Hello Eds and Reds
I think many of posters fully agree based on information you gave us Ed001, Brandon must leave. You mentioned a lot of cons but are there any pros? I just want to be fair and I really would like to understand the reasons to consider him as our coach for next season. Probably paying out money to leave for him and his team is something owners should take into consideration and see as a block. Also it looks like a very difficult situation now in the team and I don't think we look as an attractive club for many coaches (or players). So to find good replacement in management or squad will be very difficult with few options. I would like to see Klopp as our coach but don't see reason to go for him just for 1 season. If he leaves it would be only again a sign of our fall and inability to keep best players or managers. Another frustration next year. Many see Sterling as an overrated young boy. I think he showed quality and potential previous season, this season was whole team bad, not only one player. Football is not tennis, game about one player. You need a team and support. You win together and lose together. There is no player better than the team. Even Messi wouldn't be Messi without other players. If we lose Sterling, it is very bad sign and example for our other key young players in the future like Coutinho. This team has very big potential, we must try to keep the key players. We don't need many changes in my opinion. Maybe we should start with looking for the right manager. Maybe in St. Etienne is the one. So Quo vadis Liverpool? Hard days for our red family, but this moments will filter true fans and don't forget - YNWA. Sorry for my English, hope you understand.

{Ed001's Note - pros are his coaching, players are improving their technique under him. I am really struggling to think of another pro, though I guess you could include his willingness to explore new ideas tactically, even if it doesn't always work out. Not sure I can come up with anything else off the top of my head, maybe someone else can think of something, other than nice teeth and tan.}

Hes a great role model for people who would like to loose weight.

Eomer you could also say on the other hand if he does stay and get say 120k which would be more than the future captain; it also sets a bad president as every young player coming through will demand stupid wages.

Big summer ahead and everyone is on egg shells as nobody trusts anyone within the club that's the biggest problem.
If it was Fergie at united for example the player would be gone and replacements brought in or promoted to continue success. At this stage its a massive concern as people think we will end up with sub parr replacements and i can understand why.

Hopefully this year we get it right at the club or at least most of it.

2.) 19 May 2015 16:19:50
Maybe because all the playing staff (sterling excluded) think he is doing a good job compared to what we had before he came.Also they all say he is the best manager concerning the potential of the academy players.They can't all be wrong and the armchair critics on here right

{Ed001's Note - you do realise that they are contractually obligated to say these things publicly right? Or perhaps that also escaped your notice as you are so busy being dazzled by Brendan's teeth....}

3.) 19 May 2015 17:28:02
So if that's the case we can expect Gerrard to stick the knife in any time soon?

{Ed001's Note - personally I would not expect that as he hopes to come back and work at the club in the future. He will not want to burn bridges.}

4.) 19 May 2015 18:17:00
Red64 i don't have an armchair, i'm usually lying in bed when i post my criticism. Btw were still allowed to do that on a banter site are'nt we?

5.) 19 May 2015 18:52:43
Would that be the same academy players that have never seen the Anfield pitch under his watch except the ones he is forced to play due to injuries or FSG`s order (Ibe) or are there other academies within the club we don`t know about? Also, if they think he is doing a good job as you baselessly claim, why are most of the key players like Lucas, Suso, Raheem, and Sahko as well as Agger before them were being alienated from the team, ready to leave and now there is severe unrest in the DR? Care to answer that, Red since 64 or are you going to make up your usual excuses or opinions and call them facts in a desperate bid to show why he should be kept?

Great result and excellent performance especially in midfield. That was the difference in the match. But what makes me a little bit nervous is our final phase and finishing. I am missing final pass on striker like Aguero did to Dzeko yesterday. And it is very often to see in our game, we can make offensive pressure on opponent but the final phase in finishing is poor. We score very often with midfielders. Except Sturridge we usually don't use typical forward and play wingers instead strikers sitting on the bench. Our defense was not under big pressure but when Aguero had a ball he was very dangerous and our defenders had big problems with him. I was also very happy with the pressing and team performance. There is still long way to go and so we should still concentrate on top 4, be realistic and stop dreaming about second position. The start of season was horrible for us and cost us better position. Lets see what happened with our fans here. Tomorrow there will be probably one of the most important match of this season for us and instead talking about the match, the discussion here is all about Ballotelli. Instead togetherness of fans I see only two antipoles and row about the penalty. This guy has enormous talent for making situation like this. Eds, do you expect problems (or do you have already any info) in our dressing room, could have this situation any impact on the players, creating groups.? Thanks

eomer

{Ed002's Note - I am done with the subject of Balotelli for a while. I have explained the situation as I understand it to be from someone close to the player. I have no interest in tittle tattle.}

1.) 21 Feb 2015 19:37:28
I'd certainly hope that this doesn't cause much disruption to the squad. Can't see much of a group forming in marios defence either, always seems like he enjoys playing the outsider part. He's never going to play 90 minutes either by the looks of it anyway. Probably banished from the squad for another few weeks!

2.) 21 Feb 2015 20:26:10
I don't see the problem with it all. He scored, we won. Balo is a world class penalty taker why in the hell would Hendo or Sturridge take it when he's on?

3.) 22 Feb 2015 07:18:17
Ballo is just proving how wrong Rodgers was.

Hello Eds and Reds
I would like to thank to ALL Eds for their work and great site and now I don't mean only 001 or 002 who give us great answers and opinions but also the other Eds who are not seen so well - who care about us with editing the posts, developing page. Maybe they are often a little bit forgotten by us. Also big thank to many posters, some of them write very often and regular, some of them play it more on quality than quantity of posts. I may not agree with all your comments but u r often explaining with objective reasons which is what comments should be about, instead of random hate or trolling. It also makes me try to look on things from other perspective and other point of view which is great. You ALL make this site so great.
If you don't wish to read some pesimistic post, please stop reading now. Sorry but I have a need to write a few points and opinions that bother me a little bit.
We lost top goalscorer in the league, that is fact and there is not available real replacement on the market for us right now. We should look into our squad to replace him. Many players were in shadow of Suarez last season, I believe they have now great opportunity to show their potential, especially Sterling can shine and develop into great player in next few seasons. He could be our replacement for Suarez.
We can not attract top players, one good season is nice but still not enough. We need to establish our position in next few years in top 4. Then we can expect players with higher caliber.
I think there is also a lack of experience with Champions League or big games in our squad. I would go on the transfer market for more experienced players, but just my opinion. If we really sell players like Agger, Skrtel, Lucas. there will be too many young players in the squad, it should be balanced.
As already mentioned by Eds the current financial situation and financial rules are threat for us.
To be honest I really don't understand some signings we made this year. Too many young lads. I would give more opportunities to our players from academy (Ibe, Teixera, Suso. ) Don't take me wrong, I will support all players in our shirt, just think it is not very fair to our academy and young players. Also Borini - he did really well last season on loan. It is not best message we sent to our players, it looks like - doesn't matter how well you play in academy/on loan, we will sell you and go for another target.
Too many new signings, maybe problem for squad harmony. I would be fine with 4 top quality and experienced signings - LB, CB, Winger and Striker (but as I already mentioned, we are not in position to go for the players I would like to see in our shirt) and give more chances to players from academy.
Maybe the post looks pesimistic but this are only points which bother me. There are also many good things we made and we should built on it. I believe we can be really good in the future, this season I expect though fight for top 4, that would be really great. Again sorry for my English.

Hello Eds and posters
I would like to know your opinion on our transfer market strategy with young players. It is nice to see young lads with potential in our squad but is it really necessery to buy players from other teams when we already have some potential stars in our academy? No doubt Can, Origi or Markovic are players with bright future. But honestly, I would like to see more players from our academy in our first team with more time on the pitch next season like Ibe, Teixera, Suso (I would like to keep him but I know he wants out), Wisdom. Flanno and Reheem are great examples for them. We could save the money on stadium and strategic projects so we could be maybe more interesting destination for higher caliber players like Sanchez. i'm not calling for world class signings. I would like to built the team on players from our academy with few top quality signings around them in the future. They should be only missing pieces in the puzzle. History shows that top quality teams were often built on players from their academy - Barca, ManU, Ajax. I know it is very risky and you need a lot of patience as there is often problem for the young lads when they start to play with older (we can mention our Pacheco, Nemeth. ) What is your opinion on our academy, players and transfer policy? I believe in good and respectful discussion. Thanks for your replies and opinions. And again sorry for my english.

I would love to see Skriniar in Liverpool but that's not going to happen.

eomer

{Ed002's Note - it would be a good deal, much is expected of him and I have no doubt that Dinsdale McS could have a word to tell him about the club.}

I know nothing about interest of Inter Milan in Lucas but I expect signing Internazionale Ondrej Duda from Legia Warszawa as replacement for one of KovacevicHernanes.

No, he didn't sign it yet. He is on holiday. The information that he signed was based on fake facebook account but it is not true. Inter Milan was interested in him. But the expectation is he will stay in Liverpool. YNWA

Well, I thought Lubos Michel works as head of the international competitions department in Donetsk, not DoF. He looks good in diplomacy, don't know much about his management skills. Why do you think Ed it would be good partnership MichelRodgers? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - I answered the question - I am not going to get in to rationalising.}

Not sure whether simple statistic model like logictic regression will give you an answer in your predictions, seems to be more complex econometry problem, but good luck.

Thanks Ed, I understand your point. So we will wait and see. But I am also satisied that you see his current work as good job done. I think academy is one of the most important factor of successfull club and I would not like to lose it in Liverpool. The other problem is the loan system of our youngsters but I believe we will improve in this area as well. YNWA.

eomer

{Ed001's Note - that is the big weakness, our loans. We have made a complete mess of those so far.}

Hello Ed
I would like to ask about Axel Ingelthorpe. He has been two years in Liverpool as Academy Director, so it is enough time to judge. I really liked Borell, we see fruits of his work today in many players mentioned above. Do you think Axel improved something in our academy, can we expect similar quality players in the future? Thaks for your reply.

eomer

{Ed001's Note - Alex has been there two years, you are right, but you are wrong in that it is not enough time to judge. It takes about ten years for the full effect of a change in an academy to really show itself. So far he seems to be doing well, but it will be a while before we know how well and if things are improving, which they seem to be, or not.}

Dont take me wrong but I don't understand this signing. Is he a backup for Henderson? I would play more Lucas and Can in midfield and give a chance for players from academy.
