Does anyone think it was Aitor Karanka that Macca was telling us?

my concern for next season is Milner and Henderson as starters, and we repeats this season without a doubt.

Henderson will be captain, so will probably start most matches, a player we dearly missed last season and a player that clearly improves the team, Milner had a very good season last season and is a player we can rely on.

2.) 08 Jun 2016 17:28:03
I don't quite understand this. Milner started off a bit shaky but grew into his role. He's done well for us but, because he's not scoring like it's going out of fashion, people want rid. Sigh.

3.) 08 Jun 2016 17:39:27
I just don't understand posts like these. I agree we need a better midfielder, but these two are not the worst we have. Milner was one of the best players ranked in Europe. Based on performances though I would definitely say he should be kept as a utility player but only if we actually bring in players that improve the first 11 otherwise he probably starts. Henderson is our captain, all these calls for can to be captain makes no sense what so ever. Henderson is ahead of can in every sense, just because of a setback doesn't mean he should suddenly be shipped out. That's like saying sell Sturridge because we have origi. I think if we want to improve on our midfield and still start hendo and can (which is a partnership that lacks in key areas at the moment) then we play 3 in midfield with either a defensive midfielder that allows can and hendo to push up, or have can and hendo sitting with a genuine attacking midfielder (not a number 10) brought in. Either way I agree that we do need a more quality midfielder but I'm not worried at all about keeping Milner or Henderson even in the first team.

4.) 08 Jun 2016 17:56:43
Where was Milner during the second half against Sevilla? Wasn't he supposed to be our captain? Was there a malfunction on the dressing-room door?

5.) 08 Jun 2016 18:25:39
Most of the side didn't turn up you want to replace them too?

6.) 08 Jun 2016 19:00:18
Most of the side weren't our captain nor did they have 60 international caps ( don't forget the one goal ) .

Perhaps he was auditioning for the Invisible Man. Great guy but wasted on a football pitch. Bags of potential, though!

7.) 08 Jun 2016 19:43:22
Wanting to eject a player for one bad game is as bad as wanting to sign a player based on one good game!

8.) 08 Jun 2016 18:55:49
We would be buying at least one more midfielder this window who would be a first teamer. I don't see Milner playing a lot coming season unless it's necessary. Henderson would be rotated along with Grujic and the new midfielder while Stewart would cover up Can.
That's the plan for the coming season.

9.) 08 Jun 2016 21:48:41
The EL final showed that most areas of our first team need major work. Defence needed reshaping and better organization and that's before we mentioned LB. Midfield is lacking any sort of defensive nous, both in how to defend the spaces or read the game and no physical strength at all. Too many players get bullied of the ball or forced into silly mistakes. Midfield has no balance with the main midfield trio of Can, Hendo and Milner playing a too similar game. Most just didn't turn up in too many games throwing silly points away at important times meaning we couldn't gather any momentum. No major squad overhaul needed but some important changes to be made in my opinion.

Long will be a good signing. like cfc under AG did with Anelka in his twelight career over the years back when Drogba went for AFCON Championship. he was brought to paper the cracks, which he did perfectly and went on to achieve some success. so who knows, Long might come and surprise many. after all Firmino is yet to return the favor of fans expectation here when he first sign and it is 5months now, besides Long and Firmino have something in common, they both scored brace vrs afc. by the start of the season if we were linked to Vardy many would have killed Rodgers. football is a unique and strange game, we have to see positive in every doing our manager untill he is gone. Klopp is the gaffer?

1.) 20 Jan 2016 01:48:49
Long's highest goal scoring tally in the PL was 8. And that was several years back. He's a hard worker and probably a better fit than Benteke (although most would be), but we simply have to stop giving long term contracts to players who aren't clearly better than what we have.

2.) 20 Jan 2016 01:59:46
I am a fan of Shane long. I don't know why. I just rate him. He could be a kuyt. Who knows. I reckon he and ings together would be pretty damn good. I'm hoping it turns out to be shrewd business and not just cheap business.

As far as our new loan signing goes, sorry, forgot his name at the moment, it's been a long day at work, well. Klopp seems to use him up front or as a holding midfielder rather then a central defender. I find that extremely interesting. He isn't defensive cover. He is a tall option down the middle.

I trust klopp and I'm happy to have a manager with passion and vision. I trust his, and his assembled crews judgement. Sometimes it's the signings that make us go why? Might actually be the best ones. I hope :/.

3.) 20 Jan 2016 02:37:19
Most of fans here are delusional. First we have no $. 2nd its a jan window, most clubs or players don not want to move. Third we are not as attractive a proposition compared to mega rich clubs. We are 3rd tier as we have no UCL football and languishing in midtable. So we really need to patch a hole, a half decent player who can do the job for now without breaking bank, we should.

{Ed001's Note - patching a hole is how we got a hole in the first place. We need to rebuild not patch things up.}

4.) 20 Jan 2016 03:01:25
Rodgers said on goals on sunday "Young Vardy is doing well. he's only going to get better" Vardy is 29!

5.) 20 Jan 2016 07:12:04
Im Irish so i'm slightly bias towards the Irish. I do like Long, most likelt because he's Irish and as much as i'd like to see some green boys wearing the red, he's not good enough. I think he has the right game to suit Klopp but his qualities are close to nothing. We need 20 + a season striker. We already have Origi and Benteke with INgs and Studge (Maybe) to come back. Other than a fit sturridge none of these are the first choice striker we need and adding Long to that ridiculously long list of strikers is shambolic!

6.) 20 Jan 2016 08:33:10
I have to agree with my Irish compatriot Walkon.
I've always liked Long and have been calling for him to start for years, but being a starter for Ireland isn't the same as for Liverpool, even Conor Sammon has started for Ireland for dog's sake. As much as I miss the days of Boys in Green playing for the Reds, I just don't see this rumoured transfer as good business. I would rather keep the money and loan somebody like Jesé or even Rossi and reexamine the situation in the summer.

Eds is there a chance of calling our Nigerian young striker from loan in Germany? as our striking poor form and injuries continues.

Tooka

{Ed002's Note - No. He is not ready for the German second division just yet and is not allowed to play for Liverpool. Liverpool, with all of the recalled players, are yet again a bloated squad of more than 40.}

1.) 15 Jan 2016 10:16:25
He needs a work permit doesn't he?

2.) 15 Jan 2016 17:36:43
He barely makes the bench for fsv in the German second division and when he does he I never used. It look like the lad has a long way to go before being considered for our first team squad.

Wellcome to LFC S. Caulker. i wanted lfc to sign Caulker under Kenny, when he looked promising at horsespurs. and now he couldn't hope for any better manager to work with in Klopp and Buvac guidance. i hope Caulker is ambitious to force the managers attention. and at least, he will help with the aerial presence and won't get bulied so easily.

1.) 12 Jan 2016 23:41:56
Not the worst. Already used to prem life so won't need to adjust, didn't spend 30mil on him and now we have atleast a senior cb available instead of enrique playing there.

2.) 13 Jan 2016 00:39:52
Klopp installed confidence in Origi, so who knows if he can help Caulker to live up to his potential?

3.) 13 Jan 2016 02:42:22
What potential is this.

Under 25 and English.

To ed1, even though he is at a different club now. between Carroll and Benteke who is better? i could remembered Carroll holding the ball on the channels and delivering nice balls accross pernalty yard any time he showed some movement unlike Benteke who doesn't know what to do whenever he gets to that positions with the ball, also he had a powerful left foot when he was to score with his leg. and his apparent weapon on headers was much effective.

Tooka

{Ed001's Note - Benteke is technically better, but Carroll makes more effort. Both are injury prone, but Carroll is a drunken bum who will end up destroying his own career, as Bilic has been trying to tell him of late. I am actually not sure which is better. Benteke should be many times better though, and that tells its own story that it is even a question.}

1.) 09 Jan 2016 18:31:22
Is Carroll that much of a drinker etc? Never realised tbh.

{Ed001's Note - really? Even though we bought him injured after he had fallen off a bar stool while paralytic?}

2.) 09 Jan 2016 18:38:14
I meant now? I thought he had sorted his house out but clearly not!?

{Ed001's Note - not according to Bilic who publicly warned him to stay fit.}

3.) 10 Jan 2016 00:44:22
I hate this 'kind' of player upfront. We've seen it work with the likes of Drogba at other clubs but give me a fast intelligent number 9 at Liverpool anyday!

4.) 10 Jan 2016 01:54:53
Drogba wasn't supposed to make it as a footballer as no academy would take him until he passed a trial at Le Mans. The guy fought and worked hard to get to where he got to as a footballer. If Benteke have a tenth of DD's drive and desire to be great, he would be a beast but he doesn't hence, he won't be.

5.) 10 Jan 2016 09:05:56
Ed i get the feeling its not purely about desire but also about game intelligence with benteke. To me he does not look like a natural forward, i get the impression when i watch him that he would be more suited to a midfield role ala yaya toure where he breaks and scores goals.

But then even in that position would he put the shift in to close down and make tackles etc i don't know.

{Ed001's Note - he would be awful in midfield, as his main problem is a lack of effort to get into goal scoring positions. He would have to run even further from midfield.}

6.) 10 Jan 2016 09:37:31
I agree ed to some extent but is it really about lack of effort to get into the positions or has he not had the required training/ experience/ game intelligence in knowing where and when to move into to right positions. So for instance making an arcing run to ensure you don't break the line for a through ball or peeling off to the back post or to the near post for a cross etc. I feel he could show for tha ball a bit more by coming into midfield and acting as a pivot for attacks.

{Ed001's Note - of course he has had the right training, are you being serious? Do you not think Belgium have striker coaches? Their manager has been very vocal in his criticism of the lack of movement and effort. Klopp has been the same and he has received coaching with us too. It is lack of effort not training and people making excuses for him just allows him to be lazy.}

7.) 10 Jan 2016 10:00:03
I am not making excuses for him ed i guess i am playing devils advocate and trying to understand what the issues are with him.

The other night i watched him run into the box and he stood on the penalty spot motionless just waiting. Not on his toes, not anticipating or moving to the near or far post so he could meet the ball etc and this is what makes me think it does not come naturally to him and hence not all about lazyness.

As i said the other night he must comprehend that if he does not grasp this moment in his career he may never get another chance like this again. He cannot be so naive, so why would he intentionally not try.

{Ed001's Note - if the predatory instinct is not natural there is nothing that can be done with that. You can teach them all you want, but they have to want to do it and he clearly does not. So the only hope would be if it came natural to him, as you said, it obviously doesn't so you just have to accept it. David Ngog was very similar, all the technique in the world, but he was always on his heels and that was what held him back. You just can't do anything with someone who is like that.}

8.) 10 Jan 2016 10:35:59
Re Carroll, not sure if this is public knowledge but he had to go and live with Kevin Nolan whilst at Newcastle because he was always out drinking.

9.) 10 Jan 2016 13:20:59
That is true, RedNick. It was a court order few years ago after he and Nolan had a night out drinking and partying.

But if of any merits to the team. Milner should go first, J. Allen is much better than him.

I said it, there is no consistent defensive unite side in the pl lcfc, afc, spurs, mcfc etc. but those teams deal with set plays very well.

How old is Long? i would be happy if he can press well, his mobility and injuries is an upgrade on Benteke and Sturridge. and he won't be on 120k a week like boring Milner.

The line up was spot on, only issue was poor showing by individuals such Hendo and co. most espercial Hendo, whom many of our best chances falls to, and he seem to be obsess with playing long balls as well.
