Kelleher has been playing really well recently, was just wondering ed001 opinion on his recent performances if have time.
{Ed001's Note - he has been excellent, the odd flap at crossed but no one is perfect. I do fear that he needs experience that he will only get by being first choice and that he is good enough to be first choice almost anywhere else. It feels like a waste of his potential to be second fiddle.}

I'd agree Ed1, offers will be there for him after this season. He's been quality and shown how good he can be, clubs will come for him and in my opinion he'd be daft to turn them down. He deserves to be first choice elsewhere which isn't ideal for us because we need somebody like him as a number two but couldn't blame the lad if he left.

Ed01, Im already resigned to the fact that Kellerher will go this summer. For me, he has to go and fulfill his glaring potential elsewhere so he can have his own proper career which he would have deserved, IMO.
This now, makes the goalkeeping situation a bit more concerning on the other hand cos Allison picks up the odd injury here and there and with Adrian probably gone this summer, we will need a no. 2 (we can promote from within for the no. 3 spot, like we did with Kellerher) who is as reliable as Keller is and not sure where we can find one right now.

What would everyone’s midfield 3 be if all our midfielders are fit? Be interesting to hear ed001 if he has time.

I think szobo and jones is a definite for me. The press is off the scale when those two are on together.
I'd like also to see what Trent does in the 6 but I still maintain we needed an athletic six in the summer and I stand by that. If Bajcetic could get and stay fit, I would be ecstatic. He is exactly the type of player I have in mind but with the growing issues, I'd add another.
Having watched Andre, I think it would be right to move from him. We need a pacy tackling game reader in that position with pace mentioned first for good reason. Our DM has to operate in an environment when the press breaks down and there's space. He needs to move quickly from one fire to the next to slow the play down for people to get back. That could be Arnold's bag potentially but it might not be. We won't know until we see it.
I don't blame Klopp for the Macca experiment. I thought he was getting used to it at a few points but now I do think it's just too alien for him. Worth a try but time to move on.
I'm so sorry to say this but I still don't think Endo is the answer either although it is fair he hasn't had a fair crack. I just think he is not quick enough for first team starter. Backup wise head for experience sub.

Ed01, I hear you on Trent as that is your opinion. However, who plays RB esp. if we ditch this inverted crap? Trent is unique at RB with the way he plays it for us esp. offensively so for me, he should stay RB.
As for who starts in a mid 3 when all are fit, I would take Szobo, Macca and really, Endo at least for now. Why? Cos that could bring the best out of Macca with Endo as his partner in the pivot, something that Macca trhived on at Brighton. Thoughts?

Mac allister slows play down for me when the forwards are wanting the ball quicker . This is where Curtis has the edge he now plays the ball quicker which was my biggest irk against jones in the past . If Curtis can add that quickness and sharpness to his game give mac allister time and I think he can also . But he is not a 6 and we need to move on from him as a 6 and get in the player that is needed in that role . Still think khephren thuram has all the attributes to become a worldie .
Endo is a squadie a real good pro that will do as you ask to the best of his ability but he’s is nothing more unfortunately.
Trent in the 6 needs a run of games perhaps when Bradley is fit that might be in klopps thoughts .

Bajetic holding with Trent and Szlob in front of him. I don’t think Trent is a full back nor do I think he is a holding midfielder. For me he needs to play on the right of the midfield 3 or not at all. Probably not popular but I’ll die on that hill. Trying to shoehorn him into the midfield from a defensive starting position is our biggest issue at the moment by a long distance. People can talk about signing better defenders or a holding midfielder as much as they want but so long as Trent’s position remains an issue we won’t be challenging for anything.

Ed01, I know Jones had been very good to gret for us. As you will know, I have been his biggest fan from jump even when many have quit on himwhile others have wanted him sold or gotten rid of so I know how great he is so you are preaching to the choir on that one, man.
I just have the opinion that if Macca plays further forward where he trived at Brighton hence the reason we actually signed him, his creativitiy can come thru and shine a lot more, creativity that Jones does not possess as much right now, IMO.
IMO, You are judging him based on him playing a position that does not suit him, something you have criticised Klopp for doing myltiple times already in your podcasts. Now should he be getting caght on the ball as much or giving it away? Absolutely not and should do better, for sure BUT I think that is due to the fact that he is coming to grips playing deeper cos at Brighton if he lost the ball up the pitch, Caicedo would plug the holess. That's not happening now for obv. reasons. Just my take.

There absolutely is an excuse for macallister. he's being asked to do something he's failing in and that can affect anyone's confidence. Again. Klopp could have played trent as a 6 and gomez as the right back until maybe bradley came back. He's not. He clearly doesn't trust him to be a DM. we lost fabinho. Think fans nees to remember his role. We miss that role of midfielder and trent most certainly isn't that.
Also Jones is no world beater. We never signed a caicedo or lavia. Endos not fancied this Jones has been given his chance and has worked very hard. No doubt many Liverpool fans would prefer bajetic gets a real run of games when fit or we sign a thuram.

I think Jones has been good this season when playing but he’s only actually started 4 league games and 1 of those he saw red after 26 mins.
He did well in the 3 other games he started and it’s good to see him do well and hope he gets over this injury sooner rather than later but it’s hard to justify saying he’s been the key component after we’ve played 11 games.

Jones has only played half the games this season. How can he be the key man? People are talking like he’s VVD Salah or Allison. He’s been decent in some games granted but still missed the last 2 matches when needed. He needs to show 6 months of consistent high level before he can be classed a key man.

I don't think Klopp/ Lindjers want to play a midfield three, they want a midfield four but don't want to play three at the back or two up front, so persevere with the inverted TAA thing, which isn't one or the other.

Because if you go back to last season when we changed formation Jones was integral to the midfield press and the upturn in our form. It has been clear this season too that we’re a much more coherent pressing team when he starts…so the sample size is more than 3 games this season.

This is difficult to answer because the real answer depends game to game. The idea that there is a “starting 3” shouldn’t be the thinking.
But to play the game, in general I’d have Mac and Szobo as the 8/ 10s and Endo/ Baj/ Trent at 6.

Agreed MIZER. I’m not going to comment on who is superior out of Jones, Elliot and Macca as I’m just happy we have a good squad. However bashing Macca for his DM performances is like bashing Hendo and Fabs for not doing well at CB a few years back when they were told to play there or bashing Steven Caulker for not scoring us any goals when he got thrown on to play up top. Remember that tactical genius from Klopp and co? The man has done great things but he’s not infallible. Players not doing well and losing confidence because they are being played out of position is down to him and him alone. He’s the manager, he gets all the credit and all the stick. Comes with the territory.

The ones I find funny are those who whenever we are debating tactics or player selections, always come with the tired nonsense of, "Klopp knows a lot more than you do so. ".
