Daily star reporting 50m bid from city for sterling in the summer.

Tommy Irish Red

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City have all shown some level of interest in Raheem Sterling although Chelsea have opted for a different player, so will not be considering a bid. Generally, European sides are wary of English players as they tend to struggle to settle in overseas - language, culture, food etc., and that might be enough to curtail the interest of Real Madrid.}

1.) 20 Mar 2015 11:06:47
Apparently he wants 150k a week, nowhere near deserving of that and if the saga carrys on I'd bite their hand off for £50m

2.) 20 Mar 2015 17:38:34
Who is the other player Chelsea have opted for Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Costa.}

3.) 20 Mar 2015 17:57:04
Is the player Chelsea are after is Douglas Costa?

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

4.) 21 Mar 2015 08:07:46
Lerchy, I wouldn't take any note of what sterling is apparently "demanding". Ed002 seems content that Sterling will sign a new deal at some point.

Ed002, News paper, twitter/Facebook or your Grandmothers friends nephew who's married to the cousin of the tea lady at Anfields daughter?

Easy choice.

5.) 23 Mar 2015 15:24:07
phil thompson was over heard in the david lloyds telling his mates that sterling to city is a done deal and that it was talk of executive box yesterday, agent told him to have two years left on his deal an he will get a massive move.

We all have to get real in r expectation of we're liverpool r right now, we can't compete with at least 4 teams in the the league financially r even professionally as the team has shown lately and earlier in the season .if we were a top team we wouldn't have so many players the manager doesn't like r trust the lack of fight in the team when the chips r dwn is the worse I have ever seen and how a manager can sit and watch as it is obvious the lack of strikers is unforgivable changes have to be made I don't know what they r but the current process is not working I would probably start with brendans p45 and put manquillo, Enrique, Allen, toure, ballotelli, borini, Gerrard legend going anyway, Lambert out the door money brought in r saved in wages can go towards players even just 2 top class players good enough to compete with top 4 clubs and my shout for brendans replacement is koeman.

Tommy Irish Red

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been spending more than the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea - the only reason the club cannot compete is because of bad choices over players and having a manager/coach who is light years out of his depth. Look for answers and not excuses.}

1.) 30 Apr 2015 11:28:57
Spot on Ed.

2.) 30 Apr 2015 11:29:49
The comparison with Chelsea is a bit milseading because they were abel to keep all their big players as long as they wanted to. We had to sell Mascherano, Xabi alonso, Torres and finally Suarez. Arsenal are more similar to us in that they had to say goodbye to RVP and Fabregas, two top players and still kept themselves in the top 4 (although not fighting for the title). As I keep saying it is not only about buying great players but also about keeping them.

{Ed002's Note - I know, Liverpool are so hard done by. There should be someone else you can blame for this.}

3.) 30 Apr 2015 11:53:13
Ah that's easy, I blame bob Pendelton, the Everton scout who took Wayne Rooney to Everton when he was 9. had we land him in our academy back then, the history would look very different.

4.) 30 Apr 2015 12:02:33
Not that misleading, they were able to keep players because the won trophies consistently. We finished second then if memory serves correct tried replacing alonso with barry (why he left) then replaced him with aquilini. Instead of adding the 1 or 2 quality signings needed to get us over the line.

Also arsenal lost Henry, Fabregas, Nasri, Song, clichey, and RVP as well as Bendtner & Chamakh-attack. but managed to stay in top 4, not spend money they didn't have, & paid off a stadium.

5.) 30 Apr 2015 12:39:06
We have had the money and wasted it for so long , I think it comes down to the fact that we can't compete wages wise with the other big teams.

The transfer fees haven't been an issue.

Top earners at Liverpool are 120grand a week say , but you go to Manchester and there on double that.

{Ed002's Note - Only a handful of clubs in the world have a higher wage bill than Liverpool - so why are Liverpool only ranked 40 some odd in Europe? It is another pitiful excuse.}

6.) 30 Apr 2015 13:02:39
Im not making excuses ed , we have had the money to spend simple as that which we have wasted.

But it also a fact that top earners at Chelsea,city and united will shadow that of our top earners.

Most of our wage bill Is wasted paying top dollar to players who can't even get a game , that is where our problems are.

No excuses just pointing out a fact

{Ed002's Note - Of the 41 teams ranked above Liverpool in Europe, all but 7 have lower wage bills than Liverpool. It is simply something else to look to as an excuse.}

7.) 30 Apr 2015 15:15:18
Exactly ed and 4 of them are in the prem sitting above us

8.) 30 Apr 2015 16:52:09
I would say that most of the 41 teams above us wouldn't be above us if they played in our league. Because they wouldn't finish high enough to qualify for Europe so therefore wouldn't get the points they get now.Or to put it another way if for arguments sake we played in the Dutch league I predict we would have qualified for CL every season and then there wouldn't be 41 teams above us.Don't forget we play in the hardest league to qualify for CL

{Ed002's Note - You can add that to the list of feeble excuses for this being any ones fault but Liverpool.}

9.) 30 Apr 2015 18:18:44
We simply are not punching our weight where as last year we maybe did a bit more although no Europe league helped us as well . We need to improve

10.) 30 Apr 2015 18:03:55
Sorry ed I will re phase my posts.

The last thing I want is my posts to sound like excuses because that couldn't be further from my thoughts.

If only all our recent managers had stopped with this obsession of building a massive squad capable of winning the quadruple and focused on buying quality rather than quantity, then maybe we wouldn't be in this mess.

Again you look at our squad and there's probably 10 players which we need to offload in the summer most likely losing money on them all.

We have had the money to buy players and blown the lot so instead of getting fringe players and paying then 60grand a week we should have looked at a couple of world class players and paid them the wages they want.

20 Apr 2015 10:27:07
The 1 positive that we can take out of getting outplayed by villa at Wembley is whoever is manager I'm sure would have watched how the spine of the team is not right. a top class midfielder, striker, defender are needed asap unfortunately the owners r going to have to dig deep if we want to progress, I'm not sure if they can but I'm 100 percent sure if we don't bring in some quality a season as bad as Everton fans had to endure is what we can expect next season.Good luck to villa in the final.

Tommy Irish Red

1.) 20 Apr 2015 10:58:07
I agree, although we may need top class midfielders in plural, strikers in plural and defenders in plural.

Of the 16 or 17 players on the pitch and bench yesterday, only two in my view could have made it to the starting 11 of Chelsea or Arsenal (or City or United): Sterling and Coutinho (though Coutinho is very similar in his style and product to Oscar who usually comes from the bench in chelsea). Sterling looks as if he indded will be in the starting 11 of one of these clubs next season. Henderson, Can, Skertl and Ming, as much as I like them, would be on chelsea or Arseanl's bench at best. I do rate Sturridge, Sackho, Lallana and Lucas but each of them had at least 3 seperate and lengthy injury spells this year so hard to rely on them.

so a serious and costly overhaul is required. I doubt very much it will happen and even if yes it my take years to have a difference. Tough days are coming, and I personally lowered my expectations consideraly for next season. Less expectations less pain - at least as a fan who cannot do anything about it. I just hope it doesn't get much worse.

For me after the Chelsea two legs in the league cup and the city game, I really thought we were a match for anyone in the league but right now I am really worried going into a cup match with an average championship club, how did it all get to this r has this weakness been there even last year, with us conceding over 50 goals and still coming 2nd only problem this year goals haven't come as easy quality not being replaced has to be the reason.To quote a liverpool legend who has worked with the greatest coaches ever Roy Evans said too many players played out a position.

Tommy Irish Red

1.) 05 Apr 2015 01:16:12
Simon Mignolet's out of position. He should be playing in the Scottish second division.

2.) 05 Apr 2015 08:13:45
I have said it all along that he builds a squad, 2 players for each position and overlooks them and plays a square peg. He brings on a sub and often switches 3 players around to do so. Rant over.

3.) 05 Apr 2015 13:22:25
Playing square pegs in round holes must be the trait of a brilliant manager in the PL these days. Lol

04 Apr 2015 17:03:12
Does Can miss the Blackburn game now if so toure sakho lovren should be good enough for them r is these bad performances going to garry on COYR.

Tommy Irish Red

1.) 04 Apr 2015 17:11:53
He does miss the game I think. We might as well just play just Sakho.

30 Mar 2015 10:37:24
According to the mail sterling will not sign a contract extension even if an offer of 180k a week offer is made, looks like we r going to lose another good player this summer hope we find better players this summer.We have ballotelli, borini, Lambert all 3 could well be heading away in the summer if sterling goes also 4 New strikers needed that's too much for 1 window especially considering we have financial difficulties according to eds.

Tommy Irish Red

1.) 30 Mar 2015 11:06:06
"According to the Mail"

Stopped reading there, m8.

2.) 30 Mar 2015 11:26:12
Cash out while he still commands an outrageous fee I say!
If it were true that he has turned down 180k a week then what would his agent demand when he actually becomes good

3.) 30 Mar 2015 12:04:12
Sterling will probably leave in the summer along with balo, Borini and lambert. But that does not mean we need 4 new strikers to join. Borini and Sterling have already been replaced by Ibe and Origi while Sinclair/Ojo could take Lambert's place in the squad. The only one that needs replacing is balotelli and i hope the club goes for a quality replacement than someone like Ings or Austin who are squad players at best.

4.) 30 Mar 2015 12:26:01
You shouldn't embarrass yourself by repeating anything the mail publishes.

5.) 30 Mar 2015 12:32:03
If you actually read the article, it's another sensationalist headline that actually says 'it's not going to be discussed again until the summer'. That's it

6.) 30 Mar 2015 12:51:23
My concern is that we offered any player 180k. We simply can't afford that, let alone on a player that is being carried by the rest of the team. So I'll say the story is nonsense, however if true, I'm very worried who's running the club.

{Ed001's Note - it is not true mate.}

7.) 30 Mar 2015 13:07:33
Definitely time to make a shrewd sale of this very talented but seriously overhyped player.
I think given all the hype, he is likely to fetch a price that could be double his real value, in terms of what he contributes to a team- and certainly looking at his contribution to this season.
With ffp, shouldn't we be looking for shrewd financial deals like that, especially when we have other young players ready to step in that are just as good or maybe even better?

{Ed001's Note - and then sell them as soon as they have a dip in form for the next young thing? You need to hold on to a talent to develop it fully or you never go anywhere as a club.}

8.) 30 Mar 2015 14:55:14
Agree Ed.
If Sterling goes then what does it say to other young players like Ibe, Sinclair etc.
Are we just a selling club now, or do we want to get to the top of the tree?
If we are serious about sustaining a period at the very top of our league then players like Raheem are essential in my opinion.
He is certainly not the finished article but I would like to see the finished article in a Liverpool shirt rather than another shirt.
I have yet to see a quote from Raheem so I will consider it all as paper talk until then.

9.) 31 Mar 2015 03:18:50
I don't believe any of the tripe in the Daily Mail.

Gerry Francis a coach at Wba more or less made a laugh of liverpool on sky sports yesterday for klopp and players acknowledging the fans in a positive manner. personally I would love to get back to the days when teams and players of this class were sent away with nothing but a good hiding. klopp will hopefully implement this.
