Apparently, Barcelona interested in Lovren. Don't know how reliable my source is, but he is well positioned in Croatian footy.

mandzo

{Ed025's Note - he must be a good groundsman or something..

1.) 16 Oct 2018 22:38:41
You’d like to think so ed25.Have you seen our new Desso pitch recently? It’s the most perfect playing surface and it looks amazing under the supervision of Dave McCulloch.

It’s a new state of the art Permavoid’ system which speeds up drainage at wetter times of the year.

A perfect playing pitch for teams that want to come to Anfield and play football, a wasted use of our turf for those that only come the park the bus. 😬.

{Ed025's Note - we wont be coming to park any buses drogie, you may need that drainage system to catch all those tears when we derail your title bid mate.. :)

2.) 16 Oct 2018 22:56:12
Haha. I’d like to think we have a title bid to for you to derail ed25.

Watching city against us last week showed we are still behind them mate.

{Ed025's Note - i still think you have a hell of a chance drogie, you have not hit top form yet mate and when you do you can beat anyone..

3.) 17 Oct 2018 10:07:48
One thing Drogie, Goodison has the same pitch mate. Search GrassMaster on wikipedia and it lists all the major grounds worldwide that uses the tech.

Question for Ed002. Does Liverpool have any interest in Dani Olmo. Croatian media claim they do. Just a reminder, Dani Olmo was Barcelona u16 and Spain captain, but he hada clause Dinamo Zagreb triggered, and he moved bcos he wanted senior football. It was excellent decision for him as he is currently best player in croatian league and a joy to watch. He iscreative midfielder (for me best at 10).

mandzo

{Ed002's Note - Dinamo Zagreb are happy to profiteer over the transfer of Dani Olmo with interest from Borussia Dortmund, Crystal Palace, Cagliari and most noticably Milan. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool at all.}

1.) 02 Oct 2018 22:32:40
Now harry is going to watch every dinamo game and become an expert on this player.

2.) 02 Oct 2018 22:45:37
On the player? You mean on the league!

3.) 02 Oct 2018 23:06:48
Thank you ed for your answer.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

4.) 03 Oct 2018 14:44:21
Dianamo Zegreb has produced some of the best midfielders of our time. From Modric to Coric! Truly gifted Croatians!

5.) 06 Oct 2018 05:24:53
Dianamo Zegreb? Is that the women’s team?

18 Jul 2018 09:46:17
Hello Eds and Reds. Can't wait for the start of the next season. Imagine if we sign Allison and Fekir what an epic season it would be . So here is a rumour i personaly don't belive in but Croatian media are keen on it for last 2 days. Apperently Liverpool is interesed in Vida, who would be cheap and upgrade on Klavan and Matip. Having played footy myself with some of the croatian members of national team i think Vida is a good fit for a passionate team of warriors that is always on front foot. Same goes for Lovren and all Croatians lol. I just don't see us getting rid of Klavan or Matip to get Vida who is not that much of an upgrade. Let's wait and see. Cheers!

mandzo

1.) 18 Jul 2018 11:19:18
He'd be a huge upgrade on Matip in my honest opinion. Not much better than Klavan maybe, but he's a couple of levels above Matip.

I doubt it is true though. He's mates with Lovren and played a good World Cup. In Journalism school 2+2=5.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 11:23:07
Just really hope we see the back of Matip, I don't want to personally slate him or anything, I just honestly think he's nowhere near good enough for us from the time he's been here.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 11:38:46
I think with Matip the physicality of the football here might not suit him. It could just be that he might need longer to adjust to it, or maybe never will.
Klopp's call.

4.) 18 Jul 2018 11:42:16
Maybe someone like west ham will come in with a bid for him. Seems like their style of player. Flashy with not enough substance to really be a brilliant acquisition. Great rumour and I liked the lad at the World Cup.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 13:18:11
No way. A clumsier version of Lovren is not what we need.

6.) 18 Jul 2018 14:14:00
He looks a little too much like Voronin for my liking.

21 Jun 2017 09:59:19
Have a question for ed002. I was very impressed by Koulibaly of Napoli especially his speed and recovery, also very good in the air and I think, as VVD for now is dead we should atleast try. Has there been any aproach for the player apart from chelsea? napoli are hard to negotiate but would like him at our club. thanks in advance.

mandzo

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea had an offer rejected last year and have not lost sight of the player.}

1.) 21 Jun 2017 18:47:29
This guy is a real beast.

2.) 21 Jun 2017 19:46:37
To be fair Ed002, it'd be hard to lose sight of him at 6'7" I reckon I can see him from here if I squint a bit.

3.) 21 Jun 2017 20:47:05
If you squint a lot, Klaven looks great.

4.) 22 Jun 2017 11:40:22
Thought rudiger looked very comfortable on the ball the other day when I watched him and seemed to have decent pace. Whilst I like VVD I have a feeling the FA are likely to look very closely at the deal if we try for that to happen. Shame, but we know klopp wants a CB and will pay big so we need alternatives.

5.) 22 Jun 2017 12:18:42
Youd have to squint so hard that your eyes would nearly be in again.

04 Jul 2016 15:20:25
As it stands Zielinski is Napoli bound. We will try to push for Dahoud now. if not we will stick with wee Joe Pirlo.

Was impressed with kovacic for Chelsea. What a ball for Hazard, there was a tiny gap and he exploited it. He also pressed and was really disciplined and his passing in tight areas and control of the ball is sick. His every pass in on a plate for his teammate to easily control. He adapted quickly on premier league and will be key for chelsea.

mandzo

1.) 30 Sep 2018 09:30:10
Harry did tell us all.

2.) 30 Sep 2018 12:02:46
Harry's been telling us how good this guy is for a good few seasons.

3.) 30 Sep 2018 15:06:04
Harry tells us about 52 spectacular non-Liverpool players per year (one per week on average) . (Okay, I exaggerate, but you get my point) . Such a shame Real Madrid let's all their best players leave. 😉.

17 Sep 2018 07:41:29
It is so funny how people judge and forget. Joe Gomez is now "best cb in the league", new Ramos, part of the best cb pairing and stuff like that. Leave the kid play football and judge after full season. So easy to praise and so easy to critisize. Imagine moura burried that afwul positioning error, and that basic pass error. Im still not conviced by him. He tackles good but that doesn't make you a good defender. All of us went crazy about that tackle against Leicster, when it would be lot easier if our team dealt with it earlir. If you have to tackle you already done a mistake! Hopefully Jie will continue working hard and grab his chance.

mandzo

1.) 17 Sep 2018 08:09:43
Yeah let's spend another 60 million on another CB and get rid of Gomez he is no good and won't improve by playing more and more games and gaining experience.

2.) 17 Sep 2018 09:20:22
OP lol what? how is he at fault when the mids didn't do the defensive work and his option was to tackle and he did so with aplomb? he is a very good defender. and he is only going to improve with VVD. Fans can't rave about their players now?
they call lingaard the next ronaldo at some club!

3.) 17 Sep 2018 09:46:00
He’s a young kid, already playing for England and has had a few excellent games in a relatively new position. What more do you expect from someone his age to be so ‘unconvinced by him’?

I agree it’s to early to be proclaiming him the new Alan Hansen, but he clearly has a lot going for him so far. To expect someone like him (or anyone for that matter) never to make an error is unreasonable IMO.

4.) 17 Sep 2018 11:11:13
i think all he was saying is leave the kid alone to play and improve. he isn't perfect, and pointed that out. i mean if you read it all manzo is aying the kid is good, not the finished article and leave it out and et the lad develop.

5.) 17 Sep 2018 11:31:53
Players will only get better with experience, Rome was not built in a day and that certainly applies to young players. Id much rather him be making mistakes alongside players like van dijk and alisson, the liverpool starting lineup is the best thing for him and our team right now.

6.) 17 Sep 2018 11:26:54
People carefully chose their words to suit their requirements 😁. We have done that many times. I am not a big fan of Gomez like many on this site are. He keeps making basic silly errors for which any other defender would have been slaughtered for!

7.) 17 Sep 2018 11:32:10
While i understand what you're getting at regarding not getting ahead of ourselves with regards to Gomez, he's been a constant part of a solid backline that's only conceded 2 goals in 5 games. That's a good thing. Nobody so far this season has made no mistakes, so you seem to be being a bit harsh.

8.) 17 Sep 2018 11:56:17
He’s still a kid, nobody is a great defender at his age. Defending and goalkeeping positions are so hard to break into for young players at top clubs because the mistakes are so noticeable and high profile, so you get very little patience from the fans. Both him and Arnold will make plenty of mistakes this season but both also will do a lot of things right as well, just be patient and let them grow because we could be looking at two future captains of liverpool there.

9.) 17 Sep 2018 13:44:47
Gomez has done well this season, his speed and covering play has been a positive. He has been caught out of position a couple of times but over 5 games he's been a big plus.
If we're critical of him for getting too close to Moura we should also highlight him safely bringing sending him the wrong way before bringing the ball out to start the move Keita could have scored from.

10.) 17 Sep 2018 17:59:27
Gomez is a awful right full but looks good at center half

He does fall asleep to often for me and needs to cut it out

Or the likes or psg Chelsea napoil and city will make you pay.

11.) 17 Sep 2018 23:09:24
He has been as good as VVD so far this season though.

20 Aug 2018 10:13:24
Tonights game will give us so many answers.
1) our defence will be tested (wanna see how Gomez will react)
2) Palaca will force balls into box (big game for Alisson tonight)
3) Can our midfield dictate tempo away from home when we play physical opposition.
4) how many Bobby Mane and Salah wil score?
5) how good Keita will be?

mandzo

1.) 20 Aug 2018 10:35:55
Agree - this is where the rubber meets the road. our ability to win consistently away from home against tricky sides like this will determine if we are credible challengers or not.

2.) 20 Aug 2018 11:01:10
I have this eerie horrible feeling. Its LFC, i has never been smooth in the last 25 years. I think palace will give us a nice headache tonite. . Quite a few Ex LFC in there too. it doesn't look good. Hope we score 4 in 20 minutes to ease some pressure.

3.) 20 Aug 2018 11:21:56
yes agree, its a good test away from home but if we do lose or draw it doesn't necessarily mean the season is over as many will have us believe should that happen.

4.) 20 Aug 2018 11:31:30
If I were one of the boys, and after having reached the CL final only 3 months ago, my confidence would be sky high. Beat the EPL Champions in 3 out of 4 games, and beat some of Europe's best teams to get to the Final. And then added vital reinforcements in the summer. If confidence was 50/ 50 last year, it should be 90/ 10 now. I wouldn't be overconfident at all, I would just tell myself to continue doing what we do as a team, and what we showed in the first game of the season.

Why is everyone worried?

5.) 20 Aug 2018 11:37:13
What happens if the lads have a bad game tonight or we don’t get the win? Do we just pack up and go home. To me this is just another game. Our season won’t be defined tonight. We have another 36 league games to go after this one. Let’s just take every game as they come and enjoy them.

6.) 20 Aug 2018 11:52:12
Exactly ArAy. These boys know they are capable of beating any side, so as long as they are confident and not complacent then it should be an easy win tonight. I really think/ hope the Liverpool side capable of losing these sort of games is a thing of the past.

7.) 20 Aug 2018 12:57:54
This is the best team that we have had for 25 years. It needs to be to win the league. We have boss forwards. Boss midfield. Boss defenders and now we've got a girl in goal. who is boss.

8.) 20 Aug 2018 13:56:01
Spot on. These are the games that decide how good your going to be.

Home games and big games are a no brainer as there's so much motivation. Is it there away on a cold rainy night against palace, the game without all the bells and whistles and one where you are going to have to fight, grapple and potentially force a result.

9.) 20 Aug 2018 14:19:04
Agree one result doesn’t define our season but I think we’re at the point now where we are pretty close to the finished article and we have the strength and depth across the pitch to be able to control games against the likes of Palace, even away from home.

That’s what City can do, and what we need to do if we are to challenge. This game will be a useful measure of that.

10.) 20 Aug 2018 16:01:57
In a lot of ways, I think this is the kind of match that we need at this point in the season. It's the kind of game where we've slipped up in the past, it's against a decent side that have a bit of everything and it's away from home.

As others have said, a loss isn't the end of the world, or the end of our title chances. After last weekend, I imagine there's a fair bit of confidence going through the team - we have options on the bench and we've strengthened the first 11 incredibly well.

I'd usually be really nervous about games like this, but I feel sure we can get the job done. I'd take a scrappy 0-1, but I'm relatively confident.

Is it just me that feels like we've had to wait ages for the second match?

11 Aug 2018 08:33:06
De gea once more with 2 brilliant saves. If Mancs had Migs they would battle for europa league. Hope Alison settles in quickly.

mandzo

1.) 11 Aug 2018 08:53:36
Any need to slag migs off now? Hasn't played for us in months, bit like beating a dead horse.

2.) 11 Aug 2018 09:08:50
Agree just wanted to point out how crucial Degea is for them and how we habe been unlucky with gk position. 2 brilliant saves yesterday saved them atleast 2 points.

3.) 11 Aug 2018 09:49:15
A keeper doing his job? Never. Without Salah you guys would have finished in Europa League places aswell, every team has a star player, if just happens to be that Utd's keeper is theirs. The same goes for Spurs without Kane and us with Hazard, only well rounded team is City.

4.) 11 Aug 2018 10:15:50
Liverpool finished top 4 the last 2 seasons, one of them without Salah. A top keeper saves games. I think United need Degea more than we need Salah in terms of top 4.
We have improved areas that we showed weakness in last season so hopefully we can close the gap between us and City. Pogba, Mourinho relationship will implode soon just my opinion.
I respect all the teams in the prem. I think most clubs are improving.

5.) 11 Aug 2018 10:33:01
Agree with Morgy. Just can't belive how poor United build up play is. Team with Baily, Lindelof, Pogba, Matic, Alexis (who was one of best player in the league), Mata and Lukaku. De Gea only player that stands out constatly.

6.) 11 Aug 2018 10:47:15
We can appreciate De Gea's undoubted quality without snide comments about Mignolet though.

7.) 11 Aug 2018 11:08:00
News flash, mignolet isn’t as good as De Gea - neither is anyone else in the world mind, hardly say ‘slagging him off’.

8.) 11 Aug 2018 17:17:16
Spot on, Morgy. Sarribal, You can't use Salah as an excuse here. Why? LFC were scoring goals for fun since Klopp came through the door and as someone else said, we made top 4 in 16/ 17 w/ o Salah and also, the Salah you speak of, was the same Salah who many doubted and even threw in the trash when we signed him, saying he would not start or would not be good enuff cos of his Chelsea period.

The fact of the matter is that the Salah we all saw and continue to see in preseason, is the Salah Klopp created, a true world class talent that Klopp (who doubted him at first before he signed him) molded and made him part of the most ferocious attack in near all of Europe. DDG is Utd's best player and has been for 5 years and frankly w/ o him, they would be nothing but a miserable memory in terms of their standing in the PL.

In all seriousness, I would not want our GK to be our best player and Utd fans had better get used to the dross that Mou served up for the upteenth time last night cos it is who they are now.

9.) 11 Aug 2018 17:38:07
All of the top clubs in England have worldies in goal. Whoever makes the team of the year this season is the best goalkeeper in the world. I like Allison's chances, especially with him quarterbacking these long passes to our fullbacks and front three.

18 Mar 2018 12:56:26
Congrats to our defence for another clean sheet! Have this feeling Karius will grab his chance and be our Gk for years to come as he and VVD got us stability.

mandzo

1.) 18 Mar 2018 13:21:04
Defenders look like they have a keeper they can trust. He’s been on good form since getting the shirt back. Has not put a foot wrong and produced some top class saves.

2.) 18 Mar 2018 20:25:00
He's a human being, he'll make a mistake at some point. Watch the slagging he gets then.
It looks like he's shaken Mignolet off for the number 1 spot, and deservedly so. Fingers crossed he goes from strength to strength.

3.) 18 Mar 2018 21:04:34
In the Watford game, Robbo intercepted a cross in the box, passed it to Wiji and with Watford players around him, passed it to Karius. Karius did not panic for a second. He recieved the ball and pinged it up field with a calming air of confidence. This is where I felt in the moment that Karius is now comfortable in his skin as LFC no. 1.

AlsoThe defenders trust him more even tho, he's still rough around the edges and needs to improve on other aspects of his game and he can only do that by playing more and improving.

FlashTheRed is right tho. He has made next to no mistakes so far since the City game BUT if he makes one next time, many of our fans will turn on him like a snap of a finger.

4.) 18 Mar 2018 21:45:10
Sad but true brover.

Salah was poor? Really? I just disagree. Being football player, Salah is a nightmare playing against, and he was giving chelsea some serious problems. Currently only problem is his finishing. His movement and dribbling is superb. If he scored atleast one, we would all be praising him. Give the man some rest and get of his back. This will not help, esp with stupid media already writing about 'poor' Salah.

Absolutely delighted to hear we are in for him. He is such a wonderful player and something we are missing when teams sit deep as he can carry the ball and slice apart defence with a pass. good to be linked with jorginho and draxler. Keita already signed. Good times ahead.

Blaming Karius and Lovren for goals is just not right guys. both goals are product of a lot of mistakes from a lot of players not just Lovren, Karius, and young TAA. Our defence has improved massivly over past month and they need to grow together. You can't blame Lovren for losing areal chalenge 35metars from our goal with Lukaku. player can't win every duel Lovren is very solid lately and his positioning and passing improved. he will grow with VVD.

Agree with most of the things written here. I belive Klopp know what the issue is and will find couple of mechanisams for our front three. For my liking Mane has been taking to many touches and lost eye for pass. Everyone is attacking Salah who is always marked so well and our midfield is not exploiting those areas, that a player like Kovacic would get into and be a threat. Unfourtanatly Keita is not yet that sort of player as he often looks lost and seems not relaxed, as he is always thinking where he should be and what are his duties. When he feels more comfortable he will be great player for us. We need Fabinho at his best soon as he could be like a fresh force in the race. City still the favourites but we are close.
