Sakho - Sell
Markovic - Sell
Coutinho - Sell
Origi - Loan

Lemar - Buy
Van Dijk - Buy

I'm not a religious man, but please, dear Robbie Fowler, make this happen today so we can get on with our lives.

Are you in Monaco today Ed002? Keep your ears to the ground. Any chance we could have a great bit of gossip?

{Ed002's Note - I arrived late yesterday afternoon and leave very early tomorrow.}

1.) 24 Aug 2017 13:38:53
How much are you offering for Coutinho this time Ed002?

15 Jul 2017 08:10:44
Just a nod to the quality full backs debate. I think next season may see a change in approach. Last year, Clyne and Milner were expected to get wide and stretch the pitch. To be fair, they both created more chances than any other defenders in the league.

Next year, I don't think they'll be required to do this as much.
1. We have Salah and Mane who both have pace to run wide and beat men.
2. Coutinho will be central, he won't need Milner running past him to give him space.
3. Keita? Himself and Coutinho would be getting forward taking up the positions usually occupied by Mane and Coutinho of last season.
4. Milner and Clyne sitting inside more, providing bodies for the counter pressing and winning the ball back earlier. Aswell as options for when the attack fails.
5. More defensively solid. If the fullbacks are central during attacks then the shape is kept a bit tighter.

I think inverted wing backs is the current preferred phrase.

I am all for buying full backs but I wouldn't be surprised if we change our approach slightly and not need them as urgently as we currently think.

Interesting read and theory that Barnseybob.

2.) 15 Jul 2017 11:52:46
Then we need fullbacks that can defend. Milner and TAA can. Clyne Moreno not so much and Robertson wasn't that great at Hull so if we do shift to that situation we need better players.
Fullbacks are becoming one of the most important positions in EPL. We'd either be behind what others are doing or ahead of the game by doing the opposite.

RIP Bradley. Just a quick mention for Jermain Defoe. What he did for that boy and his family is nothing short of heroic. It's very rare to see players in the public spotlight doing good deeds, let alone showing humanity, aiding a young supporter who idolised him and easing him through his last year of life.
If anybody on here has any kind of influence at Anfield with arranging matchday events then I would like to ask them whether they could organise the hugest standing ovation of an opposition player in our history when he visits our stadium this year.
I hope it wouldn't stop there either, everywhere he plays this year. He deserves it.

1.) 07 Jul 2017 22:50:16
Best part of it for me is Defoe did so much and didn't ask for recognition he just did it to make a young fan happy.

From what I gather.

We revealed to the north west press that VVD had agreed to join us. This was meant to give us a stronger arm in negotiations with Southampton. (We offer what we think he's worth, not what Southampton think he's worth)

Southampton think hold on, we've got Chelsea and City here who were both willing to bid, and because you've spoken to our player, they're now out. They've lost the upper hand.

Southampton report us, we grovel.

Now it's getting interesting. VVD is unsettled, is it our fault? Maybe, we spoke to him. However, he was already unsettled, his agent was talking to other clubs. Southampton knew this. The explanation Ed001 received from his man/ woman earlier also backs this up, stretching back from when Fonte left.

Now, do they keep him? He doesn't want to be there. Do they sell him to Man City? They revealed they didn't want to pay the fee they were given. Do Chelsea want him? Moving on to Bonucci? Or us? We pay the fee they always wanted?

1.) 08 Jun 2017 13:54:40
Personally, if a player said i don't want you, i want them. I wouldn't go back in for them.

2.) 08 Jun 2017 13:54:47
I'm not using fact here at all, purely logic but I would think this.

If a player comes out with such a strong intent of wanting to play for LFC, that is a considerably offputting sign surely to other prospective clubs? It's a bit embarrassing for example if Chelsea came back in, made a bid and then moved the player. when its so well documented, and clearly not fabricated, that he wants to join LFC as his first, and top choice. It puts Southampton and the player in an awkward position.

Chelsea, as ED002 has reiterated time and time again seem to be incredibly concerned about no-one being seen to be bigger than CFC and revisiting and signing a player that has quite vocally chosen someone else over them would put them off no end i'd imagine. even if it was now at a cost they deemed reasonable, Man City. i'd think would be a similar situation. I just don't see that not being the way. Maybe i'm wrong?

So you've got a player that is clearly cheesed off to say the least, not happy at Southampton. now been sold a lie about this whole shambles with his career completely up in the air.

I think the only thing that can happen here is we re-enter talks, if Southampton are willing, and pay the money and get this over the line. Then we've been seen to do the right thing by the player, Southampton and ourselves. It would go someway to healing what is a stinking set of events.

3.) 08 Jun 2017 15:49:46
Barnesybob makes a good point. One cannot deny that Saints knew VVD would be off this summer but wanted a bidding war, which is fine. However, VVD made it clear via his agent that he wanted us and us only. He told City and Chelsea to go fly a kite.

His agent speaks to us and Klopp speaks to the player (stupidly, for sure) and Saints lose their right to a bidding war. One also has to remember that VVD is not innocent in all this as his agent would not have come to us without VVD's consent and even he should have known the risks.

Now Saints have a problem. City nor Chelsea may not come in for him as he outright rejected them and VVD won't play for them anymore. Something has got to give. We shall see.

i have known Jimmy Bullard for a very long time. I'd just like to defend him a bit. A lot of people say these things and yes, sometimes he doesn't come across well but he's worked so hard through his career. From Gravesend and Northfleet when he didn't even look like a good footballer to playing consistently in the premiership and a call up to the England squad.
When being at his house he does come across differently, mainly when watching football. I've never seen anything like it. He doesn't watch football, he studies it. About 5 inches from the screen and can't even talk to him.

They've now deleted the tweet. Unprofessional to announce before the club? I suppose it is what we've come to expect from Colossal. It does however look like it's coming to an end. Well done ed002, i believe it was first mentioned on this site, re: interest from Klopp.

I asked about him on the European pages about a week ago. I said I couldn't believe we hadn't been linked with him yet. Don't get your hopes up, Inter have bid and another. I don't know which club Ed002 was alluding to yesterday when he said about two clubs have bid though, maybe Juve as a replacement for Sandro but they had a preferred option at the time. He's rapid, athletic and I certainly wouldn't mind him joining our Brazilian contingent but we haven't looked.

I think we've moved on. If, as reported, we're talking to Sporting and Gelson Martins then I'd say we've definitely moved on. I don't think we'd be after both.

People saying it's a negotiating tactic to force Roma into agreeing an offer, I think, have to be wrong. Surely we wouldn't be stupid enough to mess Salah, his representatives, Roma, Gelson and Gelson's representatives about? Would we? Actually, I don't know.

That’s the beauty of it Nurhaizan. Salah was doubled up on. It wasn’t Bonk, but the equally brilliantly-named Bong, and that meant Coutinho and Firmino ran riot. Firmino 2 goals, Coutinho a goal and three assists if you count the own goal.

Was you at Woodstock Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - No I am a little bit too young for that, and from the West Coast.}

Dries Mertens. Having a hell of a time at Napoli. Unlikely to be available though. He's great with Insigne, like Coutinho and Firmino but quicker.

I had a shortlist on this position of Alli, Asensio, Coutinho, Dybala, Isco and Silva. So tough to choose one.

Alli would be my wildcard - high potential there. Asensio, again potential, but above where Alli is in my opinion. Coutinho, I chose for CM. Dybala would've been my choice if I'd chosen differently in other areas - he's more of a second striker, and with the wingers, midfielders I've chosen I wouldn't need the extra goal threat, I'd need someone more creative and to sit in the hole. Silva is aging but is still quality and where some of these guys need to get to.

Looks like I'm going for Isco.
