Has anyone heard that we are close to signing Dennis Praet?

WooltonRed

1.) 09 Jan 2016 23:17:38
No, but I'd be pretty happy about that. Really like the kid.

2.) 10 Jan 2016 00:14:51
Another centre attacking midfielder? To go with Coutinho, Firmino, Texeira and Lallana? Would make about as much sense as spending €50m on Götze!

3.) 10 Jan 2016 02:04:39
He's played LW mostly this season, actually.

4.) 10 Jan 2016 02:22:09
RDL

Firmino and especially Lallana are almost on borrowed time under Klopp. If you honestley think Tex will make it in the Prem I ain't got a clue which player you have seen but don't let that Exeter performance hoodwink you he can mix it with top international players week in week out mate. We ave enough who play one decent game in four/ five n think they've made it (allen lallana lovren etc etc) Sorry but he is championship level at best b we need champions league level.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 02:33:15
Praet is hardly Championship level. Not saying we need him as we don't, but I really think he's going to be very good someday. Wouldn't surprise me to see him at Dortmund in the near future.

6.) 10 Jan 2016 02:41:47
Also, Praet has played (and scored and assisted) in the CL more than Coutinho, Lallana, and Firmino combined despite being a fair but younger than all three, so your point is a bit of a strange one for me.

{Ed001's Note - what a ridiculous thing to say! How does his goals and assists record in the Champions League compared to those three matter? Some posts are just getting laughable and this is one. Especially when you have the cheek to call someone saying we have enough players in that position already a strange one. Do you ever actually read back what you wrote? Because if you read that back and thought it was a good point you were making, then you need to get someone else to proofread for you.}

7.) 10 Jan 2016 03:21:20
No way firmino is on borrowed time. Yes he has not been stellar but has talent and needs time to adjust. Next year we should see whether or not he has the ability to remain. How many players from other leagues needed a year to adust? Lana I'd another case. He has been in the EPL a whole now and probably hot his peak
A good player but not quality enough for LFC unless he is an impact sub.

8.) 10 Jan 2016 05:05:56
Mickeyboy:

Firmino is on "borrowed time" with Klopp?

First off, Firmino has barely played half of an EPL season. I mean, he's on borrowed time before even completing a season year with us?

Second, have you actually watched matches? Real question. Because Klopp has been starting him in all big games-- City, Chelsea, Leicester City-- including regularly starting him as a 9 over our lone "fit" CF in Benteke.

Why? Because he's often, lately, been our best and most creative attacker.

9.) 10 Jan 2016 06:33:11
I simply find it strange to say someone is not Champions League level when they've played in that competition and fared pretty well in it. Does it matter? No, not really and it's admittedly a meaningless comparison, just like saying he's a Championship player in the first place is pretty nonsensical and has little merit.

And we do have plenty of similar players, I agree with you there, although personally I think Praet is already as good as most and I personally think could become better than all of them. Basically he's simply a player I like and would be happy to see play for us.

{Ed001's Note - but you are not saying any of that. You can up with a comparison about their stats. A completely irrelevant and meaningless one at that. Stats should be banned, they are abused by people to make these kind of moronic comparisons.}

10.) 10 Jan 2016 08:58:48
Firmino on borrowed time?

If you watched closely over the last few weeks he's getting himself in a lot of goals scoring position and shooting more all be it there not going in. Il start to worry when he's not getting in the positions. It's only a matter of time before the goals come.

11.) 10 Jan 2016 10:52:29
RDL I'm aware that he can play left wing. But so can Coutinho, Firmino, Teixera etc. Götze isn't exactly a flying winger. He will drift inside and contribute to the problem we are currently facing: too many similar players getting in eachothers way.

We would be better off spending €50m on Reus if we have that sort of money to spunk on a single player. He may be world class but so was Firmino last season in the same league. So let's just give him a chance first.

Praet and Götze are pointless signings.

12.) 10 Jan 2016 12:22:17
Why are people giving Tex a hard time saying he can't mix it at Premier league level?
Did anyone go to the Bournemouth cup game?
He was MoM in my opinion, with Lucas very close second.
Are Bournemouth not Premier League?
If we're going to sign obvious upgrades on what we have e. g. Götze then that's fine by me but players need to be moved on too.
The likes of Praet are a gamble who may or may not be better than what we have. We don't need gambles, not yet anyway.

13.) 10 Jan 2016 15:19:19
Like I already said EMS, I don't think we need him either for precisely the reasons you mention although I do think maybe you're getting him mixed up with Max Meyer or something as Praet plays in Belgium not Germany?

14.) 10 Jan 2016 19:50:25
To the guy who said Firmino and Lallana are on borrowed time, you are fooling yourself, big time. If anyone is on borrowed time, it is Lallana. The guy offers nothin while Firmino always tries to create, score or assist. Lallana does none of those and hasn't scored a goal in months. Lallana will be gone way before Firmino will.

Any truth in this rumour that Chelsea might want Benteke in January?

1.) 20 Dec 2015 09:47:03
We can but hope.

03 Nov 2015 01:51:26
If the stories are true about Fabregas having a fallout with JM at Chelsea, would there be any chance of Liverpool moving for him? he would be a major upgrade on Joe Allen.

WooltonRed

{Ed001's Note - is this a wind up?}

1.) 03 Nov 2015 11:33:21
Ed001 you would hope so. but i'm afraid i really don't think it is! I don't know how you get through the day sometimes!

{Ed001's Note - I spend a lot of time crying and banging my head against a brick wall.}

If somebody could answer this question and solve an argument for me I would be very grateful. if Liverpool, or Spurs or United were to win Europa Lg and finish outside top for of Premier League. would England have 4 or 5 sides possibly entering the Champions League next season?

WooltonRed

{Ed002's Note - Five.}

1.) 26 Feb 2016 22:37:59
Add to that if Chelsea win the CL, would that then be six teams in the CL next season?

{Ed002's Note - No - five max. 4th would drop down to the EL.}

27 Dec 2015 02:26:00
I know most people will disagree with me here, but would there be any chance of us bringing in Adebayor on a pay as you play deal until the season ends? . He'd be an extra body, used to the Prem, wudn cost anything and at this moment in time, we only have one fit striker . I think he could fit in with our style .

WooltonRed

{Ed001's Note - no and he would cost something, so not sure where you got that nonsensical idea he wouldn't from. Why on earth would we want him. If we want an extra body we could just sign a member of the crowd who would at least try.}

1.) 27 Dec 2015 07:47:51
You are right. Most people would disagree with you on this one!

2.) 27 Dec 2015 09:07:10
Adebayor? Really? I actually don't even know how to reply to this.

3.) 27 Dec 2015 10:02:08
Hangs around the changing room like a bad smell.
Such a negative influence he would do more damage than good (like Mario)

4.) 27 Dec 2015 07:08:45
Adebayor isn't getting to the bench at Spurs who has the only out and out striker available for 4 competitions.

5.) 27 Dec 2015 16:14:16
Adebayor doesn't play for spurs, probably why EG!

{Ed001's Note - obviously not noticed they released him a couple of months ago....}

We need midfielders, our present crop just aren't good enough, so yes a clear out is needed. Hendo, Can, Rossiter and Brannigan are worth keeping as squad players, but realistically none of them should be in our first choice XI, a couple more additions (+ Grujic) are needed. so let's hope this Polish guy is up to it.

I don't think we should pay the high price for Teixera, we would better spending our money on Mahrez next season and trying to sort out our midfield, Xhaka and Gundogan would be great additions with Grujic, Hendo and Can . we have enough strikers when all fit with Ings, Origi, Studge and even Firmino.

If Chelsea show any interest then we should be asking them about a deal that could include Begovic.

A Shelvey/ Allen swap could be good for Liverpool.

WooltonRed

{Ed001's Note - in what way? Shelvey is not that good and has attitude problems, it was good he left to be honest.}
