Hi Eds, Is there any truth in the reported interest in Gini Wijnaldum?

kss

{Ed001's Note - there is interest in him, yes.}

1.) 11 Jul 2018 11:52:25
Do you know if he's looking to leave ed01?

{Ed001's Note - it is a possibility, though he is not forcing a move or anything. It is one of those moments where he wants to know how Klopp sees him being used before he makes a decision.}

2.) 11 Jul 2018 11:57:30
There must be a few players thinking the same in midfield at the moment with all the new additions and the possiblily of Fekir or similar coming in too. 3 new mids our captain for 3 places plus utility players like the ox, I’ve no idea where wij, Lallana, Milner etc would see themselves, this stage of their careers need to be playing more regular.

3.) 11 Jul 2018 12:00:36
Thanks for the reply mate, it would be a shame to see him leave as I think we still need him this season.

I do believe though that this will be his last season if he does stay.

4.) 11 Jul 2018 12:51:20
Fernabache looking him. He's been offered to someone else but they don't want him. Looks like he'll go. I mentioned this a week ago.

28 Jun 2018 14:33:44
Hi Eds, seen some talk of Son from Spurs. Do we hold any Interest in him and would Spurs be willing to sell if we were interested? Thanks very much.

kss

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 28 Jun 2018 14:39:59
There was talk of him joining before he joined Spurs. If I remember rightly, Ed001 was quite gutted that we didn't get him.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool saw him as an alternative to Vietto at the time.}

2.) 28 Jun 2018 14:48:01
An alternative? What was our recruitment team smoking at the time? Fml.

3.) 28 Jun 2018 14:49:18
I read a story recently saying Son would have to do Military service if South Korea were knocked out early in the world cup. It really does make you wonder how some of these 'journalists' get a job.

4.) 28 Jun 2018 14:55:20
Actually Shents I believe there is something to it, there was a large thread on Reddit about it posted by a South Korean. It was his assertion that professional athletes are only exempt from military service if they either win a medal at the olypmics or win their sports prestigious competition (I think) .

It made for an interesting read, although I don't know how true it is. Perhaps Ed002 could fill us in.

{Ed002's Note - I explained it on the Spurs page a while back, but it is sort of as you say.}

5.) 28 Jun 2018 16:43:25
Thanks for your answer Ed002, Much appreciated as always.

6.) 28 Jun 2018 16:43:27
Here’s the original post and reply from the Spurs page regarding Son:

“14 Mar 2018 17:54:34
Ed if you don't mind just a question regarding son. If South Korea fail to do well in the international tournaments will son be forced to complete his military service or is there another way out of it for him?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There are plenty of examples of deferment or even exemption if sports people are seen to be respectfully representing their countries and make good will trips back which are high profile. Benayoun, Pak Ji-Song, Salah, Sahar, Vidic are all examples. }”

Hope this helps.

7.) 28 Jun 2018 18:05:42
I remember when he was in the H league, and he said c'mon baby dry your eyes I'm only Heung min.

8.) 28 Jun 2018 18:53:27
I knew there was some truth behind it Dan, I just really can't see it ever happening, and for me it's a story out of nothing. Son is arguably SK's star player and to be playing in the top 6 in the most watched league in the world promotes SK. As Ed2 pointed out, there are other players who have dealt with similar situations, though Korea's laws may be different I don't know.

9.) 29 Jun 2018 10:21:47
Im sure I recall one of the Eds suggesting that we should have being going for Son rather than Bobby F sometime back.

10.) 30 Jun 2018 16:52:15
I remember that too Brandt is was bobby we opted for instead so I don’t know why people are having a pop at the scouts. Maybe they don’t realise we can’t sign every player that’s ever shown some good form. 2 years ago nobody could give 2 hoots about son other than a couple of the Ed’s had said he was very good.

{Ed001's Note - you are correct mate, when I was telling people how good he was, everyone was disagreeing with me. I am still gutted we never got him.}

10 Jun 2018 11:21:17
Away from the Fekir deal. Just wondering if there is any genuine interest in Nick Pope, haven't seen his name mentioned before?

kss

1.) 10 Jun 2018 12:03:04
Id rather have Pope than Butland tbh, but most of all Id just stick with Karius, if we don't go for a proper upgrade anyway.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 13:22:14
I’d ratger neither. You can’t and shouldn’t buy a player on the back of one good season after a few mediocre ones. Screams of Charlie Adams. Pope plays in the most defensive team in the league. Its the Michael Keane thing all over again and look how well it’s worked out for him at Everton.

3.) 11 Jun 2018 14:48:52
Pope is with the England team in Russia, we can take a look then, it starts midweek,
he does tick a lot of boxes tho .

4.) 11 Jun 2018 21:14:02
With Frankly, on this one. Pope is decent BUT plays in a defensive system and he is not asked to do all the things Karius is asked and CAN do as in play out the back, play the high line, sweep up, be proactive with the ball. We have no clue if Pope can do that cos he has not done that at Burnley cos he is not required to do that. IMO, if you cannot get a GK like Allisson who will sort the position out for the long term, might as well stick with Karius. The Pope' and Butlands of this world, are nothing but bandaids personally, I am not interested in.

31 May 2018 11:32:43
Reports linking Fekir to Bayern and Atheltico this morning. Hope its not true. Eds will this encourage Lyon to hold out for money and make the deal more complicated?

Thanks for your info and time. much appreciated.

kss

{Ed002's Note - You all keep telling me it is "done deal". Lyon will do what they think is right for themselves.

I predict by mid to late afternoon today there will be something else as a feature of discussion taking over from the multiple "done deals". I expect the word "conspiracy" to be used by those who can spell it.}

1.) 31 May 2018 11:43:49
When I see Eds write things like that, I know I'm about to have a bad day.

2.) 31 May 2018 11:44:36
Interesting eds.

3.) 31 May 2018 11:50:50
The Fekir rumour is a smokescreen for our interest in Fellaini. Just leave it people.

4.) 31 May 2018 12:02:09
I guess we have been told by UEFA to play 1 champions league game behind closed doors. I guess it was coming.

5.) 31 May 2018 12:06:51
Zidane leaving real.

6.) 31 May 2018 12:10:30
Related to the UEFA charges we're facing over our indiscretions in Europe perhaps? I'm just guessing but I can't think of anything else unless we've done something really stupid in relation to transfer (again) .

7.) 31 May 2018 12:10:50
Totally UNcool. Would be really amazing if we get Fekir, Fabinho and Keita - fighters with multiple boxes ticked, players who others were after, not Konchesky, Voronin and Charlie Adam type of players.

Too bad it's all just rumours until it's on the official page. My guess (IF they do it) would be that we won't go for anybody else up front if we get Fekir and we would get Lallana, Can out of the first team. And that would be the best business by far I have seen Liverpool do in a very long time. Please, do.

8.) 31 May 2018 12:11:29
Am guessing something to do with uefa and the Man city bus incident. Just a guess of course.

9.) 31 May 2018 11:44:56
Is that anything to do with the Uefa findings due to be published against us today ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.

10.) 31 May 2018 11:46:37
Hi Ed love the site. Does this have anything to do with possible games having to be played behind closed doors in Europe next season?

{Ed002's Note - It has to do with today's meeting over a number of sides on the naughty step.}

11.) 31 May 2018 11:46:50
Apologies ED002. Didn't mean to say anything bad just a fan who gets excited about these transfers rumours.

12.) 31 May 2018 11:48:31
Ed I don't know if I'm worried or excited 😂 is Salah leaving or is their a Sharkopod in the pipeline haha.

13.) 31 May 2018 11:49:22
Could you please elaborate just a bit for us mere mortals ed2.?

{Ed002's Note - The mere motals will be whining later.}

14.) 31 May 2018 12:18:35
Play behind closed doors to kill the Anfield factor when we play our first Champions League group game next season . against Real Madrid.

15.) 31 May 2018 12:23:23
Banned from europe again?

16.) 31 May 2018 12:31:52
I read this morning a behind closed doors game and fine for the bus incident and then further punishment for crowd trouble with Roma.

17.) 31 May 2018 13:48:44
certainly no conspiracy. You can't attack an opposition's bus. Bunch of morons ruin things for the proper fans again but action must be taken at least try stop future happenings like this.

18.) 31 May 2018 14:05:45
Did you just Predict that Zidane would leave Madrid?
You probably own PSG or something.

19.) 31 May 2018 14:39:13
The Ed's just p*ssed that we're in the the position to be on the champions league naughty step 😂😂.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure if the answer will be tonight or tomorrow now. I have just spoken with someone from another side (who are also on the Naughty Step) and they were told they may hear the results today but tomorrow is more likely as they are hearing cases against eight clubs with multiple charges agains all but two. One relates to an appeal (Buffon) which is an easy fix the others they have been batching. The side concerned had 8 charges against them and provided a series of small statements and an overall apology - their prior record was raised, so they don't know where this will go.}

20.) 31 May 2018 20:41:48
Atleast somebody happy here!

29 May 2018 14:25:22
The Guardian reporting Liverpool are in advance talks to sign Fekir. Doubt this has any truth in it at the moment due to the Lyon president's and also the player comments. Guessing that this is just the newspaper trying to get some readers.

kss

1.) 29 May 2018 14:51:18
Guardian is generally reliable.

2.) 29 May 2018 15:30:21
Agreed DRM. They have fewer rumours, and what they print seems to be always within the possible.

3.) 29 May 2018 15:35:13
Ed002 did explain our interest and he expects us to make an approach to Lyon. I doubt this has happened yet however.

4.) 29 May 2018 16:18:43
Yeah, he wrote that we will make a formal approach only the other day, I will believe him over the Guardian. Although I wish the rumour was true.

5.) 29 May 2018 16:33:44
Why do you doubt it? Fabinho signed without his own mum, dad and wife knowing so do we expect to be tipped off about everything before it happens? Yes, if you want to alert the world to what you are doing. I reliable paper who has close to zero history of fake/ Twitter/ sensational stories posts and we dismiss it.

The guys here all do a good job but things do go on behind the scenes and for good reason.

Positivity please.

6.) 29 May 2018 17:58:07
You just want to keep your name ;)

: TRANSFER WINDOW NOW CLOSED.

Lets give the Eds a thumbs up for all the handwork and info they share. Its not easy putting up with us fans. Thanks ED'S!

kss

{Ed001's Note - cheers kss.}

1.) 09 Aug 2018 17:12:07
Big thumps up from me. By far the greatest website and second to none

Well done lads, if I could buy you a beer I would 👍🏾

Regards.

{Ed001's Note - you only say that because you know I don't drink!}

2.) 09 Aug 2018 17:20:06
ED001

That’s good to know cos my kids say I’m that tight I only breathe in 😉.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 17:21:23
How about a Ribena?

4.) 09 Aug 2018 18:06:05
Thanks Eds, do you see us signing Fekir in January?

18 Jul 2018 11:33:47
Hi Eds, IF we sign Alisson, im sure this would mean mignolet and ward leaving. Would we look to sign a third reserve keeper or would we promote from the youth.

kss

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say right now.}

1.) 18 Jul 2018 11:46:36
If it were me and any option was available, I think I keep ward as 2 and send Karius out in loan in the hope that he learns his trade a bit more and gets his confidence back so that either
1) can sell him for a decent fee (that plus migs could offset some of the enormous cost of Alisson)
or
2)if Madrid do come calling for Alisson in 2 years time (and we know that’s his preferred destination), Karius is in a position to come back and take the number 1 slot.

That said, I do think Ward deserves a crack at a career as a number 1 somewhere.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 11:52:19
Think Karius stays as 2nd choice for now. Migs will leave as expected and Alisson as undisputed 1st choice will just dishearten Ward who is still waiting to kick off his career.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 11:58:03
Ward go on loan, Karius stays and play some cups games and Bogdan as number 3.

4.) 18 Jul 2018 12:03:25
I've read somewhere (apologies, not sure where) that Ward is now happy to bide his time as No 2. If I were Karius, I would NOT want to stay in the UK as No 2.

So, my prediction - Ward stays as no 2, Migs departs on a permanent deal to Europe (Roma? Napoli? Fenerbache? ) and Karius goes on loan somewhere (possibly Germany) to rebuild his confidence and reputation.

Not ITK, just my gut feel.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 12:03:39
Thanks for the reply Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

6.) 18 Jul 2018 12:07:33
Thing is that if Courtois moves to Madrid, you can assume it will be for a fairly long period of time. I also believe madrid would move for De Gea before Alisson. I honestly wouldn’t be worrying about him jumping ship in a few years time if he signs, goalkeepers don’t move clubs very often.

7.) 18 Jul 2018 12:19:53
anyone want to guess how much we will get for Migs? I think we paid 8m for him. i reckon 12m is about his market value.

8.) 18 Jul 2018 12:21:29
Sell karius for a decent fee?

The very top end gks are in the 5o million.

Even if he was playing amazingly but we wanted a change or he wanted out, your looking st about 30 million.

We all know he's not playing to well, liverpool want to replace him. who on earth is spending good money on him?

9.) 18 Jul 2018 12:26:58
Indian, Why would Karius stay? Why would he want to stay after the treatment he and his family have received since May? In the event of Alisson signing I would imagine he would be on the phone with his agent going get me out of here immediately.

10.) 18 Jul 2018 12:30:16
I said that if he could go out on loan and rebuild his reputation then we might be able to get a decent fee. I don’t think that that’s an outlandish thing to say to be honest.

12 Jun 2018 14:57:17
Hi Eds,

Tried the search function but nothing came up..............

kss

{Ed002's Note - Random player - try the European pages.}

11 Jan 2018 15:40:33
Just in regards to the information macca gave earlier, is it possible that 2 players could come in? with one of them being Keita if a deal can be reached or would we just wait until the summer.

kss

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he has said - why not ask him? I have explained over and over what I know about Keita - maybe Macca can put me right but Liverpool has already significantly over paid for him.}

1.) 11 Jan 2018 16:44:56
How can you say significantly over paid for him? Look at salah, we have significantly under paid for him then, nobody thought he was as good as he's showing, let him kick a ball for us first please ed002! 😉.

{Ed002's Note - The amount of money paid for Nobby Keita is well over what anyone considers he is worth - and the level of grief that comes with him will certainly be making people at Liverpool wonder about him. He has on field issues and off field issues and often goes missing.}

2.) 11 Jan 2018 17:22:50
Within 1 year the amount we paid for him will appear small comparing to what other similar players would cost. Just read an article on Firmino which said we paid 21 million for him. I know Ed 02 says we actually paid much more for him than that with all the extras on top, but even so, it is an absolute snip in todays market, even if We actually paid closer to the 40 million mark he is still cheap.

The market has gone crazy. What would Salah be worth by the summer? The mind boggles. We paid a lot for young Nobby, but we have got a good deal for him I assure you.

{Ed002's Note - The article is wrong.}

3.) 11 Jan 2018 19:15:28
Saying that, if we got the deal of the century with Salah, Chelsea are running us close with how much they paid for Kante. A terrfific bit of business - exactly the type of player that we are missing IMO. Am not sure why more clubs weren’t interested - especially us!

{Ed025's Note - he was a steal nick..

4.) 11 Jan 2018 19:23:04
Absolutely agree with ED002 here.
We are already paying a premium for Keita so why pay more? Clutching at straws springs to mind.

5.) 11 Jan 2018 19:38:49
Keita is 22 years old. Last season he was the second best midfielder in Germany. Many top players used to get sent off early in their careers, some of the very best. Keane, Gerrard, Viera. So I don't worry at all about a player trying too hard.

I would pay £15m extra to bring him tomorrow we really need him and he needs us.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 20:38:04
I agree with Kate and ed002. I don’t see what the big deal is with him.

7.) 11 Jan 2018 21:24:37
Id rather be patient and put the £15 million somewhere we need it, like de vrij, akanji, or even thiago alcantara since ed002 has basically nailed on that he will be with us by the end of the window.

8.) 11 Jan 2018 22:44:12
I agree we should put it in my bank.

9.) 11 Jan 2018 22:58:05
When Keane went to United for just under 4 million, everyone said they overpaid. That turned out pretty well. If Keita brings success, then he'll be worth it and then some.
I'm not 100% convinced he's going to be world class yet, but he should not be judged until he's at least kicked a bloody ball in anger lol.

17 Dec 2017 14:11:10
Just read that David Luiz maybe available in January. What's people's thoughts if he was to join Liverpool?

kss

1.) 17 Dec 2017 14:19:24
Don’t fancy the costs involved.

2.) 17 Dec 2017 15:05:47
0% chance, juve and real want him and compete consistently for everything also we don't pay £200k+ a week so even if he was the best CB in the world (which he isn't) it's a non starter.

3.) 17 Dec 2017 17:19:43
Don’t think he’d suit us or solve the problems.

{Ed0333's Note - I think he’d solve some of out problems on his day he’s better than any of our center backs and he could shield the back four with ease.

Regardless of Fekir coming or not. I thought the Shaqiri deal was more a back up option than him playing a cam role and that we still wanted a "Coutinho" replacement. Has the situation now changed?
