Was having a meal in the Quarter restaurant in town earlier and Borini was sitting on the next table. I asked if he was going to Inter. He said yes, probably. He also said although he still loves Liverpool he just wants to play football now. He seems a nice guy, good luck to him.

Obviously not the best of times at the moment but just wanted to say I've been impressed by the reaction of Karius in the last few games despite U. S. Losing.

He seems to be very good at getting off his line quickly and spreading himself to block. To the point where I was actually expecting him to keep Weimann out in the last match and was surprised he didn't.

I expect him back in the team for league matches soon on the basis that he's actually made saves in the past month whereas Migs hasn't. The only thing is he hasn't been really tested off crosses in the past few matches and we know that's his weak point.

2.) 29 Jan 2017 16:24:45
He was at fault for both goals yesterday though

3.) 29 Jan 2017 17:02:39
How was he at fault for the second goal, Randall and Moreno were caught out and Weimann got in one on one. No way the second goal was Karius's fault.

4.) 29 Jan 2017 18:02:51
He wasn't at fault for either, first one was bad defending and you can't blame him for the second, it would have taken a great save or a bad finish for that to have stayed out.
He's been quick off his line, made a couple of great saves from close range by spreading himself well and his disrubution has been good too. Fair play to the lad.

5.) 29 Jan 2017 19:39:58
Of course he was at fault for the first. it was headed in from 3 yards!

6.) 30 Jan 2017 16:26:08
Benny, Karius is proving you wrong on current form. Deal with it and stop posting falsehoods. Karius is the reason we were still within a shout of an EFL final due to his MOTM perfs in both legs BUT I know you prolly missed that too.

He was at fault for none of the goals. The first one saw two Wolves players including Stearman offside and was hung out to dry by our defence being all over the shop after losing the ball.

Ed01 if you about just wondered with the whole Gerrard coaching role debate. How did it come about that the club turned to Kenny to become manager (1st time)? Was it always the plan for him to take over one day and it just arrived sooner after Fagan resigning due to Heysel? I think I read somewhere that Phil Neal thought it would be him they turned to as well was there any truth in that? Thanks in advance.

Wolfe

{Ed001's Note - it was a quick decision, nothing had been decided beforehand as it was a shock resignation. Roy Evans was extremely disappointed to be overlooked at the time. Kenny was expected to join the backroom staff, in time, but not like that.}

Thought Lucas did well in defence last night, in the right positions, was talking all the time and made good interceptions. I think he has lost a bit of pace since his injuries. Eds do you see him adapting to that position and Klopp playing him there?

Wolfe

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly possible, his passing out from the back is a major plus point. He certainly has the positional sense.}

1.) 10 Feb 2016 08:34:54
I think he needs to realise he can't win every header, he did give a lot of free kicks away, yes soft fouls but still a foul.

2.) 10 Feb 2016 09:17:36
Wasn't Hummels a CM before Klopp played him at CB?

I noticed Lucas had a pop at Migs a couple of times and one point kicked the ball out instead of a pass back because he didn't come sooner.

If you consider the inexperienced midfield in front and his partner Ilori having very limited game time, he was exceptional.

It must have been the only game where he didn't get a yellow card even though he was in prime position to get one. That again shows how well and controlled he was.

3.) 10 Feb 2016 10:22:58
And he is used to contesting for headers against tall strikers and winning more than he goes for so he is also quite strong in the air.

4.) 10 Feb 2016 15:26:42
And his communications is so far ahead of anyone else's it's shocking. Last guy who gesticulated, pointed, and guided his players that much was Carra.

I agree about giving Stewart a shot. I think he was unlucky not to get a chance in the Sunderland game.

I said this a couple of days ago. I agree, providing Lucas is fit then I'd like to see him there and see how it develops. He reads the game superbly.

I'd like to see Lucas given a run of games at the back when fit. Think he reads the game really well from centre back.

I was at a Ronnie Whelan testimonial event as a kid and Nicol was there he was great. He had a race with a fella to see who could down a pint and he easily won. Whelan was drinking a pint of wine! Both very nice fellas who hung around all afternoon getting pictures taken and they were happy to speak to everyone. To top the day off I won the signed Ronnie Whelan shirt, great day and a time when there was a closer link between the players and fans.
