Hello Eds and Reds.

Its good that we are connected to good managers to replace Rodgers. But there are few questions which keeps bugging me.
1)What happened in Klopp's Last season and why?
2)Klopp is a good manager but his team's tactics was it down to his no.2 Buvac? Is he tactically flexible?

Thanks.

indianscouser

{Ed002's Note - (1) It was down to a poor run of results with several players struggling to maintain the high pressure approach to training and playing. (2) They work as a team.}

Hello Eds and Reds.
Instead of looking for other candidates, we have a potential candidate within the club to promote. He is Pep Ljinders, it would be worth a try if we are unable to bring high profile manager.Ideally if we can get manager such as Bielsa or Ancelotti, it would be great for Pep, as he can get valuable experience. Then later we can hand over coaching reigns to Pep after few years. But right now Pep's CV is good & can be given a chance. His philosophy is really good and he is trying to envisage future football and incorporate it in his philosophy.

We need someone who will command the respect of the players. He's too young, he's not used to dealing with a room of spoilt milionaire players.
Next man in has a massive rebuilding job to do, it needs someone with more football/life experience.

2.) 25 Sep 2015 07:37:16
We need someone to steady the sinking ship, A ship worth 300 mill investement needs to sail across safe. Carlo would be a short term solution but there is hardly any better manager than him in world football.
Its been 6 years we had a decent name at the helm.
Playing in europe is a completely differnt ball game and who better than Carlo?

3.) 25 Sep 2015 08:21:19
Its not a totally out there idea, though he would be better working under someone such as Ancelotti for a few seasons and be groomed to take over the role.

4.) 25 Sep 2015 08:35:44
One thing to think about as well that with ancelotti at the post all of a sudden you have an extra instant pull of getting big name players in, A lot of people say we can't compete with the big teams financially but actually we spend just as much but we buy quantity rather than quality because we don't seem to have the pull to get them in - ancelotti has that pull

5.) 25 Sep 2015 09:46:02
I don't quite understand this idea of Ancelotti being a 'short term solution'.
He is only 56. The guy could go for another 10-15 years as a football manager. Who was the last manager that we had that had a term of 10 years? (Shankly?)

6.) 25 Sep 2015 14:22:34
Apprentices need NOT apply for the position

Hello Reds.

It is getting really painful to watch our team play.Few midtable teams have better GK than ours.I never saw Mignolet making any crucial saves in past few seasons.
Mignolet is not for top clubs and he is not a sweeper keeper. And Milner is not a Leader to inspire us,we are lacking players with passion.

Eds how can we perform insipidly when teams with less resources and with less good players are not only performing better but with substance?
Now it makes me question was this the same Rodgers who took us to 2nd place or he was lucky enough to have player like Suarez and was lucky that season

Ed002 who was suggested as alternative to Rodgers?

Thanks.

indianscouser

{Ed001's Note - our manager sets us up like himself, insipid.}

1.) 13 Sep 2015 05:46:30
When you have less people, The team picks itself. Simple.

2.) 13 Sep 2015 05:50:53
To be fair to Mingolet, while he isn't the best keeper going around, he has made some excellent saves for us the past few seasons.

{Ed001's Note - when? I have seen him make one excellent save in the hundred or so games I have watched him play. One. The saves he makes are ones you expect a keeper to make, not excellent, just good. He never makes the special saves.}

3.) 13 Sep 2015 06:52:00
I think that's the point Ed. He can almost always be counted on to make the good saves, occasionally a top save. Though I agree his distribution and perhaps his organizational skills are horrendous. I guess the command of the area is pretty average as well.

{Ed001's Note - but he can't, because most of the time he is missing flapping at crosses or dithering about whether to come out or not.}

4.) 13 Sep 2015 06:58:34
He makes normal saves look good.
I feel sorry for lad playing behind them two.
but look at young stones over the road ok the boy is special but so was llori.
Dier gets a new contract at spurs and we farm him out.
Three years ago llori was miles ahead of him.
So much for giving youth a chance.
I hope the lad goes on to shine and sakho moves on.
If you can get an chance with them two at the back you never will.
Good luck boys

5.) 13 Sep 2015 08:37:56
Harry it's not just about the personnel, it's about the way they are being played.Rogers has spent close to 300 million and still hasn't got to clue.in his own words if you spend 100 million you should be challenging for the title.we won't make top four with Rogers in charge

6.) 13 Sep 2015 09:56:15
Mignolet is shaky at best.

7.) 13 Sep 2015 13:52:45
EG, stop slating the players because they don't pick nor coach themselves. You are becoming embarrassing with such posts. Btw, the personel you speak of, who bought them? BR talked about what the players did wrong or right in his post match presser on the club website which is classic as in, nothing is ever his fault and you're beginning to sound like him so please, just stop because it's getting really old slating the wrong people.

Hello Eds.

Great work, the podcasts are really good.
Eds logically Son was not expected to leave Bayer04 since they are in champions league and it was mentioned that it would be difficult for us to sign him.
1.Was Son not one of the targets for us?
2.If he was, then how did we fail where Spurs succedded to bring him?

I am happy with Benteke but Son would be a more better fit and would have cost less.

Thanks

Except Arsenal and Chelsea other top 6 squads are equally good.Rodgers took some good decisions for this coming season in transfers&coaching staff. But he already undid some of his good work by agrreing to provide contract extension to both Skrtel and Toure. And he is continuing his trend by persisting with Lovren and Mignolet.

For next season to have a balanced squad he should not compromise this two things atleast against a good attacking team.
i)Lucas/Can is a must as CDM. ii)Sakho is our main CB.

indianscouser

1.) 26 Jul 2015 07:23:31
So far it is not looking good but I am optimistically hoping he would implement those two things when the season begins.

Also We have really good technical players each with their own abilities but we are lacking in our attacking play because:
i) our players don't seem to exploit the gaps or make the runs behind the defence.
ii)If they do any of these things then they are indecisive with their passes which is helping the opposing defence to settle.

Most important thing in our 2013/14 season was how we were attacking defences in a structured fashion, all our players were in the right position at the right time, when we stole the ball or when we were building the attacks.

So Rodgers should not make drastic changes to our formation. As Ed said tinker the tactics in a particular formation. And if needed he should not hesitate to bench the senior players and fill the personnel with youth players.

2.) 26 Jul 2015 08:22:44
There is no one in the world who is not LFC supporter who will agree that our squad is anything like that of City or United. Not even close.

Most people will find this suggestion laughable. City has a better player for every position on the pitch, some with big margins. United have better players for at leat 8-9 positions on the pitch. Both finished way above us in the table last year despite not having a great season in their own stanards. They both strengthened their squad considerably this summer. We sold the player that anyone who is not an LFC player would argue was one of our 2 best players, maybe our best (and most LFC fans thought the same until he started to say he wanted to leave).

We made some good signings bot most of them last year were not able to help their teams to finish with trophies or in the top 4-6 in the table (and Milner doesn't count here as he was a substitute and didn't have much impact on City's campaign) not did they score many goals (other than Benteke) or produced many assists.

With all my criticism of BR, our squad is just not strong enough. I doubt if even Klopp could have taken us to the top 4 though I would surely would like him to have a try.

It is true that sometimes (in addition to a magician manager) one player can change the fortunes of a whole team, as Suareaz did.So if Benteke starts scoring every time he touches the ball, than maybe something good can happen and then if one of the other top 4 has some crisis - say Aguaro is injured for most of the league, then we can maybe give City a fight. I cannot see this holding for 38 league games though.

3.) 26 Jul 2015 09:57:47
Fanobip please tell me other than goalkeeper's position ,in which position does United have better players?
Only thing is that Van Gaal is a better manager than Rodgers.
This squad would atleast qualify for champions league with managers such as Klopp and Emery.I am optimistically hoping that Brenda would do the same.

4.) 26 Jul 2015 10:08:41
Do you/anybody have a feeling Rodgers only has a so many games,I'm thinking 6-8 games and if we're not at the top or there abouts he'll get the boot ?

5.) 26 Jul 2015 10:43:40
I don't want to spend too much time praising United's talent as I am an LFC fan after all. I think their new signings and especially Depay and Schwiensteiger are very good signings. Rooney, Mata, Blind, De Gea obviously, Fellaini was maybe their best player last year. Valencia and Young are two high quality wingers (when they don't dive, especailly young), Herrera is a very decent player. and I also highly rate Di Maria still and quite shocked they may be willing to let him go although they would probably bring Pedro or someone else of that quality instead (like Wenger I am also shocked they let RVP go). I think all of the above are better than what we have to offer in these positions with the exception of Coutinho and maybe Benteke - though Benteke with us is still a mystery - and maybe Ibe.

6.) 26 Jul 2015 10:46:24
Indian

Morgan Schniederline.

7.) 26 Jul 2015 11:05:05
On paper United squad has players who won many titles, laurels. etc.Di maria,Basti are quality players I agree but their recent performances and injury woes doesn't make them better than our players.Lallana was expected to make a great impact but we all know how that turned out. Both our team and United have players of same quality in Midfield, stiking and wing positions.Memphis Depay is a great talent, but it is his first season, even when Raheem left to city with potential but not being a complete player. And we have exciting players in both Ibe and Markovic.

I felt the same thing but realised that a team is dangerous when they are confident and have clarity and cohesion on pitch, most importantly their faith in manager's ability. That is why United's performance changed under LVG.Had our players solely believed that it is the manager who is the greatest support than we would not have felt the loss of suarez so badly.

8.) 26 Jul 2015 11:30:41
You mention those players Fanobip but to me they are not all better options than ours. Young and Valencia? I'd rather cout/ Fir/ Lallana or Ibe.
Fellaini? I'd rather Henderson. Sure they have a few positions better but overall we are pretty even or we have better

9.) 26 Jul 2015 11:33:10
Blind only looks like decent backup and Valencia is done - he's been rubbish the past 2-3 seasons. He became useless as a winger a one trick pony and was moved to full back as he can at least stay fit. He's not a good full back.

If either of these were our players they would be slated here and we would be screaming to move them on.

Fellaini is a good Plan B.

10.) 26 Jul 2015 13:06:40
I think United have a better squad, more balanced than ours, but City's is definitely better than ours. Arsenal seem to be improving as a squad and a team, and two trophies in two seasons has definitely given them the confidence to perhaps finally push Chelsea and City (two best squads int he PL) this season.

11.) 26 Jul 2015 13:24:44
EG
Lucas leiva is as gooad as Schneiderlin, for United in this position (CDM) they have two players in Morgan and Carrick. So once again other than GK position Liverpool have first team players as good as United's .

12.) 26 Jul 2015 14:22:22
Indian

Wrong. Schnider is not a CDM, He is a CM who is equally good at defensive duties. He is a multi talented player very similar to Alonso. A playmaker in itself who is good in defending and breaking up.

13.) 26 Jul 2015 14:23:32
Indian

Herrera is similar to Henderson and will play the advance role with Carrick and Schnider occupying the midfield slot.

We should have got him instead of Milner.

14.) 26 Jul 2015 15:25:03
If Carrick and Schneider play Hererra won't

15.) 27 Jul 2015 09:58:33
Having a stronger squad is an advantage but thankfully not the only deciding factor. Momentum is a powerful force. If you can gel in your good games, win some ugly ones and flat out steal a couple early, you never know.

World class mate Benteke is very different from carroll please understand why by using your marbles. He has scored those kind of goals because that is how his team were playing. Its not his fault to score many headers. He goot good first touch, his passing is good, got good pace and ability to stretch the defence.Only thing he might be short off is his off the ball movement because his team never intend to put the ball in free
space behind the defence. His movement can be coached and improved and after missing out Bacca he is the only viable option. As for Balotelli he is totally uninteredted in the game.

Name few of them PJMC29.As for Rondon he could complete just 7 games in the whole season and is very inconsistent. So it will be a huge gamble to sign him.

EMS Bogdan has the same problems which mignolet has i.e he is very poor in passing .But good thing is he is a player who can pull of great saves. We need right goalkeeping coach and My opinion is we should also go for Gary Mcallister as assistant coach as He did really well in his time at Aston villa.

Mate did u see Arsenal,Utd,City attacking when they are in posession? How many overlapping runs did u see in today's game when Villa were very compact?
How many times did we have to see our wingbacks pass back the ball to the CM who inturn passed sideways with no option infront of them or when our wingbacks were trying to hopelessly put the ball into the box.Villa were happy to concede the posession even when they were 1-0 down.

Who do u think played Can in RCB position? And why did we concede our first goal? I agree that sometimes Goals conceded is down to pure individaul mistakes but whose fault it is in the first place to play such defenders?

OK Sakho was decent compared to others but great was an exagerration.

Some brilliant individual play. For most of the game we were flat.Rodgers once again got lucky,he chose wrong formation,Villa team were happy to give us posession as we were harmless and lacked penetration.Main problem is we lacked any movement,In between when milner was running into spaces it caused them real problems, the goals were pure individual brilliance,I don't think it requires any coach or setup to score such a goal.Rodgers once again played Can in RCB position,he struggles defensively. Our defence was shambles,Sakho was great except his heading which was awful. Our team is really under utilised. We don't have great defence but our attack is very dangerous. We have greater chances of winning games by scoring more goals than playing insipidly to stop goals.

Based on not played/played out of position/who won't cut it I agree with the list. But in that list there is only one player who can help is in getting back to top 4,that player is Sakho.
Also we can add Markovic to the above list.

But as Eds mentioned Rodger's simply doesn't evaluate his transfer targets before signing them.He is like a small kid with money who buys random candies without checking its taste, then throws away the candies which he doesn't like.

EG.

Our Squad is not completely balanced as u have been saying about this all these times. There is a difference between challenging for a title and ability to challenge for a title. As I mentioned earlier if players in key positions such as Mignolet and Can can perform really well, then yes we do have a chance. But when it comes to Cech and Courtois they have been performing like that consistently so these teams are title contenders. Also If Rodgers can outsmart other top 6 managers tactically then we have a chance. So we have many ifs which we don't know, whereas we all know the genuine quality of Arsenal and Chelsea and their respective coaches.
Also the point which u have raised I have mentioned this when we were signing Milner. But since we signed him,it will be better if we stop bringing in anymore midfielders.

Thanks.
