There have been speculations in local media, that Steaua keeper Giedrius Arlauskis might join an EPL club, that is looking for a keeper in January.

As Steaua is facing problems in Romania (they are under some legal issues, actually they lost the club name as well), it is possible they might be selling cheap. And i can not think of any other EPL club, that needs a keeper so much.

Maybe he could be a good competition for Migs. He was described by critics as "showing one of the best form in Europe" this autumn and he was awarded his country's footballer of the year just few days ago.

{Ed002's Note - No chance of a move to Liverpool. Perhaps Roma.}

Hi, I am a Liverpool fan from Lithuania, and today I saw this article all over the local media: "Young Lithuanian keeper Emilijus Zubas attracted interest of Liverpool".

Some interesting facts, as I assume information is very limited from eastern europe:

Zubas played in my city team, Ekranas (5 champion titles in a row for the team, Zubas has been main keeper for last 2 years). This winter he moved to Belchatov GKS, which was the last club in Polish premier league, with 6 points after mid-season, waiting for relegation.
Zubas made so many clean sheets, that the team went back in business - 8 clean sheets in 11 games, 20 points in 11 games. Imagine, how that is with last team of the division.
He was also main U-21 keeper for a few years.

All Lithuania is excited about these rumours about Liverpool scouting him :)

At least one positive thing coming out of this game.

From this season, Europa League champions are granted a Champions League spot next year.

And it is way more achievable, than winning CL. And possibly, even coming 4th in ELP.
So, if we can't finish in top4, we need to commit to Europa league.
Even if we finish 4th, we must make sure Tottenham does not win it. ;)

It is sad that we lost and that we were toothless, however i did see glimpses of what could become a great game, if we manage to solve some problems.

1. Being clumsy. Lads do their best with pressing, to force oppisition to do mistakes. Opposition makes mistake and ball is ours to take (our player being in better position to claim the ball), then some clumsy move and the ball is back with the opposition + our player is out of position.

2. Vision. 2 episodes in the first half (about the end). First: Manquillo has the ball at the right wing, Borini is undefended and begging for a cross, and that cross did not even need to be very precise. However Manquillo choses to play some tiki backwards or so. Second: Lallana has the ball at the left. Markovic is alone in the middle, 20 yards from goal, nobody even close to defend, and no offside since defenders are all in the left side and closer to the back line. This did not even have to be a cross, a pass could have been enough. But Lallana chose to pass backwards.

And i also think, you may not give stick to Markovic. He was probably the only who could be a treat to opposition, had he some more luck. Any Madrid player is better than any our player, and for the passing game we tried to play, they had both offense and defense outplaying us completely. The only way we could be a menace, was raw speed (forwards vs their defenders, not Bale vs ours. They had that option too, but for us this option was probably the only).
Therefore, as for substitutes, i would have probably brought Sterling for Lallana, and Coutinho for Allen, and kept Markovic on the field. Stevie for Lucas was ok though, for 20 minutes of play.

Excellent turnaround at the end of today's game. And in this game i was most impressed by. wait for it. GLEN JOHNSON. He was unbeatable in his side, and had some excellent tackles. His side was rock solid.

Also all of the attackers deserve good words. Lambert was good as a target man, obtaining the ball and distributing. Borini was excellent and worked hard on both attack and defense. He also earned 2 yellow cards for opposition. He was on the limit of the fair play, but i guess that's because of trying so hard to prove himself. And Balotelli, well he did his job, what more can we expect in 15 minutes.
Midfielders: Coutinho looked like Messi of the both teams. However, i must admit sometimes his decisions were hardly understandable. Markovic had a couple of nice episodes, but mostly was hard to notice on the field.Its a pitty he missed his chance in the first half. It will be even harder for him now. Lallana was in too short to be noticed i guess. Henderson worked hard in defense, but did not contribute much in attack. Looked a bit tired. Lucas did his job as a DM.
Defense seems to still be an issue. Well Manquillo added a lot to attack, so right defense was a bit weaker, but that is probably expected. However, central defense was a way bigger issue, and this had nothing to do with CD splitting, as the ball was disposessed long time before the goal. The goal happened as Lovren completely lost his man. I can't blame him though, he fixed his mistake by scoring a winner. Toure has issues with his speed. A lot of times central defenders were saved by Johnson or Lucas, when they were outplayed in the centre.
Brad Jones had a good game, i would say. He showed his class when he saved Jonjo's free kick. During the goal he covered his angle and could not do anything else.
Overall, a nice display with (FINALLY) posession on our side. We were better side and deserved to win. There's still much to improve in all areas though.

@Cobra

Lacazette not making the France euro squad costed them the Euro cup.

Giroud played well but he is still a tree. His replacement Gignac was the same, just more clumsy.

Can someone explain why exactly Fulham are angry at us?

As much as i remember, it was agreed between Fulham and LFC about the Dempsey's transfer, and they were the ones to start talks with Spurs after that, which allowed them to hijack the transfer. Isn't it us who should be angry, and them who should be sorry?

Zaibys

{Ed001's Note - you remember incorrectly, we tapped up Dempsey, who then put in a transfer request to Fulham. We then tried to get him on the cheap, because he had handed in a transfer request after being tapped up by us. It was simply because of the breakdown in relations between Dempsey and the club that he then ended up at Spurs on deadline day.}

There're any rumors about some talks going on, or it is just out of nowhere? :)

Someone should buy BR a gift of some football manager game, where players are marked red, when you try to play them out of position.
