice?

Klopp not looking at any other keeper?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have looked at other goalkeepers and it remains unclear whole will stay, go on loan etc.. Manninger will need replacing.}

I don't suppose there's any chance that the plane flying over Anfield recently can't be used too hasten Brendan's end of year review in Boston???

That's what most people say when they're not sure about their relationships!

I wonder if we could get Barcelona investigated for tapping up our player.

And this is based on you:

a) being in the know?
b) having a gut feeling?
c) taking it from Labour's wish list?

Southampton has for some years had a very progressive youth and academy setup. Look at some of the youngsters they've nurtured, put into their first team and then sold on for vast sums . Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bale to name a few.
