Hi guys, I know your sick to death of Fekir rumours but I have a good friend who works at Ormskirk hospital and has a good contact within the club. Every now and then he gets a piece of info that is always right. Told me last night that that we are still very interested in Fekir but we have to get rid of some off the books first. The club still hoping to offload Sturridge, ings, Origi, Migs, Karius, and loan out a lot more of the youngsters. Just passing on what he told me.
Cheers.

1.) 22 Jul 2018 09:13:59
Does he get his info from here? Because that’s pretty much what’s been said already.

2.) 22 Jul 2018 09:43:08
Most journo's (not talking about clickbait interns) would say the same info from a couple of different sources would make it newsworthy and seeing as the ed's have to get their info from somewhere, it does make sense.

3.) 22 Jul 2018 10:06:05
Love rumours with a convoluted backstory.

Keep them coming Sikaboy 👍.

4.) 22 Jul 2018 12:08:59
My mam works in broadgreen ozzy. She was talking to a surgeon. He'd been talking to the porter who knows a fella who works in Speke airport. Think he's a pilot. well. He was talking to a baggage handler who had been reading the echo. He says fekir is 50/ 50.?

5.) 22 Jul 2018 12:21:48
Everybody keeps including Migs and Karius in the players to offload list, why? We wouldn’t have anybody but a couple of kids as backup to Alisson since Ward and Bogdan are gone (transfer and loan)

6.) 22 Jul 2018 12:58:07
Mignolet definitely leaving and fir Karius better a loan but only if we get a backup keeper.

7.) 22 Jul 2018 14:49:04
Makes no sense to be honest. Sell mingolet and karius? What then happens if alisson gets injured? Throw shaqiri in nets?

8.) 22 Jul 2018 19:25:34
Keep Karius, sell Migs.

18 Jul 2018 07:45:38
Hi one for Macca if he is around? A few weeks back you reported that Cillessen was at Melwood but I am guessing things have changed since then with all the strong Alisson rumours. Just wondering if you have any news on what happened with that or if there is a chance he could still be coming to us - perhaps as a number 2 if we are having a big keeper clear out?! Appreciate that the transfer world is forever changing but always value your views as ever.

Sikaboy

1.) 18 Jul 2018 08:01:42
It wasn’t Cillessen.

Ed002 in his podcast said it was the young lad we signed from Chelsea this year.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 08:12:37
He must have had sunglasses on and a cap I guess.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 08:14:35
If you are getting those mixed up people need their eyes testing!

4.) 18 Jul 2018 09:18:11
Or apply for a job as a ref.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 10:45:57
What was the name of the lad Macca got confused with a Cillissen?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know - you would need Macca to answer that.}

6.) 18 Jul 2018 10:49:28
Sometimes I just don't know. how hard can it be.

7.) 18 Jul 2018 10:50:29
Ed002, weren't you the one who said the name of the Chelsea player he got it confused with? I can't remember off the top of my head who his name was, but I'm pretty sure he had 3 names and is 19/ 20 years old?

{Ed002's Note - Isaac Christie-Davies was the one others were saying was Cillessen - I don’t know if Macca was confused by a picture of him on Twitter.}

8.) 18 Jul 2018 11:21:41
Cheers Ed002 for the clarification, can I just quickly ask what is your opinion of Alisson as a player? Have you seen him play enough to know if he's as good as he's made out to be? Hope you're having a good week, and keep up the good work!

{Ed002's Note - He has had one very good season in Rome (the first season he didn't really play) and has done OK for Brazil - although some performances have been patchy. Other sides think he is good hence the interest, but there is a thought that he is well and truly overpriced.}

9.) 18 Jul 2018 12:45:17
Thanks heaps Ed002, appreciate your hard work on this site.

10.) 18 Jul 2018 14:22:52
All players seem overpriced nowadays.

11.) 18 Jul 2018 14:47:25
The thing about overpriced players ED002, I wouldn't look to much into this.
I recall many years ago you stating Firmino was overpriced and not many clubs wanted to go near him for that valuation.

I think we paid $30mill pounds or something like that. 3-4 years later he would be double that if not more.

Its like an investment in property. if its a good purchase (player plays well) over time they should be worth more than your initial investment.

Sometimes you need to get that dream home and outbid bidders and over pay. Property rises, just like players do.
So outbidding 10-15mill pound give it 3-4 years . you've probably more likely doubled your return if the player has performed.

Thanks
Kindest regards

Tommy T.

{Ed002's Note - No. Liverpool spent significantly more than $30M for him.}

12.) 19 Jul 2018 17:11:29
He was closer to 60 mil if I remember correctly.

Eds, I am guessing that liverpool must really rate Brewster and see something really special in him if they are going to rely on him heavily next season, even though he is generally unproven and has such a bad injury?
Do they rate him as an exceptional talent? Most players of he's age seem to get loaned out to gain experience and prove their worth but Brewster seems an exception? Just wondered what your views were?
Many thanks.

Sikaboy

{Ed001's Note - he is seen as an exceptional talent yes. I have not seen him play, so can't give an opinion on that.}

1.) 10 Jun 2019 12:36:19
I have seen him play for England U19 in world cup 2017 i know its only youngsters playing but in all england games
Brewster, Sancho, Odoi, Foden looked like they're going to be star players i add gibbs-white to this list most of them are currently involved in their teams so it makes sense for Brewster to be involved next year if it wasn't for his injury he would've played already.

2.) 10 Jun 2019 12:49:56
I wouldn't say we will rely on him heavily as you've said. He will get his chances but if we do sign another forward he won't be expected to be relied on. Nice to see klopp wanting him to be part of first team and develop from within. Opposite approach to Wilson kent and co.

3.) 10 Jun 2019 13:24:42
From what I have seen Brewster is a livewire in the box, decent with his head also constantly on the move in the box, I think if he can take the way he plays into the first team an he has the strength too deal with players an physical challenge of the league he could b a little gem .

4.) 10 Jun 2019 13:36:02
He is a natural finisher, not quite God level but similar to owen, can use both feet. Has not got the pace of owen either but he has a football brain so I have high hopes. But caveat that he is still young and coming off a bad injury so will take time to show his full potential.

I predict he will prove himself to be a useful member of the squad.

5.) 10 Jun 2019 14:32:33
The modern striker criteria, fast lively, energetic with ability to finish anywhere in and around the box. I think he will be expected to slightly tweak his game to fit us. If he wants to play central role, he would be best trying to look at certain types of runs, more selfless movements that firmino offers which makes klopp adore him, runs into areas to benefit others. One thing that sturridge lacked was that ingenuity. He would just make runs to suit finding the best options for himself. Would stay central constantly coming deep or else just stand on defenders shoulders with no threat of going in behind. I felt he always occupied the pockets that salah and mane love to attack when bobby subtly moves a player a few yards out of position. If Brewster is capable of that reading and understanding of play and trains to suit then klopp will give him every chance, if he can't adapt slightly and wants to play the centre role as a classic no.9 on the shoulder striker looking to get in behind always he won't fit. Im sure klopp sees an intelligent player in brewster.

6.) 10 Jun 2019 14:46:43
The big test is mentally with these young players the talent I think is potentially there it is whether they get there head down and put in the work to get up to speed with the first team.

It seems he's got a good attitude from bits I've watched on LFCTV pre season will be massive for him to get up to fitness levels required for our game.

7.) 10 Jun 2019 14:48:10
We gave solanke a shot. Personally i thought he was an inch away from being a top player. He missed so many chances by the odd inch here and there. He could have reached double figures with a bit of luck, a bit of wind change.

So klopp will give the kids a chance. i've seen brewster play and he was exceptional. But i think the season after the one coming we will see the next home grown forward who smashes the premier league. And i think that lad will be bobby duncan (captain fantastic's cousin)

8.) 10 Jun 2019 15:05:53
If he hadn't got injured then I think he would be gone. From memory he was keen to move to Germany or at least there was interest and only signed a new contract when his injury reduced his options.

9.) 10 Jun 2019 15:29:13
Excellent point jordz. The intelligent and mentality can be the difference between a rashford or a berahino, a Nicolas bendtner or a Harry Kane, a Jordan ibe or a sterling, a jack rodwell or a Henderson. The list is endless of players who's ability at young ages was completely outshown by guys with the right attitude. I don't know Brewster personally to predict with better judgement if he can be an Henry instead of a David ngog. But klopp shows enough belief and respect for him to fill me with hope he has a bright future. Klopp showed with Trent he saw a mature guy who could grow into top player and also was quick to predict the likes of ibe wouldn't. We haven't made any errors in letting kids go, none have improved to any degree, but when I see him putting trust in a 18 year old after a serious injury it's hard to not believe in his judgement.

10.) 10 Jun 2019 16:09:48
If klopp thinks he is ready. then he will be. don't worry fellas. believe in kloppo.

11.) 10 Jun 2019 17:06:46
What encourages me about him is that he said in an interview last year that since he was training with the first team squad he was trying to model his game on Bobby.

I think we all agree that we need players off the bench who can play to the same system as our first 11 to allow for continuity.

If Rhian is modelling himself on Bobby, that’s just perfect!

12.) 10 Jun 2019 17:21:07
Here here livebird31. Full faith.

13.) 10 Jun 2019 19:06:05
Thanks Ed for your feedback and everyone else. Must say I don't think I have ever even seen him play but guessed Klopp must feel he is special, especially if we aren't to sign another forward because of how highly he is rated.

{Ed001's Note - welcome Sb.}

14.) 10 Jun 2019 20:14:57
Bobby style is so unique though, so much of his strengths rely on decion making which is kind of an instinctive trait. Wonder what players are in closest style to him. I think tadic this season has gelled Ajax attack similarly, lacks pace but has the intelligence to open the attack. His goals and assists have been much better though. Napoli have played similar with mertens in the past flanked by pacy wideman. Not a common system as it requires a specific player but effective. Dortmund use it with reuss through as a deeper nine? Chelsea tried it with hazard at times but it seemed to take away from his game. I think son heung min suits it but Kane doesn't have a place then. Depay looks a player suited but I don't think he has that natural selfless position sense. Lo Celso and jao Felix possibly fit the mould as they get more experience. I always wonder how firmino would have turned out if klopp had played him consistently as a 10. He might have struggled like ozil and even tadic at Southampton. Lack of pace suits him not having to directly influence with the ball at feet, off the ball he's as deadly. Tadic similarly looks much more effective. Wonder if ozil would thrive in that role, Thomas Muller too always had the positional sense to play perfectly and Germany could have used that approach especially when they've lacked top class striker for a couple of years.

15.) 10 Jun 2019 20:21:20
The fact that against Barcelona klopp chose gini up top, we was more concerned with keeping that system as with a midfielder instead of 2 natural strikers who are so far off understanding the requirements. A similar style option would be an absolute cracking benefit to us.

Hi Ed 002, in relation to Ings going to Southampton on a loan basis initially rather than a straightforward sale would this be because they can't afford him this year but will be able to next year or is there another reason? Wondered if there might be a clause to say they will buy him at the end of the season providing he doesn't suffer another long term injury ect? Just haven't seen many sales like this but thought you would know the answer?
Many thanks as always.
Sika.

Sikaboy

{Ed002's Note - I have answered this already but it will be over a concern that he may have further injury problems.}

1.) 10 Aug 2018 17:10:43
Cheers Ed 2- appreciated as always.

2.) 10 Aug 2018 23:00:48
That's fair enough. I really hope Danny Ings has a great season and shows why Liverpool bought him.

Is Ings a southerner? Heard someone say he was "going home"

I could see Gomez playing in a three at the back with Carlos and VVD - Robertson and Arnold pushed well forward, virtually in midfield. I know they do this already but knowing those three are behind you with that pace would be immense!
Another formation is to play Arnold in midfield like we have discussed so many times before freeing up Gomez to play RB. So I do see sense bringing in Carlos, especially if Lovren leaves. If we get Carlos and Werner we will take some stopping for years to come!

I can see Hendo and Fab being the new CB pairing personally! We have tons of midfielders that could fill in for Hendo who definitely won’t let us down.

Yes I was thinking the same. I did wonder if Klopp would go with 3 at the back to provide more protection as Trent and Robbo never seem to be in our half! Working out just fine though!

I think Klopp should give the main players, who have played so much and need a rest the time off. BUT I do think the likes of Matip, Lovren, Keita, Minamino, Origi, Adrian, Shaqiri should play. They need game time - i personally think Klopp should be there too.
