Being reported we've signed a striker called Hardy from Brentford some former Man City academy trainee.

Hi Eds
Any thoughts about the futures of Moreno, Illori and Markovic?
Personally I would to see them given a fair chance to impress next season.

Sukhyrai

{Ed001's Note - I do not expect us to sell any of them, we are asking a high price.}

is William (Chelsea) really in dicussions with Liverpool over a free transfer.
Who would he replace? Lallana, Shaqiri?

Sukhyrai

{Ed002's Note - Another illegal approach then? He prefers the right to the left so will be a Salah replacement.}

1.) 23 Apr 2020 16:35:17
Seems a strange rumour this. He’s old, would command high wages, and isn’t fit to lace Salahs boots.

2.) 23 Apr 2020 20:20:07
Willian isn't any sort of replacement but it seems with werner and Willian as the rumours something could be happening.

3.) 24 Apr 2020 08:09:43
Ed002 thanks. Tapping up illegal approaches have been going on for years. Why aren't the people at the top doing more about it? It can have serious implications for smaller clubs, disrupting generally their best player. Even big clubs, I'm sure most on here would be annoyed if one of our best players was tapped up and wanted to leave. Its happened to us in the past and leaves a bitter taste. Could happen to Mane maybe not Salah.
Is it just arrogance from bigger clubs?

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs and the authorities have worked to eradicate it from the game. Bigger clubs are not the issue.}

4.) 24 Apr 2020 11:26:35
He’s a free agent this summer so I thought they were allowed to talk to other clubs from 6 months prior? May be wrong?

{Ed002's Note - Yes you are wrong - it would simply be another illegal approach from Liverpool. However, as I have explained I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool to Chelsea, his representative or the player.}

5.) 24 Apr 2020 14:23:46
OP, I read that report as well and did not believe it for a second.

6.) 24 Apr 2020 19:08:15
@Paul the Red. Only clubs from abroad can approach him in the last 6 months of his contract.

Is that correct Ed002 or can other domestic teams from other divisions hold talks?

{Ed002's Note - Paul the Red is correct. We have been through this many, many times.}

No Premier League football this weekend. Hate the winter break already!

Sukhyrai

1.) 08 Feb 2020 09:42:08
There are four matches on in the Premier league this weekend. The winter break is staggered so there is always a match on, probably for TV rights rather than anything else. Sometimes it's nice to watch other teams when there is less worry of a chasing pack.

2.) 08 Feb 2020 09:59:17
There’s Nottingham Forest v Leeds Utd at tea time today too, although it clashes with the rugby from Murrayfield.

3.) 08 Feb 2020 12:28:08
Forest Leeds will be a tasty game. Don't watch much champ footy but that does sound exciting. I keep waiting for Leeds to capitulate. Don't think it'll happen this year but you never know.

4.) 08 Feb 2020 13:35:32
There is a mouth-watering Bayern v RB Liepzig in the Bundesliga this weekend. Football is STILL alive and well.

5.) 09 Feb 2020 07:05:40
It's been underway for a few weeks Robbie. Leeds won't get top 2.

What's everyone's favourite transfer window?
Mine is probably the first I remember 1987 when we signed Barnes, Beardsley Aldridge and houghton I believe. Obviously the windows were a lot longer and the only way I knew how what these players looked like was Pannini sticker album.

1.) 19 Jun 2019 10:31:02
This'll sound weird and ill get a tonne of thumbs down, but i was well impressed with houllier. When he signed hypia, henchoz, babel, westerveld, camara, meyer, a whole new squad really. Unluckily owen and fowler were out a lot and i think we had that german who could head well too. Karl heinze readler? So camara played a lot. He skied loads but scored some crackers too. Meyer was a flop of course. Can anyone else remember some other decent signings that window? I remember it was the year gerrard broke through. Played twice at right back and by the end of the season was being compared with viera.

Alonso, reina mach etc was a gooden. didn't we get the gorgeous luis garcia too?

2.) 19 Jun 2019 10:36:49
I used to love the days of going to get the echo to see who we had signed now we are all guilty of needing to know everything yesterday . Although the information we get now especially on here has gave me such more appreciation for football as a game and business . Although kind of makes u not like players aswell when u hear the crazy demands . I’d love to swap jobs for a week see ho why would get on plastering . (Milner robbo&henderson would be ok ) IMO.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 11:06:20
The 3 full seasons under Klopp have been very successful in the transfer market. There just seems to be 3 great signings every year.

First was Mane, Gini and Matip.

Second was Robbo, Salah and Ox.

Third was Virgil, Fab and Alisson.

All 9 of those guys went on to be regulars. Even guys like Manninger, Klavan, Shaqiri etc have all served a purpose too. Only bad signings Klopp has made from memory are Keita, Caulker and Karius. Keita still has a very good chance to turn it around though if he stays and fights for it.

4.) 19 Jun 2019 13:57:11
When we was linked with the 3 best strikers in world football at the time. Torres, Eto'o and David Villa.
And in the end we chose the best one although all brilliant.

5.) 19 Jun 2019 14:12:05
Got to be 2008/ 09 season

Phillip Degen
David Ngog
Albert Riera

😱.

6.) 19 Jun 2019 14:18:10
I think I keita has done well on the pitch when he has played I know Ed's have said he has off the field issues have any of these issues improved I've heard he can speak English now but that's from a mate in the gym.

7.) 19 Jun 2019 14:32:01
Not my favorite summer because my favorite player left, but I see the summer of 1977 as being one of the most impactful in the history of the club. Kevin Keegan left and Kenny Dalglish arrived. The rest is history.

There is an article in the NY Times and also I think some mention in Liverpool Echo. It talks about Ian Graham one of the data analyst at Liverpool. Fascinating reading.
Any of the eds expand the data analysts impact at Liverpool?

Sukhyrai

{Ed001's Note - this was actually discussed on a lengthy thread on the discussion page the other day. The data analysts are taking an increasingly large role in decision making within the club, though, as they themselves say, the data points are so small in football that they can't mitigate for tiny amounts of luck etc.

Interestingly I believe the one of the main factors in Buvac's bust up with Klopp was apparently down to his increasing reliance on the analysts. Buvac is more old school.}

1.) 28 May 2019 18:08:21
Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

2.) 28 May 2019 18:17:41
Hi ed, what word do I search for to access that thread from the archives? I tried Ian Graham, data and at. Your help will be appreciated.

My thoughts are with Leicester City and the family of the owners this morning. So sad, they seemed like the type of owner most fans would of liked.

What's paying for this Saudi investment in sport. Oil. With Opec cutting production due to them losing billions. Fuel prices will rise. They are part of a cartel that control oil prices. Franco regime was awful. But that don't excuse for one second some of what the Saudi govt have reportedly done.
My own opinion no state govt should own a club or franchise. It could potentially be used politically.

Agree with Ed. We need to be prioritising his replacement not giving him a 5 Yr contract. Great leader miss him when he is not in the team.

sorry but not having Spirit of shankley running LFC. Who have their own agenda. I'd rather stick with FSG. They made mistakes before with ticket pricing, but they have also done some good things. like keeping anfield and investing in that stadium.

Sukhyrai

{Ed002's Note - You don't need to worry about that.}

Every teams has been in same boat with regards less pre season. We can't use that as an excuse.
My own opinion is playing players out of their natural or main positions can lead to more chance of these incidents.

Sukhyrai

{Ed077's Note - and having less options to rest and rotate players have contributed to adding to the injury woes as well IMO.}

Don't see much difference in 115 million pounds and 120 million euros

We tried haggling a few million on Lavia and then went back in over asking price

So just pay for Luis it like we should of Lavia. If we didn't think he was worth 50 million last week and supposedly bid 60 today
Amateurs.

Its pretty depressing in all honesty. As its all our own fault we could of got Lavia but messed him about.

Just have to bite the bullet and spend top dollar on Fiorentino Luis

The season has started and the team still isn't complete. This isn't a mess solely from this season but last season too.

We need to make champions league this year and a top defensive midfielder is essential to protect our back four.

Nunez had a really bad season. a bit harsh don't you think.
May not have been prolific as in the Portugese league, I thought he did ok. Considering there are many attackers in the world who scored less but still considered to have a good season. 9 in 29 for an 80mill player isn't what you'd really want but he joined a team who didn't appear to have a plan on how to best integrate him. But he looked danergous at times and played on the left side a few times. Not making excuses for him and he was never worth 65 to 80 mill we payed for him. That is not his fault.

didnt we leverage future income on signings and contract renewals in seasons pasts. Not being in the Champions league will also have an impact.
