rumours all around the internet that we've agreed a loan for tello and a fee for sydney sam. won't believe it until they actually sign. but can anyone confirm if we're close?

elnino09

1.) Won't be happening mate just media rubbish

hey eds. which players will likely leave (permanent/loan) in the upcoming window? and are we interested in pastore/cabaye/reges/gonalons?
thanks a lot
#YNWA {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts and try the search function man. Off the top of my head - Sterling will likely go out on loan; Ilori might go on loan; there may well be offers for Coutinho and Suarez. There is no confirmed Liverpool interest in those players at this time.}

are we looking at shaqiri and/or guidetti? were we interested in either of them in the summer?
thanks eds {Ed002's Note - (a) No. (b) I expect that Guidetti will be allowed to leave with interest remaining from both long term suitors Borussia Monchengladbach and Trabzonspor as well as Liverpool.}

elnino09

1.) Ed002, obviously Liverpool has the ability to buy Guidetti and match the offers made by Borrusia Monchengladbach and Trabzonspor. However, do you think Guidetti would be interested in moving to Liverpool or leaving the Premier League? {Ed002's Note - I imagine he will want commitments about playing time - and I think that will be tough for Liverpool to do. Sitting on the bench in Liverpool will not benefit him at all.}

hey eds
how is it that vitesse are allowed to loan so many players from chelsea? I remember you mentioning some limitations of loaning players.

#nice work. #great site
cheers {Ed002's Note - Vitesse are not subject to EPL rules.}

elnino09

1.) Chelsea signed no players on deadline day due to loaning their fax machine to Vitesse for the rest of the season.

2.) As I recall, Chelsea has something like 24 players out on loan and I see it as a very shrewd move on the part of Chelsea. Moving forward with FFP getting additional revenue to cover potential acquisitions will be difficult, but buying promising youngsters and loaning them out has several advantages, not the least of which is it doesn't cost much and if they turn out to be great, then you can add them to the squad (e.g. de Bruyne), if they're just 'good' then you can probably sell at a decent profit, and if it doesn't work out no big deal as they didn't cost the world to begin with.

remind me again why liverpool pulled out of the fekir deal?

elnino09

1.) 19 Sep 2018 21:16:52
You can see why klopp was desperate to sign him tearing city to shreds.

2.) 19 Sep 2018 23:49:42
Do u think we would still go back and would he still have same desire too come as we messed him about bigtime, I was gutted when we never got him in summer and gutted now as he will probably get snapped up by someone else in premiership.

3.) 20 Sep 2018 05:57:24
His knees were not medically compliant. 60 million pounds and he won't be starting ahead of either mane or salah and we don't play with an attacking mid. made sense to buy shaqiri and we did.

4.) 20 Sep 2018 08:24:22
Yeah he's a player that would've been the icing on the cake for our squad but not one that we really need. His knee made the deal too risky and looking at our set up at the moment it's hard to see where he'd even have fit in so far. I like him a lot as a player and it was fun to watch him do that to city, but it was the right call not to sign him and hailstones we did not mess him around. The deal was advancing until a problem emerged from his medical and a decision was made. It happens. I think you can forget about Fekir, but perhaps we'll find another creative left footed mid somewhere along the line. That Kai Havertz kid looks promising.

{Ed002's Note - It was over money.}

I'm surprised by all the negativity among fans despite our current form. Yes we were terrible in the first 6 months, and Rodgers was stubborn not to change his formations quick. But he's a young manager and this is a young team, they're all learning. If anyone was expecting a title challenge this season I call you naive. Without Suarez we would never be able to mount a challenge this season. Even Rafa, despite his experience, was stubborn at times, and so are a lot of other managers. You'd be happy to have LVG like most mancs, but is he better than Rodgers? LVG spent excessively on so called world class, proven talents. yet, even without added pressure of CL and with such a squad united aren't paying well, let alone challenge for the title. Would you rather have us play like Chelsea? yes they're top of the league, but I know that most Liverpool fans would want to be top of the league by playing good football rather than theirs. And city spent heavily but it took years for their squad to gel.
I know we've overpaid for some of the players we bought, but none of them are actual flops, even though they haven't justified their price tag completely. This is a young squad who are performing well, instead of encouraging them we find minor reasons to berate them. We call chelsea fans plastics, but we are behaving worse than them. Our behaviour will surely influence the owners in making their decision about BR. At this time, I really hope we don't go through another change in management. That will only make matters worse. Insulting your own team, or crying campaign against the refs ain't going to help the team.

elnino09

1.) 24 Feb 2015 07:17:40
Why would changing managers make matters worse? Strange assumption with no basis really.

2.) 24 Feb 2015 08:21:25
It's not a one off though. He did exactly the same last season.

3.) 24 Feb 2015 09:06:58
If Rodgers starts next season playing the way we are now, then I see no problem with him staying.

If Rodgers wants to start next season playing the way we have started for the past 2 seasons (his favoured way) then he's got to go.

4.) 24 Feb 2015 09:40:50
Just going out on a limb here - and this is by no means putting any blame on Gerrard - I think most Liverpool supporters and probably also the players would have been more than happy to play like Chelsea and win a title had we known in September this would be Gerrard's last session in red.

5.) 24 Feb 2015 12:59:20
The negativity is only being brought to the fore because of all the superfans on here who just spout mindless drivel about supporting the club and how they've always loved rodgers and how the whole team is world class and absolutely nothing is wrong - without actually using their brains and in several instances actually having a go at people for having anything other than 110% optimism. So yes many of us who try to have thought out, balanced arguments are inclined to post some negativity to counteract the childish antics of some posters. We rather we wouldn't have to but still.

6.) 25 Feb 2015 01:44:25
You post some sense there, Wooly! A balanced approach has to be used in order to have an honest debate about BR`s future and people willfuly ignoring his blunders in the name of "positivity" is just dishonest and prevents this debate from happening.

02 Jul 2014 19:59:02
if sanchez doesn't wanna come to Liverpool, maybe we could try for pedro?

elnino09

{Ed001's Note - I sincerely hope not.}

1.) I'm with you there ed, I was worried that barca would sell Sanchez to arsenal then try and lower the suarez fee by palming Pedro off on us. If there's no Sanchez then we should just accept cash in my opinion.

2.) Barcelona have 5 players I'd want at Liverpool. Alba, Pique, Alves, Iniesta, Sanchez. I wouldn't even touch Messi or Neymar. So unless we have a serious chance of the other 4 I'd say straight cash and then use it to sign somebody else like Lavezzi or Reus.

3.) 02 Jul 2014 20:14:59
You not impressed with him Ed?

{Ed001's Note - not in the slightest. Average player.}

4.) 02 Jul 2014 21:02:45
Pedro is a class player ed,ask anyone who supports barca. I live in spain and have talked atblength with the spanish about him and have watchedvhim play a lot and he is seriously underated, he is a game changer and a scorer. We would be very lucky to get him.

{Ed001's Note - I have watched him, he is average, just quick. Game changing is irrelevant in such a weak league, unless you can do it against Atletico, Athletic or Real Madrid, and he can't. I really don't care what you have heard from a few Barca fans, fans are biased.}

5.) So glad somebody else thinks the same, i've never understood the hype around Pedro at all. Seems to me that Barca players, irrespective of ability, get mad hype just for playing for Barca. Remember Dos Santos being given huge hype, Bojan given huge hype, that Cuenca given huge hype - reality is they've done nothing once they left. Pedro is in the same mould - really hope we don't accept a deal with him involved.

6.) I'm with you ed001.
And he dives and he is totally unsuited for the premiership in my opinion because he is not strong enough.
Now I have said that, when he signs tomorrow I will tell you all he's Pele:)

7.) Well ed, I hope you will hold your hand up and admit to being wrong if he does sign. In my opinion he is outstanding, if it wasnt for the quality of iniesta and xavi he would be considered a superstar. If he comes out of their shadow he could be superb. Agree to disagree on this one.

{Ed001's Note - no, I will admit to being wrong if he plays like an outstanding player. If it wasn't for Xavi and Iniesta he would be considered useless, it is their service that gets him goals.}

8.) So EMS you wouldn't touch Messi or Neymar but you would stick with Lambert and Borini, really?

9.) A lot of Barca players are flat out average it`s nauseating. Pique, Pedro, Busquets just to mention a few. They play in a weak league where everybody is scared to face them toe to toe. Pedro, Cesc all these guys can`t hack it in the say Prem league because the other clubs will give you a game an you`ll have to earn the right to play. In Spain, they just show up as lambs for slaughter. Dare I say becos of this, I will NEVER think that Messi is the greatest player ever because he plays in a league where there is little to no competition and is yet to prove himself in other leagues just like the greats of yesteryear like Zidane, Van Basten, Ronaldo (the Greatest CF ever IMO), Maradona, and on and on and on, who had to prove themselves in multiple countries and leagues to prove they could hack it anywhere on the planet.

10.) I wouldn't touch Messi or Neymar because one is a cheat and the other is a bully. Lambert and Borini are hardworking team players. Jesus, I've only suggested we give them a chance as squad players to try and break into the starting line-up. It's not like I'm suggesting we go into next season with them as our only two recognised attackers!

Why are people on here so against giving players who want to play for the shirt a chance? Borini and Lambert are both very talented and even nore dedicated. Just let them have a chance!

11.) Ems that is a horrible shout, no messi or neymar! They might be overhyped, but they are world class, even if you might not think they are as good as some say. Messi's in the top 3 in the world if not the best.

12.) 02 Jul 2014 23:32:58
Downing could look like a world class player with Xavi and Iniesta creating the chances. They've been propping up Messi for the past half decade. Don't get me wrong, Messi is a world class player, but Ronaldo is the best player in the world. Xavi and Iniesta pretty much won Spain past few titles, they're artists in their own right and I doubt we will see a midfield duo like them for a while; maybe Pogba and Vidal, although slightly more individual than Xavi-Iniesta, both are up their with the worlds best and learning with from the best passer in the game period, however that relationship will more than likely end this summer.

13.) Never heard of Pedro.

{Ed001's Note - he is the guy that most English women have a fling with while on a foreign holiday.}

14.) EMS, I'm not against giving players who want to play for the shirt a chance, far from it, I just think it's weird what you said about wouldn't touch Messi or Neymar and then to go on and say one is a bully and the other a cheat, so did you stop supporting Suarez the FIRST time he dived/cheated?

its funny how the evertonian banter page has them complaining about their lack of squad depth leading to last night's result. they have a thicker squad than ours and we still beat them 4-0. what a performance! YNWA!

elnino09

1.) I wouldn't go as far as saying they have a thicker squad than us, you look at their striking options and after lukaku its pure mediocraty. I think i'd take aspas over naismith and in terms of defence even with our first choice back 4 out injured it was still miles better than there's tonight

2.) They were running their mouths b4 the derby and how they ould give us the business. Now, they`re getting their excuses in. That small club mentality always comes from the top.

3.) Funny that. Martinez not three weeks ago was extolling the quality and depth of the squad he had at his disposal. move on three weeks and he spends the whole interview saying the opposite!

Bless!

4.) Guess he`s trying to have it both ways as usual. Must have learnt that from the Whinger in Chief, Wenger.

Hey let's move on from this. remember wenger met suarez's release clause and he was willing to go, our owners blocked that move. its in the past now. besides, we needed a midfielder more than a winger. didn't get both, a bad window but we still can make the top 4. YNWA

'Early reports out of Ukraine say Liverpool's move for Yevhen Konoplyanka could falter as the player is 'unsure' about making such a move now despite 'being excited' by the interest.
'The Dnipro winger has a £15million release clause but has turned down Zenit and Juventus also in recent months.'

But that would end milan's interest in fernando right?

elnino09

{Ed002's Note - Napoli, Inter and Fiorentina were the Italain clubs with an interest.

karius hasn't played well, but he is certainly better than mignolet. his distribution is so much better, we just need to give him time.

So you want the type of players that chelsea sign? the big name players. or the ones that spurs signed? did either of them win anything last season?

That would be selfish though. he's been great for us and deserves to play in the world cup. he'd be gutted if he missed out. hope he recovers in time

We ain't going to spend 100 million bruv. we're not going to do another spuds. I doubt toure will leave, and you won't find a more experienced back-up player than him. borini has been impressive and should be given a chance. I think kelly and wisdom will stay, especially the latter, or only leave on loan. rest need to go
