This time of the year always breaks me. We're either on top of transfers or left in the gutter with them drives me mad.
Anyways life goes on but I can see why coutinho would want to go to Barcelona but I'm sure he also sees why he should stay. Us the fans. But in all honesty if we wanna keep him we got to show more commitment in the transfer market an stop dilly dallying trying to knock a few mill off here an there. Same old same old. I'm sure if we was to go to saints an say right here 55mill for vvd an here's another 5 mill for being bloody stupid. That would sort our defence out. We was offering for 2 players before interest was declared in coutinho well over 100 mill so we have money to spend but seem reluctant to spend it. I we wanna keep coutinho we got to open the purse and show our ambition.

Woody, the interest in Cou dates back to over a year ago. Also, I agree that we must show ambition and we did esp. with Keita. RBL stood their ground and did not relent. I propose that we do the same thing with Cou as clearly it is possible to say no to a bigger club.

Here is a little debate.
If we sell coutinho do we
A look for a world class number 10
B play firmino as a number 10 an look for a top striker.

I think World Class players (depending on your definition) are few and far between. In my mind that is only a handful. Coutinho is probably in that bracket right now I think for his position.
So to go back to your question, I think due to the scarcity of world class players, if it were me I would try and sign the best player we could in either a midfield, forward or striker role and then adjust the team slightly to accommodate that new player.
An example could be as you suggested, moving Firmino slightly girly deeper to accommodate a striker. Another might be changing the system slightly to hold an extra man in the midfield.

I can't think of any world class direct replacement, maybe demand suarez back in the deal and buy a youngster in the number 10 role and hope he comes good . Never going to happen though . Just a wish to see him back in the Liverpool colours.

So maybe Kieta is the replacement. It would be nice if we could sign vvd an Kieta an still have the coutinho money to spend. If that was the case I would be looking for a top (world class) striker. Aguero costa muller those kind of players. Just my thoughts. But then I also think klopp could turn Barkley into a cracking no10. Maybe I shouldn't say that out loud ha.

Why has Can got to 'replace' Coutinho?
Coutinho played in the front 3 last season, and we have replaced him already in there by signing Salah. If Coutinho was to drop back into midfield then that will push Can out the door. If Coutinho goes though, why not make Can first choice to keep him? This is a Germany international people! He doesn't need to do what Coutinho does. People need to get away from the idea of signing a direct replacement. There are very few players like Coutinho, even fewer as good as him, and probably none as good as him who would come to us.
Klopp will need to rethink the system and personally I'd play Hendo and Can in a holding two, with Mane, Gini and Salah in a three, behind Firmino as the leading striker. What is wrong with that? Mane and Salah are both capable of 15-20 goals, Firmino will get around 15, and behind the forward Gini is good for 10-15 goals too. That is already 50+ goals if they all stay fit.
Let go of this obsession with signing direct replacements. It won't happen and I'm shocked by the abuse Can is still getting. He is the next Emre Can, not the next Coutinho.

We need to be better when Coutinho doesn't play.
That midfield without PC last year struggled. That's a fact. Results reflect that and the manger has come out and said it quite clearly too.
So in my mind, your solution is to play the midfield without its best player, not replace him and expect that it will be as good / better?

Could be me but anybody else notice at the end klopp hugging all the players then him an Clyne had a quick handshake an pat on back. Anything in this eds as heard rumours before they don't see eye to eye. Good player would like nothing too be in this. Other than that excellent display under pressure after arsenal took the lead. If coutinho does want a move then all we can do is wish him well squeeze every million we can out of Barca. £70 mill I'd take then that's give us the opportunity to invest in a couple of decent players. Not sure who I would like that's above my pay grade. I would prefer him to stay but in this day an age loyalty is non exsistant. If he stays then I hope the club play him centrally an we match him ambitions with the players we buy. Some of the players were 'linked' with worry me. It's time too stop thinking about the future am buying potentially good kids an start buying proven quality and if that's means £50 mill players then so be it for far to long we have been out muscled in the transfer market we're Liverpool fc an the club an more importantly the fans deserve too wowed in the market. I don't know who I would buy or who I would sell thays klopps department but whatever happens i will 100% back the club an the players who pull that shirt on.

I've always liked welbeck but unfortunately he's a lot like DS, and very injury prone but I'm certain if he was too stay fit for a few seasons he would be a quality addition to a lot of the big clubs. It's only my opinion I just rate the above 3 players I mentioned and think under klopp they could be good additions to our current squad.

I honestly think he would be a decent signing for us. Can play either side aswell. And yes would sooner have coutinho playing but he is another option an maybe it would give coutinho chance to play a little more central to start splitting defences open with some pin point passes into the channels for the pace of willian an mane too run into.
