Rumblings (not just from Twitter) about Lambert plus £30 million for Benteke. Sounds realistic.

WiseLFC

1.) 13 Jul 2015 20:11:58
Basicay release clause but we free up wage space so can see why it would appease both sides

2.) 13 Jul 2015 20:24:28
Nah, it wouldn't have dragged on so long if we were willing to pay £30m, what difference is £2m for our supposed top target?

3.) 13 Jul 2015 22:40:13
Lambert could have gone in January for £5m (fee agreed with Villa); I can't see us paying top price and reducing our fee for Lambert by 50%. So maybe the deal will come off but not at £30m + Lambert IMO

Could the news of Sakho going out on loan be a clever ploy by Klopp to get Sakho to pull his socks up and regain his place?

WiseLFC

1.) 23 Aug 2016 14:11:18
No it means he's going on loan.
It's up to sakho to pull his socks up, seems klopps through with him.

2.) 23 Aug 2016 14:16:51
How long a loan? A season? Or a few months? I still feel he could be an asset this season.

{Ed002's Note - The club want him gone but are unable to sell him.}

3.) 23 Aug 2016 16:31:25
Another embarrassing decision by the club considering other CBs we have.

4.) 23 Aug 2016 17:03:00
Embarrassing? Sakho put himself in this position with poor decision making.

5.) 23 Aug 2016 19:24:11
I think this will be Klopp's decision and the club and the fans always have to back the manager over any player.

6.) 23 Aug 2016 22:21:42
Dissapointed but like ron will support klopp on this one. Whether it will bite klopp on the derrier or not time will tell. But its clear he has lost patience with him and maybe its best he moves on. Sorry for my overuse of derrier atm, in paris with my son so emersing myself in the culture. 😁.

16 Aug 2016 08:49:02
Ed's - if Sahko did leave, we would be left with 3 centre backs. Lucas can cover but may leave (although currently injured) . Gomez injured. Klopp would be forced to dip into the transfer market again. However, Medel can play in that position too.

WiseLFC

{Ed002's Note - Gomez will be fit soon.}

1.) 16 Aug 2016 09:42:27
We cannot keep buying just to cover injuries.

Gomez will be fit soon, and as Square Tomato said the other day, he was told he will get chances.

That leaves us with 4 CB.

2.) 16 Aug 2016 09:49:24
I'm with Kaizer, the purpose of having 4 CBs is so you have one on the bench and one to cover for injuries. If two are injured you use emergency cover from the first team or bring in someone from the u-23s on the bench. If 3 are injured you're just really unlucky.

3.) 16 Aug 2016 10:34:35
Refer to the fiasco that will be remembered forever as"Caulker".
We don't need a repeat.

4.) 16 Aug 2016 13:23:58
As I thought we had done when I was away for a few days, couldn't get any news and hear some people next to on the plane mention that we had signed Woodgate. I was almost catatonic!

29 Jul 2016 18:46:45
Does anyone think that Liverpool need a playmaker in their side or has the game changed in that most teams deploy defencive midfielders with creativity coming from the wings, fullbacks pushing forward or a creative player in behind the forward?

WiseLFC

1.) 29 Jul 2016 18:58:27
I realise Liverpool are overloaded with midfielders. It does seem the game has changed in this respect, especially in the Premiership Gone are the days of Alonso, a player we all admired (intelligent, brilliant vision. need I go on) .

2.) 29 Jul 2016 19:00:55
Coutinho, Firmino, Georginio

Hendo doesn't get the credit he deserves for his passing range and can be that player from deep, as could Can who brings the ball out well and with coaching might do something more productive with it.

3.) 29 Jul 2016 19:27:29
What would you describe Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana as?

4.) 29 Jul 2016 19:34:19
I like Hendo and yes, he does have a good range of passing and a great engine. However, he's not a quality passer of the ball in the mould of Alonso. Alonso always had time on the ball a bit like Molby.
Coutinho and Firmino don't have the range of passing that Alonso had/ has and I can't judge Georginio until I have watched him closely. Coutinho is quick, full of tricks and fond of quick short passes to instigate attacks. Firminho as Ed001 mentioned works his socks off both on and off the ball and try's things other players wouldn't think of. Firminho will become more vital to the team once he finds a better level of consistency. He can score goals though and that's the beauty of the team Klopp is moulding together.
Going back to my original question, out and out playmaker's are a dying trade in the premiership.

It seems LFC have accepted a 13 million bid from Stoke City for Joe Allen according to This is Anfield. YNWA.

WiseLFC

1.) 20 Jul 2016 21:35:35
Wish him well, like him as a guy. He really improved last year and you couldn't wish for a better squad player. He never complained, kept working and gave it his all. However he wouldn't be in the Man U, man city, Tottenham or Chelsea squad so if we want to compete he shouldn't be in ours.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 21:47:09
Also interested how he has gone down in value? With these inflated prices, him having a decent season and a great European championships we should be getting what we paid. I do understand the argument he's unwanted at Liverpool and was wanted at Swansea but still.

3.) 20 Jul 2016 21:57:31
Year left on his contract. So £14m is a good result.

4.) 20 Jul 2016 21:58:07
Wirral I think it's do to with him having a year left and klopp saying he needed to find a solution for his future.

5.) 20 Jul 2016 23:41:15
its okay sell lil joe, great servant

sign kovacic and have some real quality midfield options.

6.) 21 Jul 2016 00:13:10
Plus a "great" European Championships isn't true. He was very poor in Wales' final 2 games when he came up against higher quality opponents.

Still really do wish we Joe all the best.

YNWA.

Ed's, a couple of questions. Firstly, do you think Klopp's intense full throttle training methods may exasperate our injury list further? Under BR, I felt many of the players didn't look 100% fit. It seems Klopp demands the players are at their peak (as he should). I know this has happened several times before, not necessarily with Liverpool. Secondly, what are your thoughts on the interesting articles emerging about about ACL injuries in 2015 and the boots the players where wearing when injured? It seems Nike has a lot to answer for if proven. Ings and Gomez both wore Nike boots. Thanks YNWA

WiseLFC

{Ed001's Note - Klopp's methods will not exasperate it, the lack of fitness will be an issue, but over time it should lead to less injuries as the players become stronger.

This has been known for a while, there have been links to different types of studs etc for years, but nothing is being done. It is odd when the sportspeople are worth so much to the clubs, yet they are so unprofessional in the way they manage them and the equipment they use.}

1.) 16 Oct 2015 13:54:22
Ed001, not really relevant I know, but you seem rather educated in all things football. What boots do you consider the best in this modern day? I've been looking at purchasing a pair of pantofola d'oro's recently, what do you think? Also, has anyone noticed how absurdly ridiculous it is to find a pair of boots that aren't illuminous pink or green! What happened to good old fashioned black?!

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea to be honest, and it is really a personal preference thing.}

2.) 16 Oct 2015 14:57:52
I strongly advice everyone i know against wearing Nike boots. They're more style than substance imo

3.) 16 Oct 2015 15:10:11
Ed1 with quite a few injuries mate, which players do you see getting a chance from the U21s or who so you feel is more ready mate?

4.) 16 Oct 2015 16:10:57
Adidas Copa Mondial. They're not 'sexy, ' but they're a quality built boot -- German made, incidentally, not some sweatshop in south-east Asia -- with quality materials. They've been made since about 1980-ish, and while they haven't changed much, it's for a reason. They're a moderate price, generally, but genuine quality. The only thing they lack, perhaps, is a bit of sexiness. But if you're not looking for neon, that's probably not your concern.

{Ed023's Note - My favourite boots to wear}

5.) 16 Oct 2015 16:20:50
I live in Spain and generally they are mostly 3g pitches where I am based. A lad who plays for the team I do had his brand new (expensive) Nike boots for "Artificial/ 3G pitches". 2nd time he wore them he went into a challenge and his boot ripped clean in half and had it not been for the opponent pulling out of the Challenge he could have had a nasty injury himself. Boots are getting more expensive, yet more flimsy and less protective and last less time. Rediculous! Gimme a pair of Puma kings any day!

6.) 16 Oct 2015 16:20:50
Adidas Copas are quality boots. I've always had a soft spot for Puma Kings as well. Both good boots.

7.) 16 Oct 2015 16:28:49
Ahoy – was always a Patrick man myself (Keegan, Liverpool, Platini & Diablo models were my 4 career favourites)

{Ed023's Note - All the users named Patrick step forward, Boiled Onions is looking for a date}

8.) 16 Oct 2015 16:37:44
Note to all Patricks – I’m not that easy you’ve got to take me to the pictures first (hint -you stand a better chance if you’re wearing Lois courdroy’s too)

{Ed023's Note - LOL}

9.) 16 Oct 2015 16:38:29
Or even exacerbate

10.) 16 Oct 2015 18:03:56
Adidas world cups also.

11.) 16 Oct 2015 19:07:34
Do they still make adidas predator? What a pair of boots they were, I think I had the ones Stevie had in 01/02 season with the grip on the inside for curve apparently lol. Cost me 120 quid but lasted me a good few years.

12.) 16 Oct 2015 20:33:17
Adidas Copa Mudial is the best brand of boots of all time.

13.) 16 Oct 2015 22:20:57
Copa Mundials are the best for everything, bar a competitive game. Depends what standard you're playing, but I doubt you'll see many Copa's the higher up you play. I do have a pair, but rate the Adipure I or the Accelerator as the best I've used for a competitive game.

Old school Puma kings were good too. Mizuno have had some decent pairs, Umbro Speciali, Alan Shearer specials were top boots too. Tunits killed it with a few pairs also. Ah, just name practically every boot, lol.

Surely it would have made more sense to send Randall out on loan and keep Flanno! Flanno's fitness will improve but I guess it's all about getting regular game time.

Back in the day we had a leader at the back and a midfield general. I'm thinking Souness and McMahon, I don't see that player now.

If we did go for Medel, surely Lucas would look to leave. Medel would be great as he's such a good organiser and reads the game so well.

Good call Eamon! I think he will surprise a few once he gets used to Liverpool's style and the pace of the English game. I still have not seen Matip play in a red shirt, although I watched him play for Schalke several times. There are not many quick, assured CB's in the premiership, I think he'll fit in well.
