Hi Ed, You stated a day or 2 ago that signing VVD was impasse for LFC. Has / could that change now VVD has handed his TR in?
Thanks.

rhys1982

{Ed001's Note - not yet as far as I know.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 13:19:56
Why so much fuss over a TR? Saints knew VVD wanted out months ago and that LFC was his preferred destination. The TR is simply a public confirmation of that and the player's willingness to forego the 5% portion of the transfer fee.
Fingers crossed we get him, at least Klopp would get one of his 1st choice targets this window.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 13:39:14
Spot on, IB. Also, remember that FSG has come out to end our interest in VVD and I don't think they will go back on their word tho, I may be wrong. Saints are also entitled to refuse VVD's TR or sell him to someone else other than LFC so I suggest that people calm down as this development changes next to nothing.

Hi Guys, I really don't mean to upset anyone by saying this - but I can not believe the hype / support of potentially Suso coming back? Yes, he was never given a chance at LFC and he has certainly proved himself to be a decent player for Milan. However, can you really see Suso improving LFC? To hopefully win a trophy soon? challenge for the prem? I see Suso more at Everton / West Ham level than where LFC are aiming to be. Again, I hope not to upset anyone by saying this.

How many Milan games have you actually watched for 90 minutes?
How many actual games did you see him play for LFC before he left?
Thats half the bother on here too many people writing players off before they start and with zero real information,
I don't see Pogba being moaned about since utd bought him back, nobody knows who will improve us until they come and wear the shirt and as for Suso i remember everyone on here clamouring for him to start games for us when he was a novice so why not now?
Not everyone has to cost 100m to fit you know.

2.) 12 Jan 2018 11:31:11
Reply to SuperGrob - I never said everyone has to cost 100m to fit in did I? In fact none of our players have ever cost 100m so I don't see why you say that?

I don't know why you mention Pogba either?
I have seen a few Milan games yes, I don't think any of their attacking players would improve us, that's my point.
If Suso wasn't a former LFC player, I highly doubt that you would want ti sign him.

3.) 12 Jan 2018 12:17:11
hi supergrob,

I think what you're saying about people being down on a signing despite having limited consistent viewing on their performance can completely apply to the opposite. in that people overhype someone to be this amazing player but failing to admit they've watched 1 or 2 cameo performances of them or seen their stats for the season without watching them at all.

far too many people on either watch nothing but football with every Serie A, Bundesliga, BBVA and Ligue 1 top team each week, or are fibbing a little.

just saying.

Pretty sure Suso is in Spain’s World Cup squad now. and I seem to remember ED001 saying a few years back that the under 21 Spanish squad was pretty much set up around him because he was thought so highly of. he's never going to score buckets of goals but he has an eye for a pass and plenty of tricks. the only negative thing I would say is he is not very quick he’d be more like a pirlo type player.

5.) 12 Jan 2018 14:01:29
Suso is not in Spains world cup squad, what are you talking about? he was called up for a friendly and didn't play!

6.) 12 Jan 2018 14:13:12
I think we as supporters sometimes over-value our own young players. I never saw Suso enough to be able rate him at all, but the times I did see him I was not overly impressed. I will concede that players mature at different rates, so just because he didn't set the world on fire before doesn't mean he won't in the future.

Hello Eds, general question regarding the pre-contract situation.

As i understand it (I'll use Goretzka as an example) .
Goretzka is unable to speak to a German club until the summer, but free to speak with foreign clubs now. Does Bayern Munich officially declaring an interest in the player count as a form of 'tapping up' or breaking the rules at all?

rhys1982

{Ed001's Note - you misunderstand it. Bayern can offer him a precontract now for the summer. It is only between English clubs that a deal has to wait until a month before the deal ends.}

1.) 05 Jan 2018 13:38:54
This wasn't the case with Matip as far as I remember?

2.) 05 Jan 2018 13:57:16
My understanding is that the player can discuss/ sign pre contract with clubs from other associations/ leagues in the last 6 months of his contract. However, he can't do so with a club playing in the association.

So Goreztka can't discuss/ sign pre contract with a German club (Bayern say) but can do so with say Liverpool, Juve, Barca, River Plate etc.
Same thing now with Emre Can and Juve.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 14:38:15
RBL, that's the way I understand it as well.

So if that is correct, surely B. Munich have been wrong in declaring an interest now?

4.) 05 Jan 2018 14:38:59
He can if schalke give permission.

5.) 05 Jan 2018 16:57:17
RBL and others, see Ed002's reply to the OP, its only in England that teams from the same association have to wait until the month before. In Germany, for example, a team in the same league can sign a pre-contract.

6.) 05 Jan 2018 18:48:44
All things can work so long as the club with the player's registration are in discussions and agree. Something liverpool should take note of.

Has Suso improved that much to be considered as PC's replacement?

I disagree. No league title since 1990 suggests we are not just fine.
