Hi Ed's.
Did we or have we ever had any interest in Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle. Seen him play about 10 times this season and looks fairly steady and could be a good signing if we get rid of Lovren, Klavan or Matip and could be a good partner along side VVD if we don't want to pay a fortune, probably a 35-40 million pound payer.

{Ed001's Note - when he was at Forest we did. You obviously haven't watched him that closely or you would see why he is at Newcastle and everyone else dropped interest. He makes mistake after mistake after mistake. People seem to forget that he made the mistake leading to a chance after he throws his body in the way of a shot that should never have been allowed in the first place. He makes Lovren seem reliable.}

1.) 01 Apr 2018 06:02:56
ed have we looked at Matthijs de Ligt at all looks like he is going to be a star for years to come, and he might like to link up with VVD at club level.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he has been watched a few times.}

2.) 01 Apr 2018 10:34:12
Sorry ed1 but he's just a random player apparently. So don't hold your breathe.

{Ed001's Note - I never said we were moving for him. I said we have watched him. I have also pointed that I don't expect us to buy any centre backs this summer, including De Ligt.}

3.) 01 Apr 2018 16:28:40
I was basing my opinion on 10 games not 1 Ed001, but thanks for your opinion and reply any way.

{Ed001's Note - and I was talking about over the course of his career, it is why the scouts all watched him but no one went for him other than Newcastle.}

4.) 01 Apr 2018 21:20:46
If we are going to chase any English defender it should be Ben Mee in my opinion.

5.) 02 Apr 2018 12:50:40
We need to get ideally a CB a GK and CDM this summer. Worst case we need to get a CB and CDM.

6.) 02 Apr 2018 13:13:52
De ligt is also being looked at by numberous top European clubs ie Barcelona etc.

7.) 02 Apr 2018 19:34:48
I think Ben Mee is a good defender too nostra. Not flashy anywhere but a decent player no less.

11 Jan 2018 16:20:22
Talk of Grujic going to Huddersfield. Any truth to this Ed's? Think it would help the lad out in his development as Wagner plays a similar style to Klopp.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, and as has been explained he really needs to stay in England.}

1.) 11 Jan 2018 16:53:01
Good move, hope he does well.

2.) 11 Jan 2018 17:21:00
Shame. Every time I've seen him play he's impressed me. Really hope he gets back on track with this loan. With Coutinho leaving, Henderson injure and Can on his way out, now would be a great time for him to break his way into the team.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 18:13:18
Surely now would be a great time for him to get some regular first team premier league football in preparation to try to break into our team next season. I think it would be a great move for both him (for his development and experience) and the club.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 18:40:35
Perfect move for the lad! Hopefully if can hold down a place and impress could be like a new signing for next year. Just needs opportunity to prove himself, then perform and he will earn his opportunity.

{Ed002's Note - He has to play regularly or he will be gone in the summer.}

5.) 11 Jan 2018 21:28:39
Great move for the lad! I hope he applies himself and earn a future in England.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 21:58:07
Very good move with a great coach, Wagner will give him a chance and he should progress.

7.) 11 Jan 2018 22:40:01
He's best moving on, we don't want another Markovic situation on our hands, Markovich deserved better treatment then he got here, it's damaged his career and I fear for Grujic should he stay at Liverpool because I think it's safe to say he won't get his chance with us and he deserves to, he has great potential. Does it look like Markovich will be moving on in this window?

8.) 12 Jan 2018 07:03:30
Not trying to go too deep into the politics of the situation, but aren't Serbia about to join the EU meaning he won't require a WP soon.

It was planned that they'd join before 2019 if memory serves, but not sure if this has updated since.

I'm a bit behind on EU stuff these days, have far more of a grasp on South American countries and UK related WP work regulations, so apologies if wrong on that.

{Ed002's Note - Serbia is a canditate, the UK is backing out, line remains as I have explained it and if he does not get game time he might be able to walk away for free and regardless he could certainly have his WP withdrawn.}

9.) 13 Jan 2018 14:08:37
Ok Ed, thanks.

18 Dec 2016 18:55:35
Just a quick question for the ed's and anyone interested giving their opinion. With the neighbors looking to sell off Barkley were we ever interested or has he dropped off that badly. A few years ago I thought he had the makings to be a good midfielder and maybe a long term replacement for Stevie G. Admittedly I don't watch a lot of their games so would just appreciate some fed back on this, definitely not good enough for our team and the style we are playing under Klopp.

{Ed001's Note - no chance of him ever joining us and he was never at Gerrard's level. He has suffered badly at the hands of poor coaching, but he is not as good as he was made out to be. Still got potential, but not at the level of the youngsters we have.}

1.) 18 Dec 2016 20:15:21
Thanks for the input.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

2.) 18 Dec 2016 20:18:58
Poor coaching but his heavy partying does not help.

I'm talking all night seshes here by the way.

He's his own worst enemy and only has himself to blame.

{Ed001's Note - agreed, but a good coaching staff would have pulled him up on it, Bobby M just indulged the players.}

3.) 18 Dec 2016 21:51:08
Never seen the hype around Bartley. Bang average imo.

{Ed025's Note - bartley is a decent player to be honest max, and if henderson gets the plaudits for being a good player then ross being miles ahead in ability terms should as well mate, take them rose tinted glasses off and you might see football in a different light..

4.) 19 Dec 2016 00:30:32
Shame how these good players lose their way like Barkley and Rodwell.

5.) 19 Dec 2016 01:08:28
He looks a bit fat and out of shape to me.
Looks like he might be a wasted talent sadly.

6.) 18 Dec 2016 22:26:16
I'm sorry ed but I had to post. You just said Berkeley is not as good as our youth but better than jordan Henderson? I'm not rose tinted, he could have been that player but can't see it now. Which is it? Btw I used to rate him but not now.

{Ed025's Note - i never said he was not as good as your youth isedgodam, i cant actually think of a liverpool youth player who would get a game for accrington!, you dont bring young players through anymore you go out and buy from abroad like a lot of clubs and are part of the cause in the downfall of english football mate..

7.) 18 Dec 2016 22:29:36

I would say naturally there is a lean towards your own players. But Barkley and Henderson are miles apart.

Even if Barkleys ability is that much better as you say its irrelevant if it's failed to be utilised. You're comparing a captain of a team, rewarded for his utmost discipline and commitment and the example he sets to others. He's also gaining quick ground in terms of his consistency. A player that is definitely improving constantly, whilst not playing in a position he's necessarily totally used to.

Then you have Barkley, someone that has capitulated in terms of his end product time after time, lacks any real consistency to his game and whos regularly in and out of the team. Add that to the fact that i'm guessing he's a bit of a party head by the comments above and i don't understand the comparison between him and Henderson in any footballing terms really.

Is it not you who has the blue tinted glasses on mate? ;) .

{Ed025's Note - what i was pointing out smallsy was the difference of opinion that fans will have on players especially their own, we see ross as a talent who has all the attributes to become a very special player but has yet to reach those dizzy heights, we see jordan as a headless chicken who runs around a lot but is actually busy doing nothing, you see barkley as an overweight underachiever and henderson as the second was an exercise to see how different we see the game depending on which colours you don and i think i proved my point mate.. :)

8.) 18 Dec 2016 22:35:16
Ed hendo way better . Barkley can become a top player . But he looks overweight and he picks the Wrong ball most of the time and over runs to . Sorry just can't see the hype mate and hendo plays in a different postion . Now there postion Barkley plays in a number 10 so you should of said coutinho.

{Ed025's Note - ross is not fit to lace coutinho,s boots MIB i will give you that, but as a footballer they are chalk and cheese, hendo is a forest gump type of player and will sit in the hall of fame alongside carlton palmer and seth johnson who,s contribution to football can only be described as miniscule mate.. :)

9.) 19 Dec 2016 07:06:31
I don't doubt his ability Ed, just that he's not playing aswel as he should be. Technically he is good. He always pulls out of 50/ 50 tackles or doesn't even tackle, doesn't track back as much as he should. I'm not comparing him to Henderson either.

{Ed025's Note - he has been a serial underachiever max but there is something special in there just waiting to come out god i hope its tonight.. :)

10.) 19 Dec 2016 09:10:00
25 😂😂.

11.) 19 Dec 2016 10:03:53
I like Ross, and had he been a red we'd all harbour greater whimsical hopes of him being the second coming of stevie. even more so that how some of us held hopes for the flase dawn that was rossiter.

12.) 19 Dec 2016 12:13:15
You say we got being anyone thought. Sterling stuwert Ojo Ibe smith? i think your blue nos is coming through ed and what.

{Ed025's Note - now i have deciphered your post i can tell you that raheem was a product of the QPR academy and the other 3 will make a living in the lower leagues as far as i can tell mate..

13.) 19 Dec 2016 12:35:54
Course you don't like Henderson if your a bitter. if you actually watched him you would see what he does and how important he is to liverpool. barkley is massively overrated. hendo has improved this season under klopp where as barkley gets worse every season and as soon as he finds any form he will be off to a bigger club. he's the next Rodwell. overated crap.

{Ed025's Note - i agree that ross has somewhat underachieved abo but the guy does have talent unlike a certain mr henderson who is a great runner, but so is usain bolt but i would not want him in my side either..

14.) 19 Dec 2016 13:39:13
If you think Henderson is crap then I guess you have never played football. I guarantee the players around him appreciate what he does because he sacrifices his own personal glory in order to provide cover and back up in areas when others may get caught out of position. there are many types of players and those that play in the style of Hendo never get the recognition they deserve because he doesn't do all the fancy stuff. people say that we lost the league in Gerards final season because of his mistake against chelsea but it was really because a hole was left in our midfield when Hendo was suspended after the man city game and I think that demonstrated how much of an important player he is for a team that almost won the league that season and is arguably one of the best teams this season. also the season following the one we came runners up Hendo was plagued by injury and we didn't find any form as a team until he returned in thw latter part of the season so I think you need to take a closer look.

{Ed025's Note - i never said he was crap slimz, just not very good at football, living in the city a lot of my friends are reds and most of them dont rate him either, hes a box to box player supposedly but never actually achieves anything, now if were talking about powerhouse box to box players we look at the likes of gana gueye, ya ya toure and n,golo they are the real deal mate..but its all about opinions in the end..

15.) 19 Dec 2016 17:10:54
Sterling was are club since he was 12th mate .

{Ed002's Note - Sterling was 15 when purchased by Liverpool from QPR and he cost the club just under £600k initially. The club then paid a little less than £2.7M to QPR in add ons and a little under £8M when he was sold to Manchester City, Depending on additional monies that come for appearances, success etc. there, Liverpool could pay a further £1M to QPR for Sterling. As an aside Jordan Ibe joined from Wycombe Wanderers at 16.}

16.) 20 Dec 2016 06:18:16
Barkley showed that potential last night. dirty barstool. Typical toffee.

17.) 20 Dec 2016 09:49:28
Ok I know we think we have grear youth. but did some seriouly offer up ibe, smith and stewart to compare with barkleym aw gummoooon.

18.) 20 Dec 2016 15:13:56
Ed025 that's an interesting take on Hendo. I agree he doesn't do anything flashy. He passes back and sideways way too often. But he is vital to our team at the moment. His work rate is top notch which is vital to Klopps style. And he has been incredibly important to protecting the back line. Without hendo in there we would be leaking even more goals. He doesn't make many mistakes but doesn't take too many risks. It's okay to have a few of those players.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think it would be very entertaining Tj if a team had many of them mate, but i do appreciate that you are only backing your player mate...and i can live with that..

19.) 20 Dec 2016 21:50:29
I guess we'd never know Hendo's value to the team until he isn't there! also ed, is gueye a powerhouse? he seemed a bit lightweight and all over the show to me. but granted that was the only time I've wwatched him!

{Ed025's Note - gana is the bees knees faithinworks, not much between him and kante i would say mate..

20.) 21 Dec 2016 11:40:14
Thus is actually hilarious. How anyone can still doubt headersons ability. And doesn't do anything flashy. Pretty sure he scored a contender for goal of the season already. Nearly got another against westham. Is one of our best long ball passers. And there is no need to mention all the other work he does. He is a captain. Likely to be Liverpool and England's for a while. Barkley doesn't come close and this yet another time players who look good and do something fancy once in a blue moon are supposedly more talented than those who do the smart and easier thing more often and are consistent top perfermers every week.

Not Red related, but watching Fulham v Millwall and seeing this kid Ryan Sessegnon play, pity we messed up with Fulham because he is a very good player at only 17. Obvious that with more of the right guidance he could well develop into a great player.

1.) 20 Apr 2018 22:18:26
I hope Fulham are promoted and he stays with them for 2/ 3 years, he could be a superstar if he doesn't move too big to soon.

12 Apr 2018 13:21:27
Still have a feeling we will get Real or Bayern in the semi's with the first leg at home, as EUFA would prefer to match those 2 together in the Final. We can bet whoever we face if we play like we know we can. Your thoughts?

1.) 12 Apr 2018 14:05:12
From a practical perspective, we have to beat Bayern or Real to win the UCL. If we can beat one, we can beat the other. Therefore it makes no difference who we face, bring it on!

2.) 12 Apr 2018 15:20:03
what are you trying to say Canadian that eufa cheat? do you seriously believe that? how do you suppose they do that then?
the balls are put in a pot and drawing out it is what it is, let it go. anyway you shouldn't be bother who we draw and or if the first leg is at home or not, its still a 2 leg tie with one been home and the other away,
personally a say bring on any of those teams left we are capable and I believe we will beat any of those teams we going to kiev and we going to win champs league this year without doubt YNWA.

3.) 12 Apr 2018 15:43:54
Hendo, you should take a closer look at all the draws for both the League and FA cup draws from the 3rd round up,
every round draw shows how certain big teams are assisted with an easy game, they can then rest more players,
then check out which certain team, they play in RED, are normally given a tough game,
but your correct, they really can't cheat with a draw, can they,
no way, Jose,

4.) 12 Apr 2018 16:15:43
There are a suspicious number of highly convenient draws that happen in these competitions it has to be said, particularly in the secondary competitions (which are currently the Europa League and league cup)

Look at our Europa Cup final run - we draw United of all teams with 15 possibilities, and then Dortmund just months after Klopp joins us out of the 7 options. Literally the only possible glamour ties in the entire competition and they both happen as soon as numbers become manageable for any form of fixing? Similarly we have faced Everton more than any other team in the FA cup - you'd expect it to be one of the teams that historically make it a long way in the cups as they tend to face each other often, but nope it's Everton who've got past R4 four times in 20 years. These are just examples from us, lots of clubs have similar stories that whilst possible without any fixing are statistically very unlikely yet make marketing like shooting fish in a barrel.

Not saying that fixing does happen. Not saying that anything dirty is involved. But looking at the volume of unlikely occurrences, together with how cash and media marketing driven everything about football, would it really shock you to discover that the broadcasters had the ability to pick a couple of fixtures that they wanted to happen?

5.) 12 Apr 2018 16:38:46
Maybe Everton's poor FA Cup record are because they keep getting drawn with us? ;-) tehehe.

6.) 12 Apr 2018 17:50:15
One of my balls is heavier than the other. Maybe that's where they took inspiration from :)

7.) 12 Apr 2018 18:03:28
So many conspiracy theories going on here do all these people think the earth is flat or that Elvis is still alive we beat anyone put in front of us you have to to win anything.

8.) 12 Apr 2018 18:31:57
WRKD - too much information! 😒.

9.) 12 Apr 2018 22:11:04
jet fuel can't melt steel beams.

07 Apr 2018 18:17:06
Slightly related to Us, Just watching citeh and utd, Citeh up by 2 now and running at them, We need to get to half time without conceding as they have the players to score and if they do they will be well up for it. Also if Pep did get offered Pogba he did right to pass up on him, Ledged in his own lunch break and should spend more time on improving himself than his stupid haircuts.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, Pogba does not drink, so he spends time old school footballers used to spend getting hammered by going the barbers etc. I would rather he did that then went the pub straight after training personally.}

1.) 07 Apr 2018 18:24:34
On another note it looks like City will wrap the title up today so will that mean they won't be up for their game against Spurs next week. Yes we have a massive CL game on tue but the hunt for top 4 is far from over. And any points Spurs, Utd or Chelsea drop are good points for us.

2.) 07 Apr 2018 18:48:49
FFS, and now he's gone and scored twice. Shows how vulnerable citehs defence is. but he's still a ****er. lol.

3.) 07 Apr 2018 18:52:50
Pogba two goals already in second half, not bad for a legend in his own lunch break.

4.) 07 Apr 2018 19:07:51
Aye Mcgoveb. He must of taken a very long lunch break. lol Still just a juan ker.

10 Nov 2017 19:52:59
Just tuning in to watch the England, Is it just me or do others Maguire is poor? (to be kind) I think Gomez is on par if not slightly better.

1.) 10 Nov 2017 20:12:06
Will try and stay awake long enough to check.

2.) 10 Nov 2017 20:34:33
Gomez on. Come on Lad show em what you can do,

3.) 10 Nov 2017 21:00:49
I'm not watching it because watching England is like watching paint dry but good luck to Gomez!

4.) 10 Nov 2017 21:38:30
Yeah i got bored and turned over 😩.

5.) 11 Nov 2017 14:51:01
Canadian, it's not just you. For the life of me, I have never understood this love-in (by some in the media) for Maguire. He is slow, clumsy, always out of position and can't track back (well, cos he is slow) . Bang awful player.

07 Oct 2015 21:11:28
So fellow reds. Now that Rodgers has departed & odds on that we have a new manager in Klopp what are your realistic expectations for this season & next. My own personal feelings were that had things stayed the same we would of been 8th to 10th place team out of the cup's & Europe early on. Now I feel a little more hopeful. Maybe a top 6 position this season, a good run in the F.A Cup, out of the group stages in Europe at least & but not too far in the league cup.
Next year if he can have a good clear out of some who aren't good enough, bring in his own type of player & build the team I think a top 4 finish next year would be achievable. I support him as he is our manager regardless of results & performances as long as he is heading us in the right direction. I think he has inherited an average squad that needs good strong leadership & stability.
Onwards & upwards. YNWA

1.) 07 Oct 2015 21:25:46
Europa league and league cup

2.) 07 Oct 2015 21:34:31
My expectations are to be watching attractive attacking football with a motivated team that seems to actually care. The rest will fall into place.

3.) 07 Oct 2015 21:35:16
I reckon more of what we have been used too til Xmas. Then I half expect his ideas to start to come through. Go on bit of a run maybe sneak top 4 this year? Wouldn't be disappointed though if we don't but we see a marked improvement and a team ethos / identity

4.) 07 Oct 2015 21:36:01
You've made me look silly ed, you've cut off the rest of message ^^^^^

5.) 07 Oct 2015 21:44:55
I think he's inherited a great young squad. Bear in mind the likes of Markovic, Flanagan, Teixera, Ilori (who he tried to sign) and Wisdom are not there and are all very young. Plus the likes of Can, Moreno, Gomez, Ibe and Ings will all benefit for the remainder under Klopp. I can see Sahko, Benteke, Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino, Clyne, Lallana and Henderson all being certain regulars if not starters for a lot of the season.

That leaves the likes of Lovren, Enrique, Skrtle, Mignolet, Milner, Allen, Lucas and maybe Origi who may not be guaranteed games if any in Enriques case. I'd say it would be a great move if Bournemouth took Origi for the remainder of the season in January. They have two strikers out and the regular games Origi would get would be better than sitting on our bench.

I think Klopp (how good is that to say) will look for a new keeper in January. Possibly demoting Mignolet to number two or he leaves for first team football. Which for the rest of season would see Bogdan as number two, not too bad.

I can see a youngster breaking into the squad and for me I'd go with one of Chiravella or Teixera. Klopp will surely be impressed with the crop of youngsters we have.

I do hope we don't lose Linjders in the back room shuffle from what I know he's highly regarded and has already done good work at the club. To lose him after him only being promoted in the summer would be a big loss. Surely his old job would be viable??

Lastly I just wanted to say that the owners have done us good if we do retain Klopp. They have bankrolled Rodgers to over 300 million and now get us Klopp we should be grateful for that. When you look at where we were when they arrived to this point they have done great work in not only stabilising the club but working tirelessly on getting us upwards.

6.) 07 Oct 2015 21:46:03
Think we'll make top four, possibly Chelsea missing out, although I'd be astonished if Mourinho doesn't turn things around quickly there, or maybe United, who remain average, just more consistently so than others.
Klopp will also no doubt take the cups seriously, as he has a track record of doing, but I'd be surprised if we challenged on all four fronts so I'd conclude:
*League- 4th place, 65-70 points
*League Cup- SFs-Winners (Should beat Bournemouth, then one more round til semi-finals, at which point it'd be taken seriously)
*FA Cup- 5th round/QFs, tough set of fixtures around March, plus League Cup final if we made it, would not surprise if it was let go
*Europa League- QFs-Winners, If we can turn around our poor start and win our group I'm confident we'll reach at least the semis, with Klopp European nights at Anfield will become electric once again!

7.) 07 Oct 2015 21:48:02
Nice one, I just hope we have strong and convincing performances

8.) 07 Oct 2015 21:48:25
Klopp will move a lot of players on and concentrate on building a solid core. That will take him a year. Then he will build on that core - another year. You are looking at season 17/18 before we start to put a sustained campaign together in the Prem and realistically 18/19 at the earliest before we are back in the Champions League,

Other than that, we may get a few good cup runs in the meantime and anything else is a bonus.

We are in a mess and it's going to be a slog to sort it out.

9.) 07 Oct 2015 22:10:25
Of course I want us to win every game we play. I honestly think that 4th or higher is not beyond us assuming we're not too hampered by injuries. Apart from City, all the other contenders are at best inconsistent and we're not too far off in terms of points. It depends how long the new manager takes to turn around performances. A decent cup run / win would be a bonus, but given the requirement to secure CL football to both retain key squad members e.g. Coutinho, and to give the opportunity to attract one or two more established players in key positions (please let's not have another summer with 8 or so new arrivals), securing the best league position we can manage should be priority. The Europa league obviously affords us an alternative opportunity for CL qualification, but I reckon it's harder to win than achieving at least 4th. I think that this is why FSG have acted now, coupled with the sense that their preferred target was available (unlike at the end of the summer).
Given some of the transfer and contract decisions the club has made recently (Benteke, Milner, Sakho, possibly Firminho) I do wonder whether they've had one eye on a potential managerial change.
As I've previously come out in support of BR, I'm now eating my words. With hindsight I agree the change was required. I think patience will be required going forward though.

10.) 07 Oct 2015 23:26:48
Klopp doesn't take any game for granted. He plays to win every game and is that is the right attitude to have. My expectation is that we try to win every game we play no matter the opponent.

11.) 08 Oct 2015 01:26:31
To be honest i think klopp will like our squad as it is, with the addition on maybe another actual winger.

The ones i'd be worried for are milner, allen, lallana, lovren, skrtel and mignolet more than anything. can't see them lasting very long if we do appoint klopp.

I was basing my opinion on 10 games not 1 Ed001, but thanks for your opinion and reply any way.

{Ed001's Note - and I was talking about over the course of his career, it is why the scouts all watched him but no one went for him other than Newcastle.}

Feel bad for Ward. Klopp should of let him go back to Huddersfield and get some premiership experience, giving the lad the very odd run out isn't doing him any favors.

Would sooner look at getting Ake from Chelsea though I doubt they would let him go, Keane from Burnley or the lad from Boro Gibson (? ) than Van Dijk, better long term prospects and cheaper.

Sickened for the poor lad, really hope he can make a full recover and play some part for the REDS in the future. Cannot fault him as he was giving 100% for the team and picks up a bad knock.

What I find really good is the fact we have some quality players on the bench who may not be game changers they are not something to look and wonder if a forward, mid or defender is injured we are not thinking oh s*** we are going to struggle here. Not knocking previous players, just that some were not good enough.

Exactly Bobby, mate is a big Stoke fan and said the same plus more. Would be a poor signing, the panel pointed this out on ITV.

Well done Wagner and Huddersfield, glad to see them stay up small club with very limited finances. Have a soft spot for them as I worked there for a few years, Good well run club and atmosphere, some good banter and just glad to see Stoke, WBA and hopefully Swansea down, though would be nice to see Hughes go down with Southampton, then that would be 2 teams he managed this season relegated.
