ESPNFC. COM and Bleacher Report now reporting Liverpool have agreed to deal with Barcelona and its all done and dusted.

To your knowledge is this correct?

If he is going, surely we'd hold off on the deal until a replacement is in the bag. Has to be part of negotiations IMHO.

Andy, when have we ever done anything as sensible as that? We know the drill by now. It will drag out until near the end of the window and we'll panic buy and overspend on a player who simply isn't up to it. There are better run Sunday League teams out there.

Any update on LB targets? most of news seems focused on VVD, Keita, Ox but concerned no real momentum towards signing a specific target is evident for our weakest position, LB. City seems to have leg up on Mendy.

agreed redordeadJA - the lack of movement is frustrating. I would want a complete squad by August. The first CL qualifier on 15th/ 16th August is one of our biggest games in last few years. Certainly need the defence sorted by then.

Sorry Ed01, I was referring to Post VvDgate as the only speculation in the media seems to be linking us with players you and other Eds have discounted. I get the feeling that the flow has been reduced as I'm guessing we will get a CB and LB at least and all we are seeing are old stories rehashed.

Wondering if you have any news re how we are progressing w Emre Can's contract?

Do you feel confident it will be successfully renewed? Could the club be waiting on Keita or other midfield upgrades before deciding Emres future?

Personally would like to see him get the extension

Hi Eds,

with all the happenings around incomings, i've lost sight of where we are with renewing Emre Can contract. in jan/ feb i was half ready to let him go, but really came on strong in last 10 gms or so in hendo extended absence. Defn think we need to secure and continue to develop him. Are we being overconfident to think he won't get fed up with us not jumping to renew and up and leave? Or is he and Klopp so close we have nothing to fret about?

i used search but couldn't find any recent updates on paredes. is he most preferred CM behind Keita if that deal doesn't materialize? from what i've seen his real strength is key long passes to start the break- seems to really fit w klopp attack.

Do we have any interest in Quincy Promes? There were links in last Jan window and he would be great on LW across from Mane w similar pace. Not a break the bank type signing either - potentially under 20m Dutchman w friendship w Gini from national team etc
