I genuinely thought we would get something out of that game. Clearly not. the movement of our players was too slow. Salah and mane were isolated constantly, the only midfielder I thought played well was Fabinho! Why Klopp played Gomez on a return from injury against arguably the best team in the world Is beyond me. If we are going to get anything from this and very unlikely progress, is to focus on the wings and put ball in the box and spilt their defence out wide. We really missed Firmino tonight and it showed how important he is to our team.

Fabinho was awful. Constantly throwing himself about conceding needless free kicks and he gave the ball away so many times. It looked like he was trying too hard instead of playing his normal game.

I think we played gomez to be more defensive but unfortunately that means no crosses from Trent. Or Robbo for that matter he’s delivery was terrible I can’t remember 1 good cross coming in.
What I can’t understand is gini as a9 he just doesn’t score away from home. He doesn’t even score at home really!
And then the 2 misses from mane and salah. You have to put them away if you want to away if you want to stay in the tie.

With our height compared to Barcelona and the headers mane has been scoring the game was calling out for trent. Very poor performance from Klopp last night.

Stuie, I hardly think Fabinho was throwing himself about. All he had to do was stand near a Barcelona player and they ended up screaming on the floor. Ref was poor in that regard I thought.

I really don't think Klopp did much wrong. Yes, Gini was playing at the front but the match I watched, we were fully in control and had enough chances to take the game at 1-0. Milners miss was criminal, no pressure from 12 yards and hits it straight at the keeper. I think we did an excellent job at keeping Messi quiet and pinning Barcelona back into their own half. If we had taken our chances, I think we would all be praising Klopp this morning. I thought at 2-0 the game was one we could recover at Anfield, but it's goi g to be extremely difficult now as I can't see us not conceding.

Blimey. I must’ve been watching a different game to you lot. Have any of you checked the match stats yet? I know they don't tell anywhere near the whole story but it was pretty much even Steven. We had 50% posession. No one has that at the Nou Camp. They very much changed tactics to deal with us and aside from a lucky second, a world class free kick and some poor finishing from us things would have been totally different. That’s football with fine margins at their finest.

Lads please understand that Liverpool and Klopp cannot win every game they play
and it seems a tad ungrateful to be having a go at either after the season we are having
Seems some have forgot the Bristol city Brian Tinnion days.

Johnny1970- he needlessly kept dicing into tackles, his sliding tackle actually provided the perfect through ball for Suarez and the second goal. You also said it yourself, the Barcelona players were throwing themselves to the floor at every opportunity, surely this alone would make Fab stop diving into tackles as they were playing for free kicks.

Ed’s,

Can you confirm there is interest in Werner? I’ve tried looking on the sight but cannot see anything. If we are interested what’s our chances?

Thanks,

YNWA12350

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool at this time - there is certainly interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 13 Feb 2019 17:50:14
He would demand to play and who would we leave out to get him in? One of our forward 3 would need to leave for us to be interested imo.

Thanks for the reply! If you were the manager what positions Do you think we need? And who would you go for!

{Ed002's Note - Well I guess the first thing to do is to figure out if there are youngsters who can step up - and maybe Brewster could settle in if Sturridge and Origi were to go. I would expect Mignolet to need replacing and a decent older HG solution would be best - but I am not aware of any at this time. Liverpool has looked at Diego Llorente (CB) but he would want to be a starter - any of these three might prove to be a good option: Jorge Mere (CB) of Cologne and Marseille's Boubacar Kamara (CB) and RBL's Ibrahima Konate (CB). A natural LM player would help Laxalt has been looked at before and would be a good option. The club has looked at DM and CM but do not appear to be chasing and unless someone were to leave I doubt it would be a priority. If Mane or Salah were to go, Lorenzo Insigne (LW) - would be a good replacement but very, very expensive €150M asking price. That leaves the full back positions and depends whether or not cover can be provided by the younger players - else Junior Firpo (LB) would be a great option and can be used as a DM - but another who would want to be a starter.}

Thanks ed002 as always 🥰.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Wow great info as usual Ed and good insight of your knowledge and talent of the game.

5.) 13 Feb 2019 21:50:27
Why would one of Mané Bobby or salah need to leave
For Timo to come yes he’ll want to play as much as he can but he doesn’t start every game for Leipzig often gets took off before poulsen we’ve seen Shaqiri get starts this season an would mean we can rotate more Keita and Fabinho both came they don’t start every game.

AOC is ready for a test like that. Let’s not forget he’s only just come back from injury. if we are going to have a chance of beating Barcelona we need to play quick simple football.
