As the rage from yesterday is finally starting to subside, wanted to thank everyone associated with the site As its been a joy to read and learn so much stuff to do with liverpool and football in general.
A quick question for ed002, as a non-liverpool fan what's your opinion on the whole sterling saga? Stay or go? Depending on who is the manager?

{Ed002's Note - With the other issues I suspect that the club are getting pretty sick of him at this time. Typically clubs don't like this sort of thing happening and they certainly don't like it happening in the public domain - sadly Rodgers is happy to air all of the in house issues with anyone who will listen. His agent and another representative have been trying to gauge interest from other clubs. Regardless, it needs resolving this summer. He is toxic and I would get him out as fast as possible.}

Ed002 why are you so down on Rodgers? Everyone on here seems to be extremely harsh on a guy who is in his first big job, managing big players and egos. That was the owners choice who to manage us, so we should back him on all mediums, shouldn't we.

There was a comment that Sterling would stay for a different manager but I do not know or care if that is so.Sell him for the right price and sign someone who is more interested in playing for LFC than his own ego.
Personally I think the sooner Rodgers is gone the better for the club. He has proved to be tactically inept this season and the team simply do not look like a team at all. His team selection has often been very suspect and he makes some ridiculous statements.
Sadly the strong rumour is that he stays.

We needed a centre back even Stevie Wonder could see that. As for spending for the sake of it the club and Klopp knew the chances of getting VVD were as good as nil. There was lots of time between the clubs apology and now to identify someone else.

To change the subject a little about our recent mishaps.
If you could only sign 1 player this window who would it be and why?

Personally id have to go with mendy as i think Lb is ouf weakest position (so is Rb but have to make a choice ) and it looks like he's the best of the few who are available atm.

Definitely Mendy.
Of course we have lack of options at LW, RB and CB but we also have players in those positions that can play consistently and are not exactly bang average. At LB, we have a right footed 31 year old and a Spaniard that Klopp doe snot fancy at all. Its the priority position for this summer.
LW can be covered by Markovic and Ojo if needed.
Lovren and Gomez can fight for the 2nd CB position.
TAA can be promoted to first choice RB with Clyne as deputy.

Ok I know I'll probably get called a nutter but I still think VVD is the one guy I'd sign. we are crying out for a CB, to think of how many points we dropped through defensive mistakes or corners not being cleared etc. yes I know I'm dreaming again.

Mendy. LB has been a priority for what? Three windows? I like Milner, but Mendy is the best out there and we need to start crossing off each position with the best we can.
We score plenty, so goals and creativity are ok. Mignolet has improved and let's see KArius in his second season. Central Midfield is good too. Hendo and Gini are the established quality, Can the upcoming and Ejaria, the potential.
If by Jan TAA or Milner haven't nailed RB or Matip hasn't gelled with Lovren or Gomez, we target RB or CB. Get the best available.
ONE BY ONE, build from the back. Solid defence will help an improving good quality keeper which we have. If we can afford to buy two of the best for two problem positions or where improvement is required great. But rather one the best, then two pretty good cheaper options, done that - not got where we want to be.

I think so too, ( mendy) signing him would add defensively and going forward. Moving Milner across to RB upgrades that position from Clyne so we solve to a degree two issues. Milner can deliver good crosses on the run and has the energy to get back and defend.

In an ideal world who would you like us to sign? Im sure a LB is top priority but who would you like?
Personally even tho i feel VVD isn't first priority for us, i think he is still a step up from what we currently have at CB both in passing and aerial power, if he can actually lead from the back and organise that back line then even better.
I feel that salah, VVD, a LB (or 2) and a good RB would be good enough this summer, assuming we don't have unexpected outs.
I haven't even seen Mendy play this season so i can't judge, but im hoping every1 here complaining we've missed another major target are not judging him from youtube compilations and have actually seen him play. Honestly, after last summer with the Wijnaldum saga im more than happy to give Klopp the benefit of bringing anyone he wants.

On the Cardiff note, did you notice the state of the pitch? How dry and rough it looked we coudnt place a single straight pass the ball was fumbling all over the place.

again top scorers last season. why not just fix the defence instead of meddling with an attack proven to work just so we can say we have a superstar striker in the team.
