I haven't felt this nervous about tonight's semi since I watched broke back mountain.

You mean, 'I haven't been this nervous about a semi since you watched Broke Back Mountain'?

2.) 11 Jul 2018 18:30:21
I just want to see Hendo, Trent or Lovren stick one in the top corner to be honest.

Great joke by the way 😂.

3.) 11 Jul 2018 18:45:39
Lmao wires!

4.) 11 Jul 2018 19:33:55
LOL, classic Amrit!

5.) 11 Jul 2018 20:54:33
I wasn't nervous until England pulled out a classic performance.

They have defended 1 goal for 70 minutes and then defended a 1-1 for 23

Croatia are on something because there all aba 45 and running around like spring chickens after 2 extra time games. What the absolute f.

6.) 11 Jul 2018 23:23:49
OP, why were you nervous about watching Broke Back Mountain, exactly?

7.) 11 Jul 2018 23:23:49

I think the joke has gone over you’re head BR. Do we need to explain to what a semi is?

Regarding Karius.
I do think it's disgusting that he's getting so much stick from 'so called' fans and social media.
Pre season is about trying to gain match fitness and match sharpness, and is where mistakes are going to happen.
Before the CL final, he was performing well and most definitely contributed to how well we did. It has been proved that he was concussed during the final, which of course is going to affect his performance.
The threats from a small minority of idiots and the social media bashing from so called Liverpool fan sites is absolutely appalling. Whatever happened to YNWA? It's a myth that's only used when it suites and in reality is a gimmick or slogan for a bumper sticker or T shirt.
I for one will support Karius and every other LFC player as long as they wear the shirt, try their best and continue to try to improve, and hope that any challenges or dip in form, they will pull through.

Wires

1.) 11 Jul 2018 12:35:24
The threats are inexcusable the stick is part of the job, he clearly isn't good enough and needs replacing, Klopp has to defend him in public I know, but im hoping behind the scenes the scouts are in overdrive to find a replacement or hopefully Ward will take his place.

2.) 11 Jul 2018 13:36:48
Spot on, OP. Lancaster, I respect your opinion. IMO, Had Karius not made the errors he made in the CL (while being concussed by the way), all he would have done would be to earn a full season (this season) to get the job full time and show us if he is the solution. That is all.

And before that final, he had for the most part, earned the job full time at least for this coming season. And then, Kiev happened. Klopp wanted Allisson BUT it ain't happening so Karius is who you have, like it or not. And btw even if Karius has a brilliant preseason, it still would not have proved a damned thing either so no conclusions could have been drawn anyway.

As the OP said, preseason and Friendlies are for match sharpness and to see the amount of bile coming from "supporters" after A FRIENDLY is something I am not surprised to see as it is par for the course. See Lovren.

3.) 11 Jul 2018 19:08:09
Wires,

I understand you are the sensible one and detest the ones giving out death threats. Such behaviour cannot be absolved for any rationality let alone a poor game of football. I think most of us here would share similar values. However, I am not sure such threats from a minority would have passed him to a world of depression. He was, in fact very received by the supporters at Chester. While I empathise with his situation as a professional from an entirely different field; yet I am unwilling to attribute all his future mistakes, if any, to the insistence of the ever-complaining fan base.

Yes, he was a big improvement on Mignolet. Yes, he made some very good saves. Ones against Newcastle and Everton comes to mind. (Bolasie's curler and Diame's shot were surely going in. There are some more decent saves, few against Southampton and quickly coming off the blocks to save a couple against Tottenham weren't bad either) .

However, the second soft goal he conceded off Bale (and most likely owing to the concussion probably) was a mirror image of a catastrophe he had committed earlier against Roma in the first leg off Kolarov. Also, another crucial mistake that could have cost us dearly in the second leg against Roma was when he came running out, dived and fouled Djeko when we were leading 7-3 on aggregate. It could/ should have been a penalty and chances of him sent off was equally likely as well. Another mistake that comes to mind was his terrible punching of a soft cross from Man City in the last minute of the away leg. It ended up being in the net, but we were lucky that day.

So, to say everything was rosy before the CL final, may not be quite right. But the other mistakes I mentioned are such ones which most decent goalies in the world would probably have made in the last few months and had gone unnoticed. We are understandably more riled up about it as I understand our frustration levels as fans are slightly on a more eminent degree.

Regards,
Das.

I wonder if Origi could be used in the transfer of Fekir where Origi plus a cash offer could be suitable for all parties.?

{Ed002's Note - Why would Lyon want Liverpool's cast off?}

1.) 06 Jun 2018 13:08:07
Have you never heard of that well known, famous phrase. One teams cast off is another teams star player. 😉😂.

2.) 06 Jun 2018 13:15:15
But Brendan Rodgers said he was going to be "World Class".

3.) 06 Jun 2018 14:13:19
Maybe he can buy him again for Celtic.

4.) 06 Jun 2018 14:16:09
Didn’t we buy an Inter Milan cast off once? And sold him to Barcelona for £142M (ish)

5.) 06 Jun 2018 15:53:01
The Inter Milan thing wasn't the same at all.

6.) 06 Jun 2018 16:46:34
bit of a silly comment from Ed 02 as unless im mistaken wasnt Cantona Berkamp Henry all someone elses cast offs
Salah was Chelsea cast off as was de bruyn
Sometimes a change of manager and team can work wonders and Origi is not crap
If balotelli can bang in goals in France then their is hope for anyone.

7.) 06 Jun 2018 17:23:26
Plus Lyon aren't as good as Liverpool. One man's rubbish is another man's gold.

11 Mar 2018 12:55:27
I don't know if this has been asked before, but I have a question.
Why is it that anyone who dives is (quite rightly) ostracised by fans and pundits alike, who accuse him or her of cheating (Ali springs to mind), yet when a player deliberately fouls another player to prevent an attack or attempt on goal it's seen as "taking one for the team" and isn't seen as a bad move by pundits. In fact it's applauded as smart play
How is it that diving is seen as morally disgusting and the other is applauded and clever.

Wires

1.) 11 Mar 2018 13:17:24
Surely you could work this one out yourself Wires.

I'm not having a go at you but if you can't see the difference between a tactical foul where you risk personal punishment on behalf of the team against purposefully cheating, trying to win penalties, as well as con referees into sending fellow professionals on the opposition team off, or have them yellow carded, important decision cheated from them and possibly receiving fines as well as bad media plus potentially indirectly causing fickle fans to get on the cheated player's back, then you're possibly missing the point of it being a professional sport.

2.) 11 Mar 2018 13:26:19
It’s a good point it’s all cheating, but there is just something that’s incredibly embarrassing about a grown man rolling round the floor pretending to be injured, it’s shameful. Big grown lads who are meant to be tough, you don’t see it in the women’s game.

3.) 11 Mar 2018 14:12:15
I’m actually quite relieved that we don’t see grown men rolling around in the women’s game. Unless the women are laying underneath them - that would be worth watching.

4.) 11 Mar 2018 16:00:31
Mikey, you made a very good post, united played anti football 2nd half, and it was embarrissing to watch them waste time, a few of our players went forward to the ref when smalling went down, awful, nothing wrong with him, seeing them, more so young, taking ages before he took a throw in, all to slow the game down,
and don't get me talking about the ref, the one who gave everton that penalty, so you just knew that he would not be giving us much .

5.) 11 Mar 2018 16:19:17
I totally agree wires.

6.) 11 Mar 2018 17:54:53
The reason diving is punished worse is its a deliberate attempt to con the referee. When you make a professional foul, you know you've done it, the ref knows, and you get booked.

I know this is not Liverpool related, so not surprised if this isn't posted but.
How must Arsenal fans be feeling? Maybe there are some players that they are quite glad are leaving but with the OX seemingly arriving and the potential of Sanchez leaving and no apparent arrivals, the club seem to be in complete disarray.

The first team in Premier League history that has had the manager lose the dressing room and decided to get rid of the dressing room instead of the manager.

When reading a lot of these posts, I usually just look out for the eds replies. Especially ed02.
When reading his posts, it is usually followed by a sharp intake of breath as I'm not sure whether he is being serious or a WUM, it is then usually followed up with a giggle as I then read people losing their sh*t at ed02 responses and the DF's that have absolutely no sense of humour whatsoever.
Keep it up eds.

Whilst I don't disagree with the list of players who look likely to leave, the rest of the post I won't take too much notice of until it happens. The one thing that puzzles me though is where you get this figure of £23m for benteke. where have you got this figure from?

Hi ed001
If a replacement goalkeeper is a priority, then that suggests migs will be sold in the summer, so was his contract extension an attempt to put some extra value on migs for resale or a mistake that they have very quickly realised?

With toure leaving, I would only sell skrtel and keep the rest. Sakho and Lovren have shown glimpses of being good defenders until injury has stopped their progress. Ilori and Gomez are good backup, with potential.
I would focus on the fullbacks, with Clyne and Moreno needing to step up or shipped out, and a new first choice keeper with migs also being sold. I also think that more work should be done on defensive midfield to protect the back 4.
The rest of the squad needs trimming with Milner and Allen to leave from midfield and balo, lallana and benteke to leave from attack. I like lallana, but I agree with ed1 in that he slows things down and takes too many touches, but he is a good player.
With markovic to come back after his loan spell, we have the makings of a good squad and with klopp having a preseason with the squad, we could make huge strides forward next year.
In my opinion we do not need to buy too many players and go through another period of transition, with the keeper being the priority and maybe fullbacks if they can't cut the mustard but nothing else is needed.
As the saying goes in trading places, it's time to sell, sell, sell.

I haven't read the whole thread, and only read what the eds have written, but regarding Mane, didn't he have a dodgy second season when at Southampton, but then found his form again.

I must admit that it was very painful to watch. However every top team will have a performance like that, it's just that city, for example, would find a way to not only draw, but win the game.
What's also as frustrating is we had a chance to increase the gap between us and Spurs/ Arsenal and failed to take advantage. Grrrrrrrr.
it was good to see Ings and Lallana getting more minutes. Maybe need to consider woodburn as an alternative to mane while he's struggling. Can and gini are good squad players but there is a lack of flare and pace in the midfield which I'm sure Klopp has in hand.
Let's hope that that performance was just a blip and we'll be back on form for our next game.

I think it unfair the criticism that Karius got after the game from the pundits. They are so quick to jump all over him for that one mistake, yet not one pundit mentioned the city keepers mistake which lead to salah' goal. they spent a good few minutes talking about not being beat at the near post etc, but nothing on the bad clearance from the city keeper.
