I think the criticism of BR is harsh., I feel its more down to the fact we have not been able to move on some of the fringe players eg. Johnson, Enrique, Borini and Agger that our promising youngsters have not been given more of a chance. You also can't really expect him to go into such an important season like this and play all of the youngsters straight away, don't get me wrong I would love nothing more than to see players llike Ibe and Suso get a chance but unfortunately that's not going to be the case this year, although I suspect Rodgers to bleed in a few youth players into the squad throughout the season probably Lloyd Jones, Rossiter and could even give Canos a few games in the cups

Very good draw in my opinion, nice to get real madrid as it is a good test for us and will be nice to have a big European night at Anfield again! Other two are probably the best we could have hoped for which is good and at least there are no big mid week trips to russia or ukraine!

Now I know its probably all made up paper talk but. I really hope we aren't going to go for Mauro Icardi especially for the price that is been thrown around, looking at his scoring stats they're awfully similar to Borini' at the same age when he was in the Serie A. I know its obviously stupid to compare the two as I haven't really seen a lot of Icardi but I just think that for 20 odd million what's the point when we already have Borini who could arguably be more effective right away? Anyway rant over haha, would like to here some of your views on the potential Icardi move.

1.) I thought the exact same thing, he is nothing we don't have already in borini, just a fancy sounding name and people get excited.

Haven't posted in a year or so but still read the site daily, felt the need though to ask some of yous about the idea of signing Balotelli. I think its abit silly to say he's a target just because Brendan has praised him but I honestly think he would be a quality signing I mean look at the likes of Suarez, Zlatan and Cantona they all had abit of unpredictability about them, so for 14-20m I think its a risk worth taking considering his age and resale value even if he is a flop. anyway back to the point what is the rest of your views?

1.) Well I didn't even see the guy run today, so how will he fit our system? At least Lambert tries when playing.
If we do get an attacker, it needs to be someone versatile for the wings as well as a striker.
Lets sort the full backs out first though.

2.) Suarez, Zlatan and Cantona were/are not lazy apathetic players. They might be a bit nuts in their own way but you couldn't really accuse them of not caring. Balotelli just doesn't work hard enough in my opinion and for the system we play that simply isn't acceptable.

3.) I've got a great idea for a business mate. I'm a bit prone to not turning up and might even get arrested for doing something a bit mental but it's only 14 million pounds after all and if it doesn't work out I'll definitely pay you back some of that money. Fancy backing it??

4.) There are many, many others I'd much rather have. Volland, Son, Lacazette, Bony, Okazaki, etc, etc.

5.) Balotelli is a small gamble but you no what happens when class players come to Anfield and feel the passion. They become world class! We have the best man manager in the league in Brenden who would get him to the next level for sure.

6.) 03 Aug 2014 10:14:18
Regardless of what I think of Balotelli as a player, his troubling past + vices outweigh his talent/skill. With having so many young lads at the club you absolutely can NOT allow risking having Balotelli mixing in with them and turning the grapes sour. Outside Stevie, the club lacks true senior leadership to deal with his potential tirades atm.

Being Northern Irish and having played against and spoke to the lad before I'm all for Mclaughlin getting a chance but don't yous think the people who make these decisions at our club know what they're doing? Anyway from what I've heard from some people apparently they're convinced that the club are going to convert him back into a winger

How can use argue about people like morgan and coady not getting a chance? They were nowhere near good enough for us especially morgan. he can't even cut it in the lower leagues!

Rob Jones, what a quality right back, he could teach Glen Johnson a thing or two about defending! Him, Babbel and Riise would have been quality in our current squad!

Can't see Reus coming but I think he could handle the central striker role fairly easily. he played there for Mönchengladbach.

I'd imagine it'd be skrtel if he plays
